Secondly, chapter 12 might take a little bit longer. I have tried approaching it from multiple different ways, but have struggled to find a way that feels "right." I don't want to give you guys a chapter that I am unhappy with, you guys deserve better than that!!
All the chapters of ANFFD are currently planned out, so please don't be scared it'll be abandoned. This has been my baby ever since I first conceived the idea in 2021.
Working on next ANFFD chapter and guess what!!! That's right, you have to sit through more of Grian working at café (tm) before you get action!! This guy is making some more coffee!!!
I will eventually make supplemental information cards for each section of the city, but I will roughly explain them right now! Hopefully this helps people understand more of how the city is laid out :)
The supplemental cards will probably contain information like who lives in what area, stats for Hybrid vs Non-Hybrid, Powered vs. Non-Powered, etc.

The city started as Lower Hermittopia and the (not yet) abandoned city. Eventually, due to some issues with flooding and a growing cultural hotpot, the city expanded outwards. The newer cities were built on a higher physical level than the Lowercity.
Hermittopia is the capital of a larger country, founded along the coast due to it’s proximity to prominent trade routes. The capital is divided into two sections, the upper and lower city.
The upper city consists of Boatem, The Shopping District, The Redstone District, Aquatown, Magic Mountain College, and Upper Hermittopia. The lower city consists of Lower Hermittopia and the Abandoned City.
As the city expanded, traders mostly traveled to Aquatown due to it being less likely to flood than the lower city. As people left, mobs became more and more prominent. People condensed into Lower Hermittopia for safety (more people together = more light and sound to scare away mobs.)
Each District tends to hold specific buisnesses, but it’s not exact.
Shopping District:
The shopping district contains most of the general stores. Clothes, grocery, utilities, etc. There are also local vendor fairs that are held often, to support Hermittopia’s small business owners. Mostly families live in the shopping district.
Redstone District
The Redstone District is where most of the tech labs, research institutions, and hospitals exist. There tends to not be very many residential buildings in this district.
Magic Mountain College
Magic Mountain College is the original college from this area. Since then, there has been another university added to this area. This area is largely just the college campus, but also some restaurants and stores for the local college students. If they’re smart, they’ll shop for food in one of the other sectors instead.
Aquatown
Aquatown is the main trade hub created after most people moved away from the lowercity. A lot of trade happens here that supports the capital as a whole. They host 24/7 markets where traders can sell their goods directly to the larger population. A long time ago, this area used to have issues with pirates.
Boatem
Boatem is an area full of independent shops and residential areas. There tends to be less families in this area, mostly just people trying to find good work. Boatem is one of the areas with the most construction, still expanding and modernizing rapidly.
Upper Hermittopia
Upper Hermittopia is the area where the government buildings and housing lay. Within these buildings is the Hermittopia Defense Bureau (The Hermit Heroes). The heroes tend to mostly patrol Upper Hermittopia, but a few of them are told to patrol elsewhere.
Lower Hermittopia
Lower Hermittopia is essentially the only livable area in the lowercity. It contains a large hybrid population and recieves very little assistance from the government. Instead, vigilantes are forced to take up the mantle. Currently, Cuteguy is the only vigilante patrolling the area, but he has worked with other vigilantes before. Nobody shames a vigilante for retiring, they have done their due diligence.
Abandoned City
The Abandoned City is highly dangerous. Because nearly nobody lives there anymore, it has become overrun with mobs. You can really only find villains hiding out in its dilapidated buildings. It is also the area most overrun with skulk.
ok so I just did some planning,,, and we are apparently over halfway to the end of ANFFD. Final chapter count seems to be 19 chapters if I don’t end up making any major changes.
