Ok this is cute but this octopus is living in a brick⊠Stop polluting our oceans
This brick probably is just junk but itâs worth noting that sometimes âpollutionâ seen in footage like this isnât actually garbage. Thereâs a lot of organizations that take old cars, ships, etc and strip all the paint and other harmful components and then place it in the bottom of the sea for new coral reefs to grow on. Besides that there will unfortunately always be pollution and I would rather it be a brick an octopus can make a home from than plastic bags that sea creatures will die from eating.
Artificial reefs are pretty cool!
Theyâre often used to provide habitats for corals, fish, and other marine life where the natural ocean floor has been eroded or disturbed by human use. They can be purpose-made like those reef balls up there, or they can be made out of recycled objects like cinderblocks.
While not all human-made materials are safe for reef use (tires used to be a popular choice, but then it was discovered that not only do they not stay put, they tend to leech toxins), sometimes marine life doesnât actually care- they adapt to what we put in the water. A good example of that is the Rigs-to-Reef program, which takes offshore oil platforms and decommissions them by turning them into artificial reefs. While oil platforms are in use, sea life congregates around them, so instead of abandoning these platforms or removing them, which would disrupt what has become the ânew normalâ for these animals, theyâre toppled and coral grows on them.Â
Anyways, I realize that Iâve totally derailed the awesome octopus and its teddy bear, but I just think that artificial reefs are neat!Â

If I could offer a young person advice about anything it would be do NOT make life decisions based on your boyfriend or girlfriend. Girls especially. Do NOT stay close to home for him, do not skip opportunities to travel or study abroad, do not pick a safe college to be with him. Expand your horizons. Broaden your own life. He is not the world.
I want everyone who disagrees with this post to come back to me in a couple years and tell me how that shit worked out.

I guarantee this was their goal from the start. Drive out all the black people through sickness and financial strain. I bet you the minute they clear all the black folks out, the city will suddenly have clean water again, just in time for white people to buy up all the property.

MOM OF THE YEAR. WHERE WAS THIS ATTITUDE WHEN I WAS IN GRADE SCHOOL.
Thereâs a difference between not sharing and refusing to be bullied.
How Ponify ruined my life
Possibly the most horrifying thing that has ever happened to me occurred today. So Iâm in a creative writing class at university right now and we had to print out twenty-five copies of our first, one page assignment to distribute to the class. I had to print mine at the computer lab as I donât have a printer, but here are the three crucial facts that made this the worst mistake of my life.
1. Sometimes, when you log into Google on Chrome, it activates all of your extensions, even ones youâve deactivated.
2. In high school, my friends and I got really into Ponify (a words replacing chrome extension) and switched the preferences so we could read political articles and have congress get into a ârousing snow ball fightâ and the like.
3. Ponify reverted to its original My Little Pony lingo when opened on a new computerâs chrome.
So when I distributed my twenty-five copies of this I noticed the word âeveryponyâ, my heart seized up and dropped into my stomach, and with my imminent death approaching, I began furiously correcting all twenty-five of them. My teacher, confusedly, agreed to let me correct them as I was too infuriated and ashamed to say my mistake aloud.Â
I just realized, however, that the line âas she watched the binding fall away in her handâ was changed to âas she watched the binding fall away in her hoofâ.Â
And I just had to send this email:
And basically Iâm ready for death how was your day
Besides training all the major Greek heroes, Chiron was also a doctor.
That would make him the Centaur for Disease Control.
*sigh*
so there are lots of good pictures of baby peacocks practicing displaying
(i found most of these on google image search but thought they were important to show the world)
this is the most ridiculous thing Iâve ever seen.
I love it.
When theyâre this age or a little older, theyâll display at anything roughly their size: chickens, cats, work bootsâŠ
OH! NO! It somehow never occurred to me that this would be a thing thank you for sharing this OP my life has been enriched
Oh my gosh. I knew that all babies practice adult behaviors, but Iâd never thought about baby peacocks practicing this behavior. Iâm dead of cute.Â
guys listen
mermaids would have to be dark-skinned and chubby to survive in the oceanÂ
water isnt a great means of protecting oneself from the sun theyd have to be very dark if they were shallow mermaids and they didnt want to be constantly sunburnt and they may be paler if they lived deeper in the water but theyd have to be buff and/or chubby as hell to resist the water pressure and cold of the deep sea
what im saying is pale-ass white skinny mermaids are just unrealistic
i trust him
this is what a male feminist should look like

Minimum wage: $7.25
$7.25 x 40 hour full time work week: $290
$290 x 4 weeks per month: $1,160
In every Southern state (didnât have time to look at the rest of the country) you can find some sort of studio apartment for around $500 per month, sometimes less than that. Why bother lying about something so easily disproven?Â
Because Bernie Sanders supporters arenât going to fact check him, and theyâll ignore any contrary evidence thatâs presented to them anyways.
Things like this really tick me off and Itâs not political or anything but itâs the fact that you think all that money is there. Hereâs what I mean;
That weekly check comes to, according to you, 290. Most places DO NOT pay for your half hour lunch that is required by law. So your beginning number was wrong. $7.25 x 7.5 hours a day x 5 days a week only gets you $271.88. Â Most people in America get paid bi-weekly, so letâs double it to get the budget. $543.75. Thatâs GROSS, not NET. Out of that comes anywhere between 10% and 15% taxes depending on state so weâll low ball it at 10%. Automatically down to $489.38 a pay check. Now health insurance. Usually anywhere from 70-100 a pay check for the cheapest plans. Again, weâll low ball and go $70. So now we have $419.39 a paycheck. x 2 Â = $839.Â
Eight hundred thirty nine dollars. A MONTH.
But again, you seem to think thatâs fair. So letâs proceed. You say rent is $500? Okay. This person now has $339 left to buy groceries for the whole month, pay utilities, car payment, car insurance, and gas money to get to work.Â
Those are the bare needs. You have to eat. You have to pay for heat, water, garbage removal, gas and or electricity because apartments do not always include things and rarely all of the above. Most cities in America do not have public transportation. Mine doesnât despite the fact that our population is over 15,000 people, not counting a taxi. If you have a car, you have to pay that. If you have a car, legally you have to have car insurance. You have to pay that. You have to have gas in that car to get to work to make that money.
Now if you can tell me you can get all of that out of $339 youâre lying.
You are so focused on rent that you arenât thinking about everything else people have to pay for. Rent was an example. This is a breakdown of the budget you gave me and itâs not possible to live off that in 2017 America.Â
And BECAUSE this person makes over $800 a month, they probably wonât qualify for financial aid or food stamps. $800 is the line in my state where they wonât help you. No food stamps, financial aid, or government housing if you make more than $800 a month.Â
Why does it bother you that people deserve to live above the poverty line?
