I always thought I might be bad               Now Iâm sure that its true                  âCause I think youâre so good                     And Iâm nothing like you
Ice is having some trouble dragging the heavy blanket to the couch. He wanted to snuggle under it with Cut but the blanket isn't cooperating.
Cut was sitting on the couch and playing a video game on a handheld console. It took him a moment to notice Ice, and he looked up at him with confusion.
âHey there, little bro. Do yâneed some help?â
(This blog and my other blogs for this group are all going through a rebootâ Anything before this post is going to be non-canon.)
Canât hide it from him
cutewintersoldier:
Flat gave a small whimper as Cut moved him so heâd have to look at his brother. He didnât want to. Cut was probably disgusted that he had such a worthless brother who could become completely incapacitated for no reason other than just existing. However, when he looked in Cutâs eyes all he saw was care. Care and a lot of worry.
Cutâs words of reassurance made him want to cry for a whole other reason. He didnât understand, he saw what happened. Why did he say nothing changed?
âBecause of this. Nothing made that happen to me, I just stopped working for no reason. If a robot doesnât work right it means theyâre broken.â
Cut stayed silent after Flat had finished speaking, carefully processing the information.
âWell...We can figure out what might be goinâ on, okay?â He said. âItâs not your fault and nobody is going to hate you for it. We could get it figured out sooner if we tell the others, but...If you want to put that off then thatâs okay. Iâm the first one to know about this, right? If I am, then it doesnât seem like youâre ready to tell anyone else just yet...â
He rested his forehead against Flatâs once more, giving him an affectionate nuzzle.
âSpeaking of, is there anythinâ I can do now that youâre calmed down a bit? We can head down someplace and get ice cream or something if you want to.â

cutewintersoldier:
Flat took a few more deep breaths as he weakly clung to Cut. A few tears trickled down his face as he tried to calm down. The last thing he wanted was another attack right after the last one.
He curled in on himself a bit more when Cut asked why he didnât want to tell anyone about this. How could explain it? His reasons would just sound stupid but he couldnât lie to him either, not to his brother.
âIâm scared. Iâm broken and people wonât like me if they knew.â A horrible thought occurred to him and he held onto the other DLN tighter. âYou probably donât like me anymore now that you know.â
Noticing the tears, Cut gingerly wiped them away with his thumb. He waited for his sibling to respond, a concerned frown on his face.
His eyes widened slightly in surprise as he listened to Flat. He shifted the smaller DLN in his arms so that he would look at him.
âHey, hey. Youâre not broken. Nobodyâs gonna start hating you.â Cut said, gently placing his forehead against Flatâs as the scissors on his head flattened back. He gave Flat a reassuring squeeze. âI still like you fine. Nothing is going to change that, okay? I promise. I want to help.â He paused as a thought-- one that scared him-- occurred to him.
â...Why do you think youâre broken...?â
There could be numerous answers to his question. He didnât know what answer he would get. He just didnât want Flat to be afraid that people wouldnât like him anymore.

Eventually the backed up data was cleared out and he was able to get his temperature to stabilize. It was still a bit warm considering how hard his core had been working but it was much better than it had been before. The attack was over but he was still feeling the after effects. He hadnât had one this bad in a while and he knew it would have been so much worse if it wasnât for Cut being there. At least he hadnât shut down this time.
He buried his face in Cutâs chest when he said he didnât want him breaking. Well he didnât have to worry about that, Flat knew he was already broken.
âPleas donât tell anyone else.â Large blue eyes looked up at the other robot. The less people who knew about this the better.
The older DLN sighed slightly in relief as he felt Flatâs temperature go down to a more normal level. When he buried his face against his chest, Cut held onto him tighter, nuzzling against him slightly as a form of comfort. Had he known what Flat was thinking about being broken he would have tried to shut down that kind of thinking as soon as possible.
He moved his head away when he heard Flat speaking to him, looking down at his sibling. He frowned, looking concerned. He didnât want to keep it a secret, but he didnât want to make Flat even more anxious, either. Just why was he hiding something like this anyway?
âOkay, okay.â Cut replied, his voice rather gentle. âI wonât if it makes you happy, but I have to ask...Why donât you want anyone else knowing? They can help.â

Flat was doing all he could to just focus on his simulated breathing trying to ignore the several other thoughts and fears he was having that was just backing up his processor. Just focus on one thing and eventually his processor could start to keep up with everything. The temperature fluctuations continued but slowly the back up in his processor started to fix itself and his core began to work at a normal speed.
However, when seeing Dr. Light about this was brought up his eyes shot open and he looked to his brother pleadingly. âNO! I mean no, itâs ok. This never lasts long.â
Cut was startled when Ice looked up at him so suddenly and so desperately. âOkay, okay. Just calm down.â He said, shifting Flat in his arms slightly. âI just...I donât want you to end up breakinâ on me, yâknow?â
He was growing more worried as he processed the fact that it had all happened before. From how Flat said it, it sounded like he was used to it.
â...â He tightened his grip on Flat, resting his chin gently on his younger brotherâs head as he went silent. He wanted to ask how many times it had happened, but decided to wait until Flat calmed down. He didnât want to get him back to full-out panic.
At the same time, he felt guilty. How many times had Flat been like this and had nobody to help him? How had Cut not noticed it happening?
Canât hide it from him
Feeling Cut hold him close again helped Ice focus on him better though the contact still made him scared. Being held by Cut would mean he would be able to feel his changing temperature and there would be no way to hide that.
He closed his eyes again and let his core slowly go back to a normal pace as his simulated breathing helped cool is systems off. When he heard Cut ask what was going on again he shook his head. He couldnât tell him, he just couldnât.
The feeling of Iceâs temperature changing nearly made Cut panic. He brought his brother closer to himself, resting Iceâs head against his chest. Upon seeing his little brotherâs response to his question, he sighed shakily. He tried his best to not appear as though he was scared for his sibling, if only because he feared that would worsen whatever was going on with Ice.
âDâya need to go to Dr. Light? You keep getting hot and cold...You can tell me whatâs going on, you know that, right? I want to be able to help you, bro.â
Canât hide it from him
Flat wanted to protest as he was picked up but the world seemed to tilt as he was held and he felt sick all over again. There was no way he could make any coherent thoughts let alone a convincing argument.Â
It was then he found himself in bed and he curled up. His internal temperature started to fluctuate as his headache grew. Ok just focus on Cut, having something other than his attack to think about would held end them fast. Maybe heâd be able to convince his brother it really wasnât that bad once he was no longer panicking.
Cutâs worry began to grow when Flat didnât respond to him. That must have meant that Flat was worse off than Cut initially thought.
He took the DLN into his arms again, curling up with him as he attempted to comfort his brother. â...Can yâtell me whatâs going on?â He asked, his voice softer than normal as he looked down at Flat. âIâm worried.â
Canât hide it from him
There was someone talking and he felt something on his shoulder. He opened his eyes to be met with a world of orange and white. Even through his glitching processor he could tell who it was.
No pleas no. Anyone finding him like this would have been horrible but why did it have to be Cut? Heâd always been closest to the other DLN and if he saw how broken he really was he wouldnât want anything to do with him anymore.
âItâŠitâs nothing.â He grit his teeth as a wave of heat passed threw him. Loss of internal temperature already? He didnât have much time. âJâŠjust need to gâŠget to room. Iâll bâŠbe fine.â
Cut frowned when Flat said that it was nothing.
âBro, youâre stumblinâ around and yâlook awful. I donât think that counts as being fine.â He said. âHere, Iâll take you to your room and yâcan rest and tell me whatâs goinâ on.â If Flat wanted to go to his room, then Cut would take him there.
That being said, he gently scooped the smaller robot into his arms, carrying him into his room. He struggled a bit with opening the door as he shifted Flat to his other arm, but managed to open it and enter the room. He closed the door shut behind him, carefully setting Flat down on his bed as he sat down beside him.
He looked at his brother, worry in his expression as he waited for a reply. Had he known the full extent of what was going on, he wouldnât have pushed Flat for an answer.
Canât hide it from him
No no no. Flat could feel his core start to speed up as his processor backed up. He hadnât had an attack for over a month now why did they have to start up again? Gritting his teeth threw the horrible feeling he tried to make it to his room. There he could wait it out and no one would see just like every other time. He usually had about 10 minutes before it got too bad so he had time to get there. He stumbled forward down the hall as he grasped the wall. Oh why did he have to be able to simulate nausea? In the mist of his attack he didnât notice there was someone else in the hall with him.
Cutman had always known that something was off about Flat-- but he didnât know the full extent of it. He knew that it was something, yet he could never figure it out.
Which was why when he saw Flat stumbling around in the hallway and gripping the wall, Cut knew that it might have had to do with whatever Flat kept trying to hide from everyone.
Concern came over that, however, as Cut went over to Flat, placing a hand on his shoulder. âHey, are you alright...?â He asked, âFlat, whatâs going on?â
