Sorry for the huge watermark I was mostly posting to Instagram at the time, and it just had to be that big for it to survive compression
Your teen years are for becoming a moderator of a subreddit, skype group, or facebook page that is ultimately niche, but has internal machinations so strong that you will feel like you have the most important job in the world, and by your 20's, the place has disbanded and left you with nothing but dust. This is how the man is humbled
A list of events and groups ran in Scotland and tips for making yourself seen or finding others. A lot of these events aren't very well advertised so I thought I'd supply an easy way to find out about them!
Broken into a general section and region specific information.
If you know of anything I haven't listed or have more information please let me know so I can add it!
General Tips
Common Sense
READ EACH INDIVIDUAL GROUP AND EVENT'S RULES! I AM SUMMARISING AND RULES ARE PRONE TO CHANGING FASTER THAN I CAN EDIT THIS POST.
Although they're not NSFW most of these events are 18+ for a reason. If you're a minor please don't go meeting up with strangers without thinking. Even online, always be wary- keep common internet safety knowledge in mind please.
On the other hand don't be too scared to try and reach out! The beautiful thing about the internet and these meets is that if you manage to make an absolute fool of yourself you never need to go back or speak to those people again, but all the meets I've been to have been very welcoming and joining conversations wasn't as hard as you'd think, this is what they're intended for after all.
Respect other people's boundaries and just. don't be weird. Not everyone will be as isolated and lonely that they're checking a guide like this. Don't be parasocial- just because someone shares an interest with you, it doesn't immediately mean they're keen to be friends. Some people will appreciate it but don't be overbearing!!!
Finding your own
Simply just Google "Scotland/(area) Furry/FurMeets"! Surprisingly effective, honestly how I found out about most of the events that happen. Most primarily use Telegram to communicate dates but a lot have set up accounts or sites with information now. Most events and groups are 18+ and the attendees are often quite a bit older than that.
Any spaces that are particularly catered to the chronically online are bound to have furries.
Although they're much broader in scope than furcons, comic cons are still a good place to find others so don't rule them out. They're much more numerous than the sole ScotiaCon and often (especially the bigger ones) have dedicated fandom meetups including FurMeets hosted by attendees. On the lead up to a convention look on its tags and the sort for discussions of meets. (I've heard about a telegram channel for organising and finding these but I don't know anything more, sorry!) Even without an organised meeting you can just talk to the people wandering around or vendors. Bring a really desperate looking sign or badge asking for friends if you need to. In the lead up to cons some people who would otherwise be going alone will be looking for people to go with, make your own post and look for others to find groups!
Another place for the chronically online is in nerdy figure, anime and gaming stores or anything else in that niche. If you're passing by make sure to visit them. Some HMV stores have fun little sticky note walls you can leave a way to contact you and a little doodle on! Plenty of people will have already left notes you can look through. Maybe not the most obvious way to do it but I've seen someone who had left a note with what was clearly a fursona in a stationary store's pen testing section.
Wear something obvious like a t-shirt or accessorise with pins or patches on bags or clothes. Ita bags are a really fun way to do it and there's tons and tons of designs, either fandom specific ones or something broader like a paw. Etsy is a good source for them or Amazon for more basic designs. Look out for others wearing them, too! Complimenting people's stuff is a great gateway drug for being able to hold actual conversations and is just a nice thing to do.
THE place for the chronically online, social media, is good too. That furry artist you follow has to live somewhere. General gaming communities and art communities have a pretty good overlap. If you're already in a Discord for one of those topics just search up "Scotland/Scottish" in it and see if anyone's saying they're local while having an interesting looking profile or message history. Even on more open social media platforms just search up "Scotland/Scottish" and see if anyone has One Of Those profiles. Throw in "furry" to your search if you can't find anything specific.

Nationwide groups

FurDar can be a tool to find meets, it's kind of hit or miss as not all the event hosts actually put things up there. If they have been advertised then you can filter by country and smaller areas to see if there's anything. Even if there isn't anything upcoming in your area try searching "(area) FurDar" on your browser and see if you can find previous listings or hosts that show there is an interest or a chance of another happening in your area.
UkFur is a forum for UK based furries and has its own regional forum for Scotland. I don't know anything else about it.

Dundee
Ab-Fur-Tay (17+)

♿ Wheelchair accessible, accessible toilets and assistance from college staff is available.
Scotland's only FurCon, now in Glasgow! It attracts people from all over so it's a good option for anyone, not just those from the area. In the lead up you can follow their channels and tags to see who's going. Compared to comic cons (at least I've heard) ScotiaCon is a much more social event with a bigger focus on activities and is less seller based, though there is a market. Has a telegram.
♿ Wheelchair accessible venue (detailed information on their site). Quiet hours for certain spaces. Welfare team present.
Glasgow Furs (18+)
Local monthly FurMeet in a pub/club environment at the beginning/end of the month. Has a telegram group. There is also a Discord however your account must have been verified as 18+.
♿ The Corset Club's main entrance is a tight, steep stepped entrance. Contact the club in advance to see if they can help, the back entrance seems to have ramped access. Accessible toilets. Quite loud & busy.
Glasgow Furry Coffee Meets (18+)
Mid-Month laid back coffee meet. Has a telegram group.
♿ Not wheelchair accessible. Located in a basement with steps leading down to it. Quiet-ish, not too crowded.
The University of Glasgow has a furry society that is open to non-students. Register with the SRC site as a guest, then select 'associate member' on the FurSoc's sign up page.
They host in person events (like art workshops) and have a Discord.
♿ Venues change however most of the university should be (theoretically.) wheelchair accessible with enough diversions.
A twice yearly(?) furry rave with a space for retro gaming too.
♿ Not wheelchair accessible. A rave, aka loud. The gaming space is a little quieter/more secluded than the main area.
Livingston
Livingston Furmeet (18+)
