With all the retro stuff that’s been getting reboots and sequels and whatnot......

So let’s talk about a favorite story of mine, shall we?

It’s called Kanata Kara (From Far Away, in the English translation), and it was a little manga that never seemed to make it into the main stream. The original run was from 1993 to 2003, and it shows. But I loved this thing.

The basic story is an oldie and a goodie: Noriko is a teenage girl who magically gets transported to a magical world of sword and sorcery. The how of it is never explained all that well, because frankly, this plot has been done a million times and the logistics never make sense and we always just roll with it. 

She wakes up alone in a jungle, where she’s found by a mysterious hot warrior named Izark who saves her from the resident monsters and blah blah blah prophecy psychic bond politics blah blah.

Okay, yeah, so the plot is nothing to write home about.

But the thing that really got me invested in this series?

They don’t speak the same language.
