@strivfe
I love my son.
None of the couples are canon. There shut up. Ship what you want to ship and leave everybody else alone. Simple, easy, not that complicated.
uhhhhhhhhhhhhh
then explain those?
Yes those are called letters. They form what we know to be as “words” on blank pieces of paper.
Where’s the OG in game material in which he tells anybody at all that he loves them. Those big three words? Yeah nowhere. Wild I know. How easy this can be dealt with.
Those “words” all mean “lover” and uh, Cloud and Aerith go on two dates together in the original game. Cloud tells Aerith that HE’S there for her. They have a marriage prediction. Cloud tells Sephiroth that he doesn’t care if the Planet dies now that Aerith is dead. And Cloud says he wants to be with Aerith in the Promised Land.
Connect the dots between those things and you get “lovers”. Fans denied what all of this meant, but Nojima confirmed that all of their interactions were that of lovers. Therefore, Clerith is canon. You interpreted the game incorrectly. Your bias led you to falsely believe that everything you saw between Cloud and Aerith wasn’t romantic, when in fact, it was. Now Nojima’s novel confirms that.
Not to mention, the original game advertised Cloud and Aerith as a “story of a love”
Amano did all this:
I will say this, however, that the LTD will probably equal it out. Clerith in the original game, cloti in the “present”, finished off by clerith as endgame. But this is just speculation on my part. The only facts we have are that Cloud and Aerith are lovers and that’s it.
You can call them facts all you want. Any ship within FFVII is optional regardless of how it’s advertised. Each dynamic homes it’s own potential and that is up to the fan to decide which they like and prefer. Let me repeat: it’s up to the fan to decide which they prefer.
Not shove anything down anybody else’s throats merely because they lack the ability to see that not everybody will agree with what they see. You feel?
Cloud goes on a date with Yuffie. Which I ship. Cloud goes on a date with Tifa. Which I also ship. Cloud goes on a date with Barret as well. Which surprise surprise I also can ship. Your absurd accusation that my interpretation of the game is incorrect only because I say any dynamic could have been a thing is humorous to say the least. The dates are dependent on the player who’s in control of Cloud. All of that is optional. I’m an Amano Stan so I’m all too aware of the work. Art does many things and shall always be beautiful but that does little for your case. I don’t shame you for your ship. Heck I ship them as well, but never considered them canon. None of the ships. Because, again, in the original game, how the characters responded to you was dependent on the bias of the player.
Just because you see a post that’s saying some ship is canon, that doesn’t mean anyone is shoving it down your throat.
And you can repeat your opinion all you want, it’s still your opinion. Regardless of how YOU play the game, Nojima declared Cloud and Aerith as lovers. He obliterated any optionality to Clerith by calling them lovers.
That’s a fact.
You’re the only one who’s engaged on my post. This isn’t /just/ about the canon aspect of things, or that I have a problem with any ship because I can ship pretty much anything and everything with the right amount of interaction, but for the people who do actually do such things. People who can’t handle opinions that don’t match theirs. Who berrate others only because they have a different opinion than they do. Who go out of their way to bother others which in turn only manage to make clowns of themselves. That is also fact. It’s for those who can’t grow up.
kind of like someone that cant handle seeing other people post essays for their ship and says shit like this
so take a dose of your own medicine. ignore the essays. don’t tell people to shut up because they’re discussing a major point in the game. again, you’re the one telling people to shut up therefore you’re forcing your opinion down their throats.
No actually. That wasn’t for the essays at all but for people who, like you, can’t handle opinions that don’t match their own.
Essay posting on the daily is something I do for fun so trust me not the essays lmao.
I will shove, by hand if I have to, to respect a peer you’re right about that.
Point me to these people that inspired your initial post that were displaying the behavior you’re talking about.
Nobody other than a CLOTI fan has been going around crosstagging and calling people “retarded” and “fags” for shipping Clerith.
So, are you talking about the rabid cloti fan? If not, LINK ME to the people in which you speak of. If you cannot provide me with evidence supporting your claim then either you were lying, or you WERE directing your initial post to those that write love triangle essays.
In which case, you are guilty of hypocrisy because you told fans to “shut up” about writing their opinions when you should follow your own advice and let people have their opinions and leave them be.
So again, show me these people that were going all “hitler” about shipping.
Going all hitler awraxa. This is so funny but of course sure thing. You’re a fine example of one, because again you chose to engage for a reason. I’m sadly mobile bound but I’ve got screenshots to spare of both ends so no worries there.
That tag made my night though thanks for the laugh it was getting kind of stale over here awraxa.
Nope, can’t claim I’m one. I’m only talking to you because you told fans “shut up” about their ship opinions. I’m telling you to let fans have their opinions, meanwhile you’re telling us to shut up.
I’m glad you have screenshots. Now point me in the direction of their posts.
When did this role swap plot twist happen this is interesting awraxa. Considering that I said from the start: let people ship what they will.
But of course I’ll do so with much glee.
When you decided to tell everyone that thinks a ship is canon to “shut up”. That’s you displaying INTOLERANCE for other people’s opinions.
Which is what this whole thing is! See how frustrating it is? I’m glad we can agree! People will have their opinions, and it’s no reason to pursue them with malicious intent if they’re not out to hurt you. But claiming I have intolerance when I said from the start Hey you do you is a bit of a stretch there buddy.
None of the couples are canon. There shut up. Ship what you want to ship and leave everybody else alone. Simple, easy, not that complicated.

Alright, everyone. It’s no use thinking about it. We’ll leave all our worries here. Let’s go home proud.
Cloud Strife.
Alright, everyone, let’s mosey.
There ain’t no gettin’ offa this train we’re on!
me, after buying things for myself and trying not to feel guilty about it: *through gritted teeth* s-self care
Gentle reminder that Aerith’s life and decision making didn’t revolve all around Cloud. Thanks for coming to my TED talk please continue on with your hopefully wonderful day.
Good talk. 10/10. Would recommend to Aerith fans everywhere.
A little louder for the people in the back.
Absolutely no one raises an eyebrow when CC made everything Aerith was because of Zack.
Aerith selling flowers, Zack’s idea.
Aerith’s iconic outfit, Zack’s idea.
Aerith’s ribbon, Zack’s idea.
Aerith’s Umbrella weapon, Zack’s idea.
CC stripped Aerith of any individuality and stripped her of the personality that she was loved for and yet every person (jk: it’s just the Tifa and Zack fanboys) in the fandom props up CC like it’s a something amazing. Nearly the entire fandom adores Zerith (which is abusive). No one ever talks bad about how Aerith’s character was made to revolve around Zack in CC.
But the MOMENT clerith fans mention how Aerith’s main “drive” to save the world was for Cloud (because she loves him), everyone suddenly “loves” Aerith and hates that she “revolves around Cloud.”
But they have no problem with CC?
Girl, bye.
Aerith did two selfless things for Cloud, that was going to handle Sephiroth on her own so he could focus on himself. And the second was when she hesitated about going off to pray for Holy, she thought of Cloud and pulled through. These are facts that you antis are going to have to cope with.
I’ve been an Aerith fan for nearly my whole life, you can miss me with the backhandedly manipulation-attempt to make clerith fans feel like they’re doing a disservice to Aerith’s character just because we actually acknowledge a canon fact like her dying for Cloud.
Her dying for Cloud doesn’t mean everything she does revolves around Cloud, either. It just pisses you off that she loved him so much that she was willing to die to protect him. She’s still her sassy, independent, GIRL POWER-self.
And @imacetra you’re not a clerith so don’t even act like you are. You reblogged theycallmeeljeffe
So don’t sit here trying to tell REAL Aerith fans what qualifies as “pro Aerith”.
I’m so god damn tired of this crap. Just leave us alone. Go focus on your boring ships and your boring characters. Stop trying to change who Aerith is just because you don’t like what it ultimately means for the ship wars.
EXCUSE me???
When have I ever tried to say that I was a Clerith shipper? I couldn’t care less about that ship. You can ship what you want, dude, but the second you claim that I hate Aerith, my favorite character in the history of anything, that’s when you get on my bad side. Something you seem to be forgetting is that I’ve talked about how bad CC is time and time again. Ask anyone I talk about it with and they’ll agree that I point out how bad it is.
The only problem I have with Clerith is that some (not all) of the people who ship it try to cram it down everyone’s throats. Yet just because I didn’t point out the shitty things about Zerith (which I have absolutely no interest in anymore, but I won’t bash on it), I’m an awful person that hates Aerith.
I don’t like Clerith. I never will. Because it’s just not my ship. Even if the remake decides to make it canon, I still won’t like it. I’ve NEVER tried to bad mouth you or your ship. Any time I mentioned Clerith, I mentioned Cloti too. And on this in particular post, the ship wasn’t even mentioned. Sure, it was implied that we were talking about Clerith, but there are people who don’t ship Clerith that still think Aerith only sacrificed herself for Cloud.
And even if we WERE talking shit on Clerith, nobody TAGGED it as anti-Clerith or pro-Zerith. We only talked about how Aerith doesn’t revolve around Cloud OR Zack.
I agree with you about CC, however. Aerith was reduced to a helpless saint, and she wasn’t allowed to be her own person. It was fucking awful. I’m confused about the whole “Zerith is abusive” view you have though. And where’s your evidence that most of the fandom adores Zerith? Because I looked through the Zerith tag, and then the Clerith one. It took me WAYYYYYYYYYYY longer to get through the Clerith tag since there was so much content.
As for your claim that “No one ever talks bad about how Aerith’s character was made to revolve around Zack in CC.”, I’d like to point out that I’ve made several posts talking about how bad Crisis Core is. And many others have talked about how much the game sucks as well, especially because of how Aerith’s reduced to “o hai zack look flowers o thanks for ribbon protect me plz”.
I’m not going to touch the “Aerith saved the planet for Cloud” argument with a fifty foot pole, because after 10+ years of debating with people over that, I’m fucking done. But everyone suddenly LOVING Aerith, just because a Clerith shipper brought up that argument is so damn inaccurate. Yes, there are idiots who only stand up for Aerith once Clerith is brought up, but everyone who reblogged this post reblogged it because they genuinely like Aerith. So before you start making accusations, clamp your mouth shut and take a look at who you’re talking about. Because I love Aerith with ALL my heart and soul. Take a look at these posts if you aren’t convinced. Or for that matter, look at the tags on Aerith reblogs, because 99% of them talk about how much I love Aerith, or how beautiful she is. If it doesn’t talk about that, it sure as hell isn’t hating on her.
- “Aerith and Tifa don’t exist just to be compared” - An Entire Essay Defending Aerith - Me talking about how much I love Aerith
“Aerith did two selfless things for Cloud, that was going to handle Sephiroth on her own so he could focus on himself. And the second was when she hesitated about going off to pray for Holy, she thought of Cloud and pulled through. These are facts that you antis are going to have to cope with.”
Even if I WERE a Clerith shipper - which I am not, and never will be - I’d disagree with this. Aerith went to take Sephiroth on yes, to help Cloud, but mainly because the planet was in danger. “It’s only a matter of time before Sephiroth uses Meteor.” “That’s why I’m going to protect it. Only a survivor of the Cetra, like me, can do it.” It was her duty as a Cetra. Nobody else could have done it. Secondly, when did she hesitate to use Holy? When? And again, I’m not questioning this because I don’t ship Cloud and Aerith. I’m questioning this because Aerith didn’t belong to or exist solely for one person. Not Zack, not Cloud, not Tifa, not ANYONE. She had amazing relationships with all of her friends, but she her existence didn’t revolve around any of them.
“I’ve been an Aerith fan for nearly my whole life, you can miss me with the backhandedly manipulation-attempt to make clerith fans feel like they’re doing a disservice to Aerith’s character just because we actually acknowledge a canon fact like her dying for Cloud.” Yes, because if someone doesn’t ship Clerith, it’s their mission in life to manipulate Clerith fans into feeling bad. Like I said before. Nobody in this thread said this was anti-Clerith, or tagged it that way. You’re the one who made things aggressive by accusing people of random shit. And by the way, where’s your proof that Aerith died solely for Cloud? Because even if it IS canon, and your ship is supposedly confirmed, that doesn’t mean nobody can have different ships. This may surprise you, but ships aren’t automatically loved if they become canon.
“And @imacetra you’re not a clerith so don’t even act like you are. You reblogged theycallmeeljeffe”
You’re right, sweetheart. I’m not a Clerith. Never have been, never wanted to be, never claimed or acted like I was. It’s cute that you think being a Clerith shipper is the big holy goal every FFVII fan should aspire to achieve though.
My dude, shipping Clerith doesn’t automatically mean you’re Pro-Aerith. I’ve been Pro-Aerith ever since I joined this fandom. Over 12 years ago. But I don’t ship Clerith. Get over yourself. Your response to this was annoying enough without you trying to draw a line in the sand and say who is and who isn’t a “real” Aerith fan. That was a real low blow.
“I’m so god damn tired of this crap. Just leave us alone. Go focus on your boring ships and your boring characters. Stop trying to change who Aerith is just because you don’t like what it ultimately means for the ship wars.”
I’m tired of this crap too, man. But something YOU need to realize, something you need to get through your head, is that YOU made this thread into an argument. You turned this into a negative thing. The OP was talking about how Aerith is her own person. Not “oh clerith sucks”, but “Hey, Aerith’s existence doesn’t revolve around Cloud.” People have added to it and said that Zerith shippers need to look at this as well, because Aerith doesn’t belong to Zack either. You’re the one who made this about Clerith. You’re the one who needs to leave us alone. We didn’t call you out, we didn’t call your ship out, we said that Aerith is her own person. So how about you back off? We aren’t trying to change who Aerith is. The only one trying to change ANYTHING is you, with your wails of “I’ve been ATTACKED”.
Every single part of me wants to message you a million awful things, and yell at you, and block you, but I’m not going to do that.
You questioned my love for something that I hold right next to my heart. And that’s just a dick move. Ship what you want, but don’t try to make claims about that shit. If you love Aerith half as much as I do, you understand how someone claiming you HATE her is hurtful.
How about you leave me alone?
You’re sick of people bad-mouthing Clerith, yet you go and call our ships boring, and call Zerith “abusive”. If I said Clerith was boring, you’d be all over me. So stop being a hypocrite.
I don’t like Clerith, Cloti, or Zerith. But I’m not going to start bashing on them.
If I say that my ships are superior, that’s my opinion. You have your opinion that YOUR ship is superior, so don’t try to make me look like a dick just because you don’t agree.
You stay in over there in Clerith Town and let other shippers be, and no one will bother you, okay? Because we’re all sick of this pointless fucking bickering over who Cloud or Aerith should be with. Unless someone outright says “Clerith is disgusting and the worst”, then let people have their own damn opinions.
I hope you don’t come back at me with some nasty accusation or comment. I hope you just let this go.
Because that would be the mature thing to do.
Hi. I’m the OP of this post. I’m not gonna tag anybody because I’m tired(tm) from a long 16 hour shift day at work. But I will get some things through here as someone who made the post.
1. Just because I mentioned Cloud’s name it wasn’t a direct attack on the ship. 2. Chill out astoryofalove I forgot your url nobody’s dying. 3. My post wasn’t about a ship. lmao.
I’m not going to write an extensive essay of my case cause trust me I typed this up I know what my intention was. Stop making everything about clerith Shanon, chill. Because it isn’t. I actually had a lot of eyebrow raises for CC but the theme for that game was legacy, how someone who’s gone can leave a huge impact behind and ripple into future events. Though the methods and things in it were not my tea either I still found the game enjoyable and dynamic between protagonists pretty nice.
Aeris wasn’t some sacrificial lamb sorry, not to me. That girl had stuff she wanted to do, places she wanted to go, people she wanted to meet/get close to, move into the future. But I respect your interpretation of the game.
Keep your petty ship discourse warm up starters off my I love this character so much posts thanks. And have a good day.
if there’s anything i’m learning this week is that i really do deserve to be alone and oddly enough it doesn’t bother me too much since i’ve come to terms with that a long ass while ago
