INTERVIEW
part one ( you )
do you have any criminal history? anything big or small that you want to make us aware of?
“no ma’am,” he turned to the man next to the woman, “no sir,” he smiled at them both politely, “i apologize, i dunno which one of you both i should be talkin’ to. just tryin’ to show y’all the manners y’all deserve.” he smiled, nodding over to the new guy, “now knowing some of my classmates, i reckon it ain’t been that easy, i’ll try and keep everything easy for y’all.” he paused for a moment, thinking. “well, it ain’t on my record, cuz it ain’t my crime, but i don’t want y’all thinkin’ i’m keepin’ somethin’ from y’all. my father was murdered back down in alabama, but that ain’t nothin’ to do with all that.” he returned to his polite smile to them.
what is your connection to daisey? how did you know her? how well did you know her?
“now, i didn’t know her all that well. we ended up running in near by circles, y’all know how that goes.” he explained, his hands gesticulating as he spoke. “it truly is something that she’s gone, i’ve been praying for her.” he nodded solemnly.
have you visited the blog site “veritasexposed”? if you have, how credible do you find the information on this site? do you know who runs the website?
he furrowed his brows momentarily, thinking hard on the matter. “i know of it of course. pretty much the whole school watches it as it posts. it’s awful scary. i believe what they say, mostly cuz of how everyone reacts to it all.” he locked his fingers together and placed them on the desk. “i wish i knew who ran it, but i don’t know anythin’ about them. they keep themselves real secretive.”
part two ( daisey )
do you remember where you were the night daisey went missing? if so, where were you? what were you doing? who were you with?
his face held a neutral expression as he listened to their questions. he took the cup of water in front of him before he spoke. “after the football game, i went back to my dorm to wash up. and then i waited out by my car the whole night to meet someone. they never showed up though. ain’t nobody would’ve seen me.” his face turned apologetic, “i’m sorry that ain’t very helpful to y’all folk.”
where were you the night daisey’s body was recovered?
“my mom got some extra money to fly me down just in time for christmas, so i was back home in alabama, didn’t hear about what happened till i got back up here.” he explained, drinking from the cup again, now finishing it. “is there a way i can have any more of this?” he asked, holding the cup out to them. the officers just told him that he was almost finished, and wouldn’t need to worry. he nodded, resting back into his chair.
how familiar are you with the ashmont woods? have you been there often? have you recently ventured out here? if so, why?
“i ain’t had much time to go out very deep into them, but i know woods pretty well. i used to go hunting a lot back home, so woods are pretty easy for me to understand and get the hang of.” he explained, hands moving more as he spoke, “but not those woods much, i’m a pretty busy student, i would if i had time, i’m much more of a country boy than any type of city fellow.” he smiled slightly, hoping the room wouldn’t feel so heavy.
part three ( the investigation )
do you have feelings towards the investigation? any comments?
“i really respect what y’all are tryin’ to do out here. if there’s anything else y’all need just let me know how i can help. all of y’all are in my prayers.” he nodded at them, standing up, taking the disposable cup that held his water with him as he walked to the door.
do you have any people you feel the police should look into? please, let us know who and why.
“i don’t know if any of my classmates would be able to do anything like that.” he said planely, his expression unreadable behind his gentle smile.
