1980s New York City Street Style by Jamel Shabazz
Chik-fil-le sandwich
INGREDIENTS:
4 hamburger buns, split
1 head green leaf lettuce, leaves separated
1 beefsteak tomato, sliced
20 dill pickle slices
FOR THE CHICKEN
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup dill pickle juice
1 ½ cups milk, divided
1 cup peanut oil
1 large egg
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon confectioners’ sugar
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
DIRECTIONS:
Place a chicken breast on a cutting board. With your hand flat on top of it, carefully slice the chicken in half horizontally. Trim excess fat as needed.
In a large shallow baking dish, combine chicken, pickle juice and ½ cup milk; marinate for at least 30 minutes. Drain well.
Heat peanut oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
In another large shallow baking dish, whisk together remaining 1 cup milk and egg. Stir in chicken to coat and drain excess milk mixture.
In a gallon size Ziploc bag or large bowl, combine chicken, flour and confectioners’ sugar; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
Working in batches, add chicken to the skillet and cook until evenly golden and crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
Serve chicken immediately on burger buns with green leaf lettuce, tomato and pickles.

i get prettier every time a man disappoints me
Oh honey, no. I know EXACTLY how burnt out I am.
Not all heroes wear capes.
in case you haven’t heard it today, or don’t fully realise it yet: i promise you that most people in this world are kind, loving and understanding. the people around you want you to succeed, they do not want you to fail. your friends don’t hate you, they love you, and they want to see you grow and prosper.
the world is not as bad as it seems. don’t forget that.
Sounds fake but ok
good news: it’s not fake. everything i said is true. being dismissive towards good things is a damaging mindset to have. you’ll feel a lot better if you have some trust and if you’re willing to consider optimistic viewpoints.
Is this what non depressed people feel like ? Damn. You’re so lucky
i’m extremely mentally ill and extremely depressed at that. deflecting good advice that encourages you to think positively about life by claiming that the person who said it is not depressed (when i very much am) is also a very damaging mindset to have.
OP is the opposite of the “Then Perish” meme. All of OP’s replies read as “Then Prosper”.
Hey all y'all, it turns out that saying positive things and encouraging others with them even when you don’t quite believe them yourself is an excellent coping strategy for clinical depression. I know it’s hard to understand when you’re in the pit, and if I’m honest it’s still hard for me to grok, but the more you say positive things, the more they start being true. If that means lying to yourself, lie! Your brain chemistry is already lying to you about bad things, you may as well lie right back about good ones.
“Your brain chemistry is already lying to you about bad things, you may as well lie right back about good ones.“
Wow. That is a really fucking good point.
THEN PROSPER
THEN PROSPER!!
Just to reinforce the OP as well…human beings really are kind, loving, and understanding. We’re an extremely pro-social species. We form large communal groups of loving family members, both born and formed, and we do so naturally.
Our problems come from the structures created by people in order to give them a greater sense of control over the world, spun out of control and having created a powerful force of authoritarianism that grounds itself in sexism, racism, and all kinds of other prejudice.
But scrape away all of that authoritarianism? And most of us want to make friends and not enemies. Most of us want to bring peace and not war. And all of us want to find a family to belong to.
Hi guys, I am starting this GoFundMe to help my family rebuild our ho… Alacyia Young needs your support for Family home destroyed due to en
Please share and donate!! This is extremely unfair to her and her family. Let’s try our best to help them have a new home. 🥰
as of april 5, 2021 they only have 5,549/20,000 and they’re not even asking for the total amount of the damages - detailed in the gfm as 50,000 usd
some of yall need to learn how to say “i’m sorry, i now see why what i did was harmful and won’t do it again” and then Stop Talking
Yep, myself included. We all fuck up, the point is learning from it and not perpetuating those mistakes.
stop humiliating fat children/fat teens/fat young adults/fat adults/fat folks in general. stop questioning/speculating on our food intake, our energy out put, how our individual bodies must feel, what our health is,etc.

Stop this “work hard” bullshit. You deserve free time, you deserve sleep and you deserve mental health. You deserve to procrastinate and you deserve to have your hobbies. You deserve it. You need it. No one should work & study all the time.

it’s been two years, but i think that an icon like her deserves to be known about by more people.
her name was freddie oversteegen and she, at the age of fourteen, along with her older sister truus who was 16 and their friend johanna “hannie” schaft who was 19, was a part of the netherlands most famous all female resistance cell which was dedicated to fighting the nazis and dutch traitors.
among other things, they are known to have blown up bridges and railroads, smuggled jewish children from concentration camps and, as the tweet mentions, seducing nazis and then shooting them with guns that they had hidden in their bike baskets. freddie is quoted as having said that they “had to do it.” and that it was a “necessary evil, killing those who betrayed good people.”
though freddie and her sister truus were both lucky and survived the war, hannie schaft wasn’t. at the age of 24, hannie was caught and around three weeks later was executed by nazis, only 18 days before the netherlands were eventually liberated. she was shot with one only wounding her, and, before the final shot, hannie is quoted as having told the executioners: ik schiet beter, which translates to “i shoot better.”
though she didn’t survive, hannie is recognized as a national icon and a face of the dutch resistance, with her story even being retold in a movie from 1981 called “the girl with the red hair.” along with this, truus also founded the national hannie schaft foundation in 1992, on which freddie served as a board member.
freddie, at the time of her death, was 92 years old and the last surviving member of the resistance cell, with truus having died two years earlier at the age of 92.
though these women and all that they did played an important part in the dutch resistance, they are often overlooked in history outside of the netherlands. it’s important that they are remembered and that their work to save people isn’t forgotten. it’s incredible what they did, especially given how young they were, and they deserve more recognition than what they’ve gotten.
“I shoot better” Holy shit an icon
