This weekend we started a new series on #Paleostream!

Pocket Prehistory is a project in which I draw small extinct critters as museum specimens, life sized, on post card formats.

I only do adults so don't expect a T. rex fetus or something ;)

We plan to sell these as postcards on Dinocon in Birmingham this year.

Textile Fragment with Artemis and Actaeon Undyed linen with tapestry-woven coloured wools. Artemis, goddess of the hunt, appears suspended in the air holding a bow and wearing a crown of arrows, while Actaeon stands beside her leaning on a reversed spear or staff. The central and side panels are decorated with dancing figures framed by scrolling vines, floral borders, and scattered red blossoms. In the early Byzantine world, mythological scenes such as this signalled cultural sophistication and knowledge of classical literature. The textile was likely produced in Panopolis (Akhmim, Egypt), a renowned centre of luxury textile production.

In "Still Life with a Goblet" (1653), Willem Claesz. Heda shows how much can be said with just a few objects. A tall Dutch wine glass stands beside another lying on its side, surrounded by soft gold and grey tones. Heda was a master of quiet still lifes. Do you know of any dolls based off famous paintings/artists?

I definitely know of some!

Off the top of my head there have been a few Andy Warhol themed Barbies.

As well as the Museum Collection, which was a Pink Label collectors edition series depicting Barbie inspired by the work of a variety of world famous artists.

This isn't to say that these are the only ones -- they are just the ones that come to mind.
