1850 - 1870. A Chinese export black and gilt laxquer sewing box and cover. Of oblong octagonal form with four dragon-head feet, decorated with panels of figures and buildings on foliage grounds, the interior with an inner tray, fitted compartments and a fitted drawer, with various ivory sewing implements.
