Have to come to a realization that I am not secretly competing against anyone. I am my own person at different stages of growth. The only things I should be competing with is the person I was yesterday and the 24 hours I have before me.
A new week started! A few weeks ago, I made a spread inspired by Aurora Aksnes, my favourite singer. This time, I decided to make a spread inspired by Troye Sivan ! All the quotes in these two pages are from his songs! Check him out if you donât know him đ Donât forget to check my Studygram! The link is in the bio đ

18.11.2014 || This sums up a perfect day in class for me; coffee, digits, onenote and yeah coffee
170618 // I havenât made a post like this in a while, but Iâm revising for an exam right now and itâs the last thing I want to be doing so Iâm procrastinating (donât follow my lead kids).
How I use Digital Notes
Iâll make a more detailed post about how I study at some point, but for now:
I use microsoft onenote, but you can use whatever program you feel comfortable with.
Useful features of onenote include the organisation into notebooks, sections, and tabs, search function, equation support, tagging, and formatting options (inc. different heading styles).
You can find really great posts about onenote quite easily if youâre interested in how it works (I would 100% recommend it).
Throughout the year I type up my class notes, summarising information and organising it into a sensible order.
This took a lot of discipline and I fell off the bandwagon quite a bit. I initially intended to type up my notes from the day every evening, but I found itâs more realistic to just do it as often as possible and to aim to finish each topicâs notes before I move onto the next one.
When I come to revise for exams I will rewrite and summarise my notes on paper (writing out notes helps me remember them, but this may not work for you)
When Iâm doing the first few past papers Iâll have my notes with me so I can look things up until I can do a paper without them.
I find this is more effective than using the mark scheme to help as the mark scheme basically gives you the answers.
Why Make Digital Notes?
Obviously digital notes donât work for everyone, but I find theyâre much more useful to have than notes on paper, at least before you start revising.
The main benefits of digital notes are:
typing is faster than writing
search functions (depending on the program) to look up information quickly
neater and faster formatting
you can back them up somewhere else so you donât have to worry about losing or damaging them
you can bring all your notes with you without it weighing a tonne (assuming your laptop/tablet doesnât weigh a tonne)
copy and paste! Ofc use this as infrequently as possible, but itâs useful for quotes etc.
pictures without the effort of drawing or printing out and sticking in
cheaper as you donât have to buy pens and paper as often
an excuse to bring your computer into school and then go online shopping and play games during really boring classes no I havenât done this what are you talking about so you have access to google etc. to look things up whenever
Prioritising
The only reason Iâve managed to keep up with my notes throughout the year is because I donât take any for maths and Iâve kind of fallen off the bandwagon for French (whoops). Itâs a bit unrealistic to expect to keep up with all the notes for all your subjects (particularly if youâre doing gcses), so prioritise.
Subjects like maths tend to assess a skill rather than knowledge, so itâs probably more useful to do practice questions rather than make notes.
If youâre dropping a subject in a year and wonât touch it again make sure itâs actually worth making notes for the whole year.
In Class or After Class?
Whether you write notes on the computer during class or afterwards depends on the class.
Iâve got one particular teacher who flits back and forth between topics and often mentions things without going into detail because she assumes weâre too stupid to understand (not my favourite teacher ngl). So I use my laptop in her lessons so I can go back to topics weâve already done and so I can google things to fact check (she frequently dumbs stuff down to inaccurate levels) and expand on points that she makes.
If youâve got a teacher that tends to move super fast it might be worth having a computer with you as typing is generally much faster than writing.
If you canât touch type learning is a really good idea, even just to improve the speed of your typing (I canât actually touch type but I took a course until I learnt to use all my fingers when typing and now I type much faster). Thereâs lots of free online courses available.
Alternatively, you can just make all your class notes on paper and type up the important information when you get home.
This means you donât have to worry about your class notes being neat enough to revise from; after you type them up you can file them or even throw them away to save space.
It also works as a review which is really good for putting the information into your long-term memory.
However it is also pretty time consuming so youâve got to be super disciplined to keep on top of it.
In my school at a levels Iâve found itâs not too unusual to have a laptop out but itâs a bit odd to have one at gcses (idk about other schools). Obviously you shouldnât care about what other people think, but if having your laptop/tablet with you will make you feel self-conscious and uncomfortable then leave it at home.
Also laptops and tablets are expensive and itâs understandable if youâd rather keep them safe at home.
That said, people do get used to it. Even if youâre the only one with a laptop/tablet, the novelty wears off quickly.
Some teachers donât actually like students using laptops and tablets during class, so do check before you bring it in.
I hope this helped! Of course if you have any questions about this (or anything else) my ask is always open please ask me something
Hereâs where I post this and find 56 typos :/

firstly, feel free to request more french masterposts. flirting in french; god, how i would love to be smooth in any language. seriously, if i could neal caffrey my way through france, that would be great. so, this is a masterpost on how to flirt in french. - iâd like to think this is pretty important - as this is part of socializing in any language. flirtation is a very different thing than âpicking up.â picking up is a kind of hunting game with a very pointed and invariable goal: to be making out as soon as possible! think barney from how i met your mother challenge accepted. flirtation, at least in france, is a totally different thing. itâs a different culture, a different lifestyle. itâs a way of being in everyday life, and unlike picking up, it has no defined goal. sometimes the french flirt because itâs just delightful to do so. think salt to pepper relationship. allowing each one to check, and at different levels, if he or she still has some charm operating.Â
i would say that simple is always best: merely walk up to your chosen girl or guy and say je vous trouve absolument charmante (I find you absolutely charming / beautiful. be classy and to the point. with that and mind, read on! letâs learn some classic phrases to become a regular femme fatale, shall we?
so; why flirt in french?
well, french is a sexy language. not going to lie.Â
itâs the planetâs most-hyped language of love.
reaching that level of fluency feels amazing.
it gives you that confidence. social confidence.
becoming a smooth talker feels nice. i want to be one, anyway.Â
tired of searching for love in english?Â
french learning and french flirtingÂ
letâs face it: in france, (or in any country for that matter), nobody speaks like a textbook, the president, or a language learning site (iâm looking at you, duolingo). itâs great for memorizing the fundamentals, but lacks that extra step that stands between you and complete fluency.Â
flirting is part of socializing - and linguistically (i donât know, it helped with me) it improves retention. itâs also just interesting to learn!Â
flirting is just well.. fun. even if it doesnât go anywhere.
a bit of verbal charm isnât always necessary : but in my opinion, it helps you sound more natural / at ease / friendly.Â
i somewhat lack verbal charm (iâm very, very awkward in social situations) so i probably need this masterpost as much as anyone else (:Â
the classics: make love last. this is based upon what iâve heard at school / restaurants / bars. okay fine: itâs based on the movies iâve watched too.Â
jâai envie de tâembrasser / embrasse-moi - kiss me.. annouce it - make your intentions known! âiâd like to kiss youâ - okay, you could just kiss someone instead of letting them know. but i donât know.. thereâs something romantic about it? best with a longing, meaningful stare.Â
je tâaime: iâm pretty sure we all know this one. best with someone you care deeply for, i wouldnât say this on a first date - but if youâre the direct type : this can help you get from a to z pretty quickly.Â
the simple compliments: short and sweet using these with a flirty look / tone of voice (as iâve seen amongst my friends) can do wonders. play with your expression while practicing these: it makes a difference, trust me. you can begin with (oh putain) to make it sound authentic. itâs not (really) a âswear wordâ and people use it often. best used in an informal setting. example: putain, tâes toujours canon toi ou quoi? you can also add trop ( = too). example: trop belle, trop mignon(ne). you can also add tellement ( = so) example: tâes tellement belle! you can also add si ( = so) example: tâes si mignonne. you can also use grave ( = totally) example: tâes grave belle.Â
tâes mignon(ne).
tâes belle (/beau), toi.Â
tâes canon. ( = youâre smoking hot).Â
tâes con(ne). ( = youâre an idiot) - iâve seen this used a lot flirtatiously.
tâes drĂŽle. ( = youâre funny)
tâes magnifique.Â
tâes charmant(e).Â
t'es coquin / coquine! ( = youâre such a tease.)
the âsocial and the flirtyâ inspired by my class facebook chat and group. some of them are direct quotes (: these can be used as compliments / or flirtatiously. depends on your relationship with the person youâre giving them to.Â
cette beautĂ© chaton, tu mâ Ă©blouie. ( = you dazzle me with your beauty.)
une beautĂ© divine. ( = a divine beauty or: youâre so divine.)
ouloulouloulouloulou. ( = you really have to hear this one.)
tu brilles de mille feux.
j'te pĂ©cho. ( = like the equivalent of âto pick up someoneâ in english).Â
bg, or beau / belle gosse ( = hot guy, hot girl).Â
une petite merveille. ( = a wonder, someone to be marveled at).Â
une bombe. ( = bombshell, someone pretty - same thing as âbelle gosseâ.)
le petit cĂŽtĂ© mystĂ©rieux femme fatale je kiffe. - je kiffe means i like.Â
la beautĂ© Ă l Ă©tat pur ( = beauty at its purest form).Â
dingue! ( = crazy, as in crazy beautiful).Â
j'ai pas les mots.( = i have no words).Â
wahhh, la classe! ( = classy!)
câest fou, tant de beautĂ© ( = youâre so beautiful, itâs crazy.)
flirting at a bar or restaurant?Â
tâas dâbeaux yeux, tu sais? the phrase âyouâve got beautiful eyesâ pretty much works in any language (though, i think it sounds extra gorgeous in french). the phrase actually comes from a french film called le quai des brumes. fair warning: this is an extreme clichĂ©, : itâs basically the english equivalent of do you come here often? it can be said ironically, if youâre not the clichĂ© type. best with a wink and a devilish smile (;Â
je peux tâoffrir / vous (formal) une verre ? : can i buy you a drink?
vous ĂȘtes cĂ©libataire ? mais comment est-ce possible ? - youâre single? but howâs that possible?Â
vous venez souvent ici ? - do you come here often? ha, classic.  a phrase that transcends cultural barriers: â the sentence could be followed up by complaints â about the bartender, about the clients or about how the bar isnât as good as it used to be. a french tradition is rĂąler, a sort of complaining. finding things to complain about is a way that many french people choose to bond with new acquaintances. this is not true of anyone.
tâas une miette (youâve got a crumb) as you pretend to stroke something off of someoneâs face, first with your fingers, then with your lips.
tu mâexcites ! ( = you turn me on.)
âjâai une premiĂšre Ă©dition de âĂ la recherche du temps perdu.â tu veux le voir ?â -  i have the first edition of âin search of lost time. (written by proust). do you want to see it?â in france (for me, at least) cultural knowledge is sexy. in America, we often ask if youâd like a nightcap. choose something cultural and intellectual in france, and youâre far more likely to get a oui.
je veux te revoir. ( = i want to see you again.)Â
alors, ça roule? ( = how you doinâ - joey, friends.)
excuse-moi. est-ce que tâembrasses les inconnus ? non ? donc, je me prĂ©sente. excuse me, do you kiss strangers? No? then let me introduce myself.
excuse-moi, j'ai perdu mon numero de tĂ©lĂ©phone. est-ce que je peux t'emprunter le tien?â excuse me, i seem to have lost my phone number. could I borrow yours?Â
let me know if youâd like to know more! you can never be too charming (:
