This is my hiatus notice that I should have posted like a week ago
So yeah I’m starting a new job in July in a city that’s like 110km away from where I’m currently living. I’m currently busy with hunting down a new flat over there, while starting to sort out my flat, occasionally helping my mother / grandparents with their move (what’s more changing their flats in the same house but it’s even more chaotic xx) and still working at the old place so my head’s like everywhere but rarely on drafts.
There are some that I look up and instantly have the motivation to answer and usually I just do that, but other’s are down in my drafts for now and... I’m sorry but I guess that will stay like that until I catch a free day and can focus on them.
I haven’t forgotten anyone. And just because I answer to some other thread faster than to ours it doesn’t mean I don’t like the thread or writing with you I promise <3
Hope you’re all still around when calmer days return.
Love you all <3
『 Lamy 』
Lamy felt unease spread through her body as she watched his toothy grin stretch wide, lifting one of her eyebrows in question. She didn’t like the mischievous glint that had appeared in his eyes at all. “Maybe we should just-” Her suggestion got interrupted by his rubber arm wrapping around her like a weird type of snake, his other stretching to grab a hold of the hole in the wooden ceiling above them. Oh no. “Nonononowait-” She started babbling, cheeks flushing as he pressed her close, but it was too late.
“GYAAAHHH!!!!”
Lamy let out a terrified screech, air rushing past her ears as they shot off into the air together, leaving a few dumbfounded enemies behind. Somewhere in the crowd, Law’s ‘Mugiwara’-alarm siren went off.
Her fingers buried themselves into his flesh, barely registering that they had already landed. Lamy’s knees buckled as her brain finally acknowledged the solid material beneath her feet.
Sweet, sweet ground.·
Lamy looked down at the floor on all fours, disbelievingly staring at the wooden planks. Her brother had been right after all. The Strawhats were all mad, their captain especially so.
“Don’t ever do that again… please…” Lamy whimpered, trying to stop her limbs from trembling.
Whatever Lamy thought to suggest as an alternativ, it totally went under his preparations for get them out of the room. It seemed like the other one soon enough had realized what he was about to do, just not soon enough to stop him, even though her babbling, followed by the scream was a rather good indication that she wasn’t exactly happy with his actions.
At the same time neither of his nakama were happy with him if he did things like that so maybe it was just a usual reaction after all?
For a moment he could have sworn that he had heard Torao’s voice somewhere as well, but before he could look around to search for the older one they already had more or less successfully landed on the other level of the building.
Looking at the other one it was quiet obvious that she still wasn’t doing any better than she had down there. Maybe she needed a break? Again the strawhats captain looked around to determine how good of a hiding spot this room was. Could she catch a break here or would they end up in more trouble again?
It were her quiet words that pulled him out of his thoughts though and for a moment his whole attention was back on her.
“But I had to get us out of there?”
『 Law 』
A blurted out question, unexpected that has the older boy tensing. Hands clench, features darkening as his hat shadows his eyes. He glares at the younger boy, anger stirring in him. He doesn’t want a new family. Doflamingo acted like his group of criminals were a family and he refused to fully incorporate himself into that. Didn’t even actively make friends with the other kids, that just happened. Like hell he’s going to think of this snot nosed shit as a little brother.
“No,” Law snarls, an unsaid promise lingering in his mind. No replacements.
Still, the need for food seems to distract the kid well enough. Law turns himself about, striding towards the entrance into this allyway. He nods at Luffy to follow him, doing his best to push away the seething that has begun in him. He takes a deep breath, pausing just before entering the street to take a look around. Some Marines are still about but it they move into the town square proper they should be able to find a likely target to rob and be lost in the crown enough.
As they walk, Law keeping his pace casual in the hopes Luffy will follow his example, he looks at the other boy. He eyes him for a moment, considering how best to utilise this ball of energy that has attached to him. Perhaps it’d better to get him to talk to the shop keep as he works.
“Why don’t you choose a stall you want? We can ask the shop keep about their food.”
Luffys eyes wide slightly at the other’s rather harsh ‘no’. Maybe he should have expected an answer like that, after all they still were strangers, even though he knew the other’s name and families probably didn’t work like that. Still it hurt because Luffy almost immediately felt like the other boy didn’t want him to be around, what probably was right anyways, but because of other reasons. Reasons the five years old couldn’t quiet understand yet.
“But I don’t have anyone else to ask.” he whined eventually anyways, trying his best to hold back his tears. Something that instantly stopped again once food was mentioned and so he just ran after the older boy while Law seemed to bring them closer to some food.
In that moment the boy actually had forgotten about the marines still searching for him. Or about the fact that his grandfather was still out there looking for him. Food was more important, and maybe....maybe if Law got to know him better he could stay a while longer anyways?
Wide brown eyes were looking first at Law, then at the food stalls around them before he eventually settled down for one, raising one of his tiny hands to point towards it.
“I want that. It smells like meat.” he announced and next moment already was running towards said stall, not really paying attention whether or not Law was still following behind.
『 Lamy 』
Lamy looked over the battlefield, scattered rubble of the destroyed castle and shrapnels flying around. She had somehow found herself seperated from the rest of the Heart pirates, having become lost after Kairo’s castle had caught fire and the ensuing mass panic had pushed them apart. Her haki-covered hands were getting clammy and shaky just from looking at the smoke rising from the lower levels.
‘Not now, not now’, she told herself. She couldn’t afford to drown in trauma-induced panic while her crewmates and older brother were in danger. She had found herself fighting back-to-back with Mugiwara Luffy eventually, both taking out approaching foes left and right, until they both had caused a noticeable dent in the enemy lines - but more were swarming in through the entrance doors. Lamy panted, blood running down her forehead - hers or others, she wasn’t sure anymore - and mixing with her cold sweat. This was bad, and there were still two Yonko rampaging around.
“Let’s jump!”Lamy turned around at the sound of her ally’s statement. Her eyes followed the pointing of his finger. “Huh?!” Did he actually plan to jump through the hole in the ceiling? Even more enemies lay beyond this floor… Law had told her that the captain of the Strawhat pirates was a madman and an idiot, but he couldn’t possibly be this dense. On the other hand, the flames were slowly gnawing their way across the wooden beams and paper walls upwards to them, and the way downwards past the fire was blocked. “I don’t know, it sounds awfully dangerous…” Lamy said hesitantly.
His answer made her blink. She pitied his nakama if they always had to deal with these intrusive antics… but what other choice did she have but to go along? Staying with him seemed like her best bet at the moment to get away from the flames. “How would we even get up there?!”
While the other one blinked surprised of his words, Luffy let his hand sink down again. He already had made his point clear, so there was no need to point towards the ceiling any longer. Even less with more enemies approaching and his hands needed elsewhere.
Continuing to throw punches around, making sure no one came too close to them. Something about his companion was off. Luffy wasn’t sure what exactly, but she seemed to be distracted by something that wasn’t his reckless plan to jump onto the other floor without knowing what was waiting for them there.
In the end she didn’t exactly say no, but asked how they should get up there, Well that was a new one. Usually it was either a yes or a now or a stop, but rarely someone asked how to do things. “Well that’s easy.” he replied eventually. And if possible his grin grew even bigger, even brighter, before he wrapped one of his arms around the other one, while his other one streched up to grab the edge of the level above.
“Hold on tight.” he actually remembered to warn her, before he shouted both of them up there, leaving the flames and the enemies behind.
Their landing up there was a bit bumpy, but at least they were alone for now . It wasn’t exactly quiet as they still could hear the yells of the people down there as well as the sound of the flames. For a moment Luffy stayed silent, tried to figure out where his nakama were in this mess while using his observation haki. At least he could still feel all of them, so they should be alright.
Unlike the one besides him, if all the blood on her face was any indication.
“You’re alright?”

Awfully dangerous? Luffy blinked a few times, watching the other one for a moment, while he had stopped in his doings. Was it really that? If at all he would have called it reckless, maybe.
Eventually he only shrugged slowly.
“My nakama are used to it.” he replied eventually, showing her a wide grin. “And I’m sure you will too if you stay with me.” he added. He wasn’t even sure why exactly the other one was around, but she seemed like a nice person so he wasn’t against her staying a while longer

『 marine guy 』
Law meets that question about his strength with a smirk overflowing with confidence. He can see the kid is itching for a fight. Maybe he came here looking for just that, for someone to indulge the thrill of violence with. Law can’t be certain but in a sense he understands. A good fight does wonderful things for a soldier, especially one as intelligent as he is. So often he finds the pirates he takes down so uninteresting. Then again, the Vice Admiral’s sights are generally turned inward, looking at his fellow Marines and finding the corruption hidden in this organisation.
He shifts his position, moving so he is just behind the Straw Hat captain. Hand rests on the back of his shoulder, he Marine making sure this pirate is exactly where he can see him. Law gives a tiny push, urging Luffy forwards before he starts following after him, guiding him towards were he thinks these hurt Marine guards should be.
“After we check on my colleagues I’ll get you something to eat,” Law states, assuming this guy is thinking more about his stomach than that of his victims’. He may be a strange pirate by they aren’t that altruistic. “They probably just had lunch about an hour ago.”
That was when the shift was supposed to change. Although, that might not be the case. Law’s study of this base has told him shift scheduling has been a little strange. He’ll put that on his list of shit he has to deal with, after he puts Straw Hat in a cozy cell and gets him something to eat.
There was no verbal reaction to his words, but at this point the smirk that Luffy could spot on his opponents face shortly after those words had left his lips probably was everything of an answer that the young pirate captain needed at this point.
The other one thought he could.
What...probably would cause half of his crew to freak out but for Lu? It only made the whole situation a little bit more interesting. He usually wasn't the violent type. For the sake of his crew he tried to stay out of trouble whenever he could, but most of the time trouble was just coming to him and Lu wasn't a coward. He wouldn't say no to a good fight if he was presented the chance to get one.
This... this certainly would be able to become one. The other's smirk was telling him that much at least.
And so his eyes rest carefully on the other one, even when the marine started to move. But it wasn't a move made to attack just yet. And so he stayed still. Watched. And didn't even flinch when he felt the ohter's hand on the back of his shoulder. Instead a grin appeared on his face.
The other marines seemed to be more important for that marine guy than a fight it seemed?
Letting himself get pushed forwards, Luffy easily followed the path the other one was urging him into, not really impressed or worried by this whole situation just yet. He even found it to cross his arms behind his head while turning it around to take a closer look at the guy now behind him while walking forward with calm steps.
So that guy actually wanted to get him something to eat, hu?
"I told you they'll be fine" he replied in the end, even though part of him was rather well aware why the marine didn't trust his words. He was a pirate after all. "We could skip that part and go right to the food one."
Part of him was aware that he probably wouldn't get any food just like that. After all.. that guy probably would try to arrest him first but for now he wasn't really making a move for that either so... for now it was okay.
"Ne,ne you're really bored, aren't you? Go checking on others even if it's not your job and pushing me around the base like that."
Unlike most peoples believe Luffy wasn’t stupid. That something was off on this island... he had already realized it the moment he first had took a step onto Dressrosa. Maybe because the whole atmosphere had reminded him so much of home. Of Goa. A kingdom where the people tried to hide the misery of the country at all costs without trying to do something against it.
Still... it wasn’t even like he had planned to completely ignore the plan Torao seemed to have worked so much on, no really. He had been curious about the island. But then he had stumbled over that old guy and later found out about the Mera and things just went downhill from there.
It really wasn’t his fault now, was it?
If the whole attendance at the tournament to win his late brothers fruit had proven him one thing, it was that Dressrosa really was a lot like Goa Kingdom. He didn’t like that fact, actually, because Goa had taken a lot from him.
And then Torao had been in danger and things just went out of control instead of just downhill. Suddenly Sabo was back. It was something Luffy hadn’t completely realized yet, less comprehend, but he didn’t had the time for it anyways cause Torao needed his help and when he eventually had made it as far in the castle that he actually could see the one who was responsible for the mess that had become this island..
Neither the toy soldier nor Violet had any chance in holding him back. It wasn’t like he wasn’t aware that the plan was different. That he had to wait for the right times. It was the moment his emotions just took over and maybe...maybe the surprise was on his side as long as Doflamingo hadn’t figured out that he wasn’t in the coliseum any longer.
“Mingo!”
Well he soon enough would find out, as his first attack was already directly aimed at this countries king. || @advocateofheaven // starter call (still accepting)
『 Shanks 』
There was little to make the emperor feel less powerful than to be faced with something he genuinely could not do. The only way he could have protected Luffy would have been to stay by the boy’s side, and to have given up his crew. That would have been impossible - he was a pirate. Luffy had been a kid they met on an island and grew attached to. Shanks could have never given up his ship in favor of protecting the boy.
He had, despite seeing the trouble the boy got into first hand, believed that he was surrounded by capable people who could protect him. Maybe not Makino, of course. She was lovely, strong in her own way, but not a warrior. Had he let his own desire to continue his own life get in the way of rational thought?
Of course he had grown to love Luffy. His whole crew adored the boy. Or so he thought. Perhaps he really was a pirate - selfish enough to protect his own way of life, others be damned.
But the past couldn’t be changed. It couldn’t be fixed. But the now could be. “Luffy,” he started slow. “No, I wasn’t there. So I don’t know… I don’t really know much about what happened. When you feel - if you ever feel - okay enough to tell me, would you please do so?” Also, if any of those sons of bitches who did this to Luffy were still alive, they wouldn’t be much longer after Shanks found them. Who cared how many enemies he’d have coming after him. He wouldn’t live forever anyway.
He never really had expected the pirates to stay forever. Even as a little child Luffy already had been aware that Shanks and the others would leave sooner or later, even if they stayed rather long. They were pirates. Being a pirate was all about freedom after all. Going wherever you want to go. Not letting you bound by anything.
Thinking about it like that... maybe all that had happened was just reason more for him to follow that path. If the world was after him anyways.... he couldn’t hide forever.
It wasn’t surprising, that Shanks didn’t really know what had happened. Honestly, Luffy had been more confused if he had, after all who had been around to witness what had happened back then? Surely tons of people of High Town, but those people probably wouldn’t talk to Shanks anyways.
At this point Luffy was rather sure that he would never be okay enough to talk about where he’d been the last years. What had happened to him there but... the beginning of this mess... of his personal hell...
“I was looking for my brothers... Ace said to wait at Dadans hut but I was stupid...I wanted to find them... I got caught.” he told the older one in the end, not sure if he should let go of Shanks at this point for making it easier to understand him but... maybe part of him actually had forgotten about the part that Shanks had left long before he met Dadan. Before he met Ace. Found his brothers. It didn’t matter anymore though...he had lost them anyways, hadn’t he?
“I wasn’t strong enough..”
Sorry for disappearing on you guys. RL happened. Wasn’t at home much this week and while most of it brought good news, today I got rather bad ones.
I’ll try to work on drafts just to have something to distract myself, but if something feels out of place or is full of mistakes please let me now x.x
『 Shanks 』
He stood still, his heart breaking as he realized just by looking at him how fragile the enthusiastic, excitable little Anchor had been. It was as if Shanks feared any sudden movements on his part would scare Luffy away, would send him back, make him hide from the man. That would only serve to break his heart more.
But instead of running away from him, Luffy ran into him. And Shanks wrapped his arm around Luffy, holding the boy close to him. Protecting, as though afraid if he let go then something bad would happen to Luffy again. How did he not know something had happened? He should have been keeping a closer eye on him. He shouldn’t have just sailed away after that last meeting.
He clung tight to Luffy, but would release his arm at the slightest hint that Luffy wanted to be released. Until then, he would be there as long as Luffy needed someone to hold onto. He was still honored that the boy deemed him someone safe to cling to, and that was not an honor he held lightly.
“Luffy,” he whispered, “You have nothing to apologize for. There is still time, lots of time. And it was a promise made when you were so small… it’s okay if you decide you need to amend it. I’m sorry I wasn’t there to protect you.”
The moment the other’s arms wrapped around him was one, Luffy stopped in his doings for a moment, holding his breath. He wasn’t even sure what he was afraid of in that moment, not really, but maybe it wasn’t important. He might haven’t been sure what kind of reaction he had expected from Shanks anyways.
This certainly hadn’t been anything close to it.
The quiet words of reassurance. Being told that he didn’t need to apologize. That he had time. That he still could hold onto that promise. It were all things he hadn’t expected to hear. Not at all. After all he had blamed himself for those things for so long.. to hear it was okay..it was more relieving that he had thought. At the same time there was this tiny voice inside of his head, that told him he didn’t deserve this. Not at all. Not after everything.
I’m sorry I wasn’t there to protect you.
It were those words, that caused his eyes to go wide again. Caused Luffy to look up at the other one again.
“But you...you weren’t there. There was nothing you could have done.”
Because it had been his fault. If he would just have listened to Ace and the other’s and stayed. If he had just waited for his brothers to return...they never would have gotten him right?
But Sabo was dead and Ace...what had happened to his brother back then?

『 Law 』
Well, there goes his plan to bring this kid home and be done with him. He’s not even from this island. Must have stowed away on the Marine ship for whatever reason. That makes Law’s next choices a little annoying. He doesn’t really want to take this kid back to the Marines. They’re likely to see the white blotches on his skin and realise exactly what he is suffering from. That would be a problem, and Law doesn’t want to tell Corazon about the Marines, he’s already suspicious of the man.
“You need to find yourself a better family,” Law deadpans, words meant as a place holder so he can figure his next move out.
He sighs, head turning to look out towards the crowd. Law himself was supposed to be following Corazon to a new hospital appointment but he’d grown tired of them. He didn’t want to be called a white monster again, didn’t want to watch those doctors treating him like a creature to be feared and hated, not the sick boy he actually is. He wanted something else, something fun.
This here isn’t what he had in mind. He was probably just going to steal some food and a medical book then go find some place quiet to read. Perhaps he can still do that. Sure, this boy in front of him might be more of a babysitting gig than he’d like but this Luffy is pretty loud. Maybe he can serve as a distraction while Law steals some stuff.
“Hey … um, you hungry?” he asks, gaze focusing on the little kid.
You need to find yourself a better family. Well Law was saying it like it was an easy thing to do, but was it really? Luffy wasn’t sure how exactly family worked. Up till now he always had been told that Gramps was all of a family he had and that he should deal with it. Not exactly in those words but the message that had come across certainly had been like that. But now Law said he could find himself a new family so... was it really something he could simply chose?
“Will you be my better family?” he blurted out eventually, big curious eyes staring at the older boy, totally ignoring how less that boy wanted to be in this situation at all. Actually Lu hadn’t spend a single thought about what Law actually was doing here. Did he live in that city? Did he had a family to return to? It had been obvious that the other one didn’t exactly like marines either but... that actually was all he knew about the other one besides his name, wasn’t it?
But as soon as the five years old had started to wonder about things like that his mind was distracted by the other’s words again and before he even got a chance to answer his stomach started to rumble loudly.
“Oh... yes. Can we get food?”
『 Torao 』
“Oh please,” Law snorts, that wicked smirk still lingering on his lips. “If any of your crew had read even one newspaper article ‘bout me they would have known I’m as insane as they come before even meeting me.”
He can’t argue that being compared to Luffy makes him seem far more sane but even without the news reporting on his cruelty and sadism each one of them would have seen that vicious glint in his eyes when he fights. Or noted those moments when he enjoys messing with people. Straw Hat’s insanity and chaos in the bright, up beat type. Law’s is more sinister, more self-destructive. But at least now, whenever his crew points out how reckless he can be, Law can point at Luffy and tell them they should be happy he isn’t that bad.
The Hearts Captain brings his mug to his lips, about to get another drink when realises he is running empty. There is a disappointed grumble in his throat, Law realising he wants more to drink. He does take a moment to frown at the bottom of his cup, calculating how much alcohol he has already had. He doesn’t have a desire to get drunk, preferring to keep himself at a comfortable buzz so he won’t slip into whatever bullshit that happens when he’s drunk.
Law gives a hum, satisfied with his calculations. Head rises, level Luffy with his golden eyed gaze.
“I’m gonna get myself something else to drink, something that isn’t rum,” he says, side stepping out of Luffy’s personal space. “So … You go play or whatever …”
The other’s words caused Luffy to chuckle quietly. Maybe because he actually knew the other one was right. And it wasn’t like his crew wasn’t aware of that either. After all they had tried to warn him from forming this alliance. He just had decided to ignore it. At that point Law already had saved his life. He was indebt to him and even though he nearly had known nothing about the older pirate, Luffy just had have that feeling that he could trust the other one, thus agreeing in the alliance for too easily for his nakamas liking.
Looking back things had turned out surprisingly well though. Even if they hadn’t exactly sticke to the plan Law had made like...right from the beginning. It was okay though. They were all here now. They were all safe.
And if his crew had forgotten about the fact that Law wasn’t as sane as he seemed compared to him.... well Luffy wouldn’t be the one reminding them of it. That would be boring after all.
In the end he could feel Laws eyes on himself again, meeting them with his own shortly after. So Law had decided to end the conversation at this point, hu? Well maybe he shouldn’t be that surprised, looking at the fact that he had all but forced the other captain into this conversation to begin with.
Go play, hu?
“Maybe I’ll do that.” he decided eventually, a grin already back on his face. He really should go see where Usopp and Chopper currently were, right?
“I’m rather sure there’s more stuff in the kitchen. Just don’t let Sanji caught you at the fridge~”
