We were psyched to see two wonderful auditions for Tina, but in the end we’ve decided to go with Larissa as our new addition! Welcome to the group, LARISSA! Please follow the new member checklist and send in your account in the next 24 hours!
Also, to address your questions / concerns:
You are correct as for the reason that Tina’s bio is at a different point in the show timeline than the others. We wanted to give her a clean slate, and that includes her relationship with Sam. They’ve yet to get together at this point. We love the points you chose to fill that gap though!
Finn and Tina’s father is around; for the sake of the show we decided to go with it being Burt.
Finn actually only has the one son, Ben, from his former marriage.
We love your change on the bio to being focused on Tina’s confidence and stutter rather than it being a weight issue, so that definitely works for us!
▼ OOC INFORMATION:
Name / Alias: Larissa
Age: 29
Timezone: GMT+10
Activity Level: 6-7/10 during the week. Usually more on weekends. I try my best to be active at least once a day but as I live in Australia, sometimes it’s a little difficult to sync times.
Previous RP accounts (to show us what you can do!):
Removed for privacy.
Anything Else: I’m a little confused about the timeline and where things will be starting from in the revamp. I think from the bios it’s about ‘midway-late’ stage FRIENDS because of the baby and Sam’s job change? But I’m assuming Sam/Tina haven’t gotten together yet by this stage? I’m sure I’ll figure out if I get accepted and can discuss what’s what with everyone! :)
▼ IN CHARACTER INFORMATION:
Character Name: Tina Cohen-Chang
Character Birthday: March 9th
Ships: Tina/Chemistry. (I’ve never had the opportunity to rp Samtina before but I LOVE rare ships and would love to give it a try!!)
Anti-Ships: Tina/Forced.
▼ At least 2 additional bullet points to your character’s bio:
(1) Always the romantic, Tina waited a long time for her prince to one day come riding in. Little did she know, her prince would come in the form of her ophthalmologist… who also just happened to be one of her adoptive father’s closest friends. She and Richard dated for almost one year - a year spent completely and utterly in love - leading Tina to think that she had found ‘THE ONE’. As such, she couldn’t help but start planning for their future together, especially when her brother gave birth to his second son. That’s when everything began to fall apart. She soon learned that Richard – who already had two adult children with his first wife – didn’t want to have any more kids. The realisation broke her heart, and despite trying her best to resign herself to a life without kids of her own, the strain eventually ended their relationship.
(I’m not sure if their dad is alive? This can be changed to mother’s closest friend if you’d like. I was just basing this part on Monica’s relationship with Richard.)
(2) Picking up the pieces of her broken heart was not easy, and Tina even entertained a ‘friends with benefits’ relationship with Richard for a short while after. However, they kept coming back around to the same problem. Eventually, Tina decided it was time to throw herself into something else, which is why she’s recently begun laying the groundwork to someday owning her own restaurant. She knows there’s a lot to do, and it’ll be a long a difficult road, but it’s just the distraction Tina needs to help get over what she views – at least, at the moment – as the great love of her life.
Any changes to the bio? Please address those here:
Could I change Tina’s weight issue to confidence issues? I’d love to incorporate Tina’s stutter into her backstory. For example: For years, Tina has been working in the city as a chef, and has quietly been making a name for herself among the top restaurants in New York. Tina has always been a little on the shy side. When she was young, she had a very pronounced stutter that took her years to overcome, and in times of immense stress traces of it still come through. However, chefs all over the city are certainly impressed by her quiet tenacity and creativity in the kitchen. Her main problem is keeping her head while under pressure – which, as everyone knows, is not the best thing when in the kitchen during the dinner rush.
This is just an idea, and I’m really okay with her backstory going either way, so whatever works best for the rp! :)

We’re going to be accepting tomorrow night around 10 PM CST, so anyone interested in applying for Tina (or the suggested replacement characters) needs to do so by that time! Once accepted, the dash will be open for interaction again; keep it mind that it’s a year forward to the date!
Good evening, friends! That’s right, we have amazing news! After a few months of a hiatus here, we’ve officially revamped things. The main has a new look as do our blogs, and we’re moving our pals a year forward, to 2018! The bios have been updated accordingly with what’s happened within the past year. As of the moment we’re only looking for one role to fill, keeping this a 2x2. That’s not to say, however, that we won’t be adding more characters later on, which is a possibility!
Taken characters are Finn, Sam, and Quinn. Any other previous ones should be unfollowed.
Right now we’re in need of a partner for our wonderful Sam! It is a role loosely based on Monica Geller and the Mondler pairing (as this is a Friends inspired group)! Our Sam’s preferred partner is Tina, for Samtina endgame, but is also open to Mercedes for Samcedes, or Kitty for Sitty. We would love to see some apps roll in, and are currently planning to restart the dash officially on Saturday, April 1st!
If there are any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to message us!
TINA COHEN-CHANG (based loosely on Monica Geller) is a 26 year old CHEF living in New York City. Her relationship status is “single,” and her endgame is SAMTINA. The role of Tina is not available for auditions.
☕ SO NO ONE TOLD YOU LIFE WAS GONNA BE THIS WAY …
Tina was born in Seoul, Korea, and by the age of 3 was adopted by the Hudson family and brought to America. She was embraced immediately by her new parents and adoptive brother, Finn, and when she grew to be of an age to make up her own mind Tina decided to honor her birth parents and keep her original last name with full support from the rest of her family. Tina’s best friend growing up was Quinn Fabray, and despite the sizeable gap in family incomes the girls remained that way throughout high school. After graduation they lost touch, Tina going on to culinary school while Quinn settled into her lifestyle of wealth and expected marriage. All of a sudden now after years without communication Quinn has dropped back into her life, and through a twist of fate is now Tina’s roommate.
Previously, Tina had been sharing her apartment with a friend of hers who’d needed a place to stay. Across the hall is Sam Evans and his roommate, her brother’s best friends and two guys she’s gotten to know pretty well. In fact, Tina’s known Sam ever since he was Finn’s roommate in college, and may or may not be responsible for the missing tip of his toe. Any and all of them are known to drop by the apartment whenever they feel like it, because it’s not such a secret that Tina enjoys playing hostess.

SAM EVANS (based on Chandler Bing) is a 29 year old ENTREPRENEUR AND COMIC SHOP OWNER living in New York City. His relationship status is “single,” and his endgame is SAMTINA. The role of Sam is not available for auditions.
☕ SO NO ONE TOLD YOU LIFE WAS GONNA BE THIS WAY…
Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Sam Evans first met Finn Hudson when they attended college together and were placed together as roommates in their first year. Best friends ever since, Sam was also introduced to Finn’s sister and her best friend Quinn while accompanying Finn home to celebrate Thanksgiving a few times.
After moving to New York following college Sam picked up a temporary office job while he figured out what he wanted to do with his future. That job lasted for years with the same company; his role as a Information Technology Procurement Manager was one that he hated, and felt stuck in for too long.
Sam lives across the hall from Finn’s sister and Quinn, along with his own roommate and one of his best friends, a working actor. After his roommate answered a want ad and moved in, the boys became inseparable.
After years of wishing he had the courage to leave his job and find something that calls to him, Sam finally did. First it began doing online trading with some of his collectibles– comic books, action figures, toys; any kind of ‘geek’ memorabilia. However, as his business Sam Sells Stuff grew, he recently expanded his horizons by purchasing a comic book shop. Even if took him a while to find himself and his passion, Sam has always been great at offering encouragement and advice to others.
His insecurities and penchant for overthinking makes dating a bit of a disaster, but manages to hide his fears and disappointments well, with dry humor and killer impressions. ‘Make ‘em laugh’ is his go-to mood.

QUINN FABRAY (based on Rachel Green) is a 26 year old PERSONAL SHOPPER living in New York City. Her relationship status is “it’s complicated,” and her endgame is FUINN. The role of Quinn is not available for auditions.
☕ SO NO ONE TOLD YOU LIFE WAS GONNA BE THIS WAY…
After leaving her fiance Biff McIntosh at the altar, Quinn had to adjust to a new independent lifestyle. She’d been cut off by her father, who she was used to pampering her like a princess, and it wasn’t easy. She wanted to be happy, and the dentist she was dating wasn’t fulfilling that desire.
Quinn was working as a waitress at the local coffee shop, Central Perk. She hated the job and wasn’t that great at it, but as of the last year finally stepped into something she’s more passionate about– fashion. Or, shopping, to be exact. She’s a personal shopper at Bloomingdale’s and loves it. The pay is much better as well as the job itself. There’s many designer perks too. The only downfall is it’s much harder for her friends to come visit her at work, but they still all hang out at the coffee shop on a regular basis.
Quinn is sincerely happy that she and Tina have reconnected as friends again after losing touch for several years. She missed having a sincere friend, and through battles of the bulge and nose jobs (yes, Quinn’s deviated septum was taken care of after high school), the two have picked up like they’d never stopped. Even if they grew up quite differently, with Quinn as the school’s cheerleading captain, the two always remained loyal. Except sometimes when it comes to guys. Even then though, girl code was usually valued. Quinn is also grateful to Tina for giving her a place to live when she was down and out.
Since living across the hall from each other, Sam and Quinn have struck up a friendship. They aren’t always into the same things, but she often appreciates his sarcasm and they’ve even secretly stolen some cheesecakes from neighbors that didn’t appreciate them.
After some time in New York and being in close quarters with new and old friends, Finn and Quinn rekindled a flame that he’d had burning for her since high school. It took a while to come clean about feelings, especially since Finn had a girlfriend at the time, and a newborn baby with his recently turned lesbian wife. But, with some liquid courage on a group trip to Vegas she did confess, and slowly but surely the timing became right and they began dating.
Quinn was happy with Finn and he treated her like gold, but with her career change she became busier– maybe even too much. On top of that, he grew insecure about her tight-knit relationship with her boss. Although Quinn didn’t have any romantic intentions and was still head over heels for Finn, his hovering and jealously just became too much. They decided to take a break, and since have kept things strictly platonic. Quinn still has deep feelings for Finn, but until he’s willing to trust her more, she is afraid to go beyond that again.

FINN HUDSON (based on Ross Geller) is a 29 year old PALEONTOLOGIST living in New York City. His relationship status is “it’s complicated,” and his endgame is FUINN. The role of Finn is not available for auditions.
☕ SO NO ONE TOLD YOU LIFE WAS GONNA BE THIS WAY…
Finn has adjusted to fatherhood reasonably well; sharing custody of his son, Ben with his ex-wife and her lesbian lover has proven to be somewhat challenging but Finn has taken it all in stride as best he can. While he’d love to spend even more time with Ben, he knows its important to maintain the peace and allow all three of Ben’s parents proper time.
Still working at the National Museum as a paleontologist, Finn is never at a loss when it comes to talking about one of his most favorite things in the world. Even if nobody wants to hear about it.
Finn is close with his adoptive sister, Tina, as well as his best friend from all the way back in college, Sam Evans. They were there for him when he split up with his wife, able to support him and keep him going when things were at their darkest.
When Quinn Fabray returned to all of their lives, Finn fought hard to suppress the crush he’d harbored on her for years. At first he was able to, but over time the two couldn’t hide their feelings for one another; not even a brief relationship with a fellow paleontologist couldn’t stop Finn and Quinn from eventually getting together and becoming a couple. Thanks to a trip to Las Vegas and some honesty (and alcohol), they became involved.
Things were awesome for Finn, for a while. He had a brand new son, the girl he’d always loved and good friends. When Quinn went after a new job Finn gave his full support, and was elated when she landed something far better than being a coffee shop waitress. But her new position gave her more responsibilities and began to take up more of her time. Old insecurities began to surface, particularly with the close relationship she shared with her boss… having seen his wife begin to pull away before, Finn couldn’t help but try to hold on to his relationship with Quinn.
Sadly, things had become strained too much and it was decided (mostly by Quinn) that they needed to take a step back. Things are back to being platonic with Quinn now, and while Finn still longs to be able to resume their relationship he knows until he can put a cap on his jealousies and prove that he trusts her completely, she’ll be unwilling to agree.
Most recently, Finn has become disenchanted with his apartment. It’s too far from his son, too far from work, and too far from his friends. If only there was some place better for him to live.

TAGGING: Tina Cohen-Chang, Sam Evans, Finn Hudson, Quinn Fabray.
TIME FRAME: Saturday, November 7th.
LOCATION: The Bellagio; Las Vegas, Nevada.
GENERAL NOTES: The four friends take a trip to Vegas and test their luck the first night at the casino.
Sam was sure he was still reeling from the flight and the time difference, but he was still having a blast. They'd only been in Vegas for a few hours, long enough to check into the Bellagio (with upgraded rooms courtesy of Tina's negotiating skills) and gear up for a night out on the town. He had to hand it to his friends; even with short notice the birthday weekend they'd planned for Quinn was going well. She'd been genuinely surprised and Sam was hoping she was enjoying their high-rolling adventure. They'd managed to dine at a great restaurant, (once again thanks to Tina's expertise) and were slowly moving into the party part of the night. They were seated in the town car Sam had rented for easy transportation and Sam turned to his friends and grinned. "Alright, guys. We've got VIP passes for the club, but do you wanna get into a little gambling first? I don't know about y'all but I'm feeling lucky."
Tina couldn't help but grin as she looked out of the window of their fancy town car (thanks to Sam's awesome connections). Ever the lover of travel and trying new things, Tina was incredibly excited to explore the strip. Their rooms were amazing (because, really, of course they were. Tina set them up, after all). "I'm not very good at gambling," Tina admitted, scrunching her nose. Tina hated not being good at something. "Someone needs to help me out, clearly. Do they still give free drinks to people that are gambling or did the internet lie to me?" Unsurprisingly, Tina did some extensive research to be sure that the group would be prepared. "We have time, anyway. I saw online that the club doesn't really get crazy busy for another hour or two."
Sam wasn't surprised at all that Tina did her research. It was a completely expected move and he laughed at her questions before shaking his head. "You're both beautiful ladies and it's Q's birthday, Tee. Safe to say y'all aren't paying for drinks the whole night. But yeah, it's true. If you're gambling, you drink for free. Which is exactly what we're doing. I figure we don't have to stay at one casino, maybe move around The Strip and see what the action's looking like. There's slots and table games, so you know, something for everyone. I hear Wynn is a great place. Should we start there?"
Tina blushed at the compliment, immediately turning to look out the window, hoping no one noticed. She ignored the little ping of flattery, attributing her reaction to being excited to be in Vegas more than being
Tina affected by Sam's words. "Cool, we'll keep gambling, then. The Wynn sounds nice. I'm down for whatever everyone else wants. I just would prefer a place with exceptional service. I have a list on my phone of the places with the highest ratings, I can get it out if you want?"
Finn hadn't taken too long to get adjusted to Vegas time, aside from a little fatigue he was very much in the moment and enjoying this trip. It was all to celebrate Quinn's birthday and to enjoy the weekend with his friends, and that's exactly what he was going to do. Julia was still in New York, visiting her family; Finn had briefly considered asking her to come along but it didn't seem right to. The others didn't know her that well, if at all, and Finn didn't want to take anything away from the birthday celebration. He also made sure his cell phone was on him at all times just in case he heard from Rachel about the baby, but things had been pretty calm there lately. Grinning at Sam's suggestion to go and gamble a little bit before heading to the club, he nodded in his direction. "I'm up for some gambling too, wherever you guys want to do it. And Sam's right by the way, no way either of you are going to have to pay for drinks tonight especially." He rolled his eyes slightly towards his sister. "I think you can leave your phone put away, Tee. Let's just do a little exploring, if we don't like the Wynn then we can keep searching?"
Everything had happened so fast with this spontaneous trip to Vegas; first Tina was telling Quinn to pack her bags, and then she found out Sam had been the one to cook up the whole idea. He more than anyone knew the struggles she’d been dealing with lately, so it meant a lot to her that it was in honor of her birthday. Quinn hadn’t anticipated Finn to come alone, especially without his girlfriend in tow; she was glad to see him, but all the same nervous that he might pick up on the fact that she had been trying to freeze him out. The blonde had done her best to not end up beside him in the limo, and yet there she was, sandwiched between him and the door-- something she wouldn’t complain about if he were single. The heat rose in her cheeks too when the guys complimented them; Quinn was in dire need of drinks, even if she barely knew a thing about gambling. “I’m in, but I’m practically clueless when it comes to gambling too, so someone may have to show me the ropes. The Wynn sounds good to me! Really, anywhere with drinks and hot guys is fine.” Spotting Tina blushing at Sam’s comment brought a smile to Q’s face. “Thanks again for this by the way, guys. I needed a break.”
Tina rolled her eyes back at her brother. "It never hurts to be prepared, Finn! God forbid something happens, I have everything ranked in my planner app." She nudged her brother jokingly, before grinning and reaching over to pat Quinn on the hand. "You deserve this, Quinn. This weekend is all about you. One hundred percent! I'm going to make sure of it." She grinned at her friend, excited for whatever was to come for the weekend ahead.
Finn just smiled after Quinn thanked them again for this weekend getaway. It was all Sam and Tina's doing of course, but they all knew she needed a little time away and a chance to have fun for her birthday. Finn hoped that a Vegas getaway would raise her spirits, since he'd been back from his work trip he could tell that Quinn wasn't completely herself; he'd chalked it up to her and Brody splitting up but according to Sam it was partly frustration over her job too. Watching Tina return the eye roll, her dogged determination to turn the trip into a well organized funtastic exercise was pretty much just what Finn had expected from his sister. "Prepared, no, but sometimes you just have to leave stuff up to chance too." As she nudged him Finn broke into a grin, their sibling relationship was always full of stuff like this, needling one another. Turning to Sam, "So what's your poison tonight? The slots or the tables?"
Quinn grinned at Tina’s promise of her having a great weekend. It honestly was what she needed more than anything - a break from the monotony of her job, and perhaps it was a step in getting her to move on from Finn. She’d lost her chance, and however hard it was, the blonde knew she had no choice but to suck it up and let it go. “You’re the most determined person I know, Tee. I have no doubt with you on board that it will be. And if we happen to snag a couple of guys along the way, I won’t complain.” Her comment was mostly aimed toward Sam, curious if he would bite the bait as she mentioned another man to Tina. It was something she ordinarily would have gauged Finn for as well, but he was happily taken, and she doubted it had any effect whatsoever. Quinn chuckled a little at the siblings spatting before glancing back Sam’s way. She was curious of his preferred gambling method as well. “Also, which isn’t as harsh on the purse for a newbie?”
Tina wrinkled her nose. "Chance? I don't like chance when it comes to things like this." She laughed a bit at her brothers comments. It's silly, but she always loves hanging out with her brother. "Don't you lose either way? I think I'm just going to stick with the slots because they have fun themes. I hear there if an Ellen one. I love Ellen." She smirked at Quinn's comment. "I definitely wouldn't mind finding a guy at the casino or club. I... Yeah. Definitely wouldn't mind it. "
Sam seconded Finn's suggestion of exploration. He didn't see the point of following guides or researching casinos. If you'd seen one, you'd seen them all and he was up for taking chances with it all. "You're gonna have fun, Q" he told her, laughing while Finn and Tina had their back and forth. "I think I'm gonna play the tables. Slots get real boring after a while and I don't feel like fighting old ladies for machines. I'm thinking roulette's gonna be my game. For newbies, I'd say go with slots. Avoid poker or blackjack 'cause that's high roller stuff and those old dudes take it seriously." He wasn't sure what to make of Quinn's words to Tina about hot guys. He supposed anyone but Richard was an improvement, but since their talk from before when Quinn implied something about Tina's feelings towards him, Sam had to admit he was still thinking about it. "Alright, so Finn if the girls are gonna be at the slots, where are you headed?" Just to be sure Tina wouldn't distract herself with her Vegas research (and annoy the rest of them), he plucked her phone from her grasp and placed it into his jacket pocket. "Just in case you try to look up reviews on the machines or something. You can get it back after a few drinks." His grin was wide when they finally reached their destination, the car stopping in front of the Wynn Casino and Sam opened the door and took in the sight of the huge curved building, lit up just like the rest of Vegas and he smiled. "Alright. Ready to go, guys?"
Tina playfully glared at Sam as he grabbed her phone. "Give me that, you jerk!" she teased, reaching for her phone from his pocket. "That's important. My whole life is on that phone, you're rude." She laughed as she got out of the car, grinning as she looked around. This was SO cool. "I love this already, I'm so ready to have fun with my favorite people." She fixed her dress, which was still classy, but definitely more exposed than Tina typically was (with the exception of Halloween, of course). "How much do you want to bet Quinn leaves with a guy and lots of money. It's like a birthday gift!"
Sam swatted her hand away with the same amount of playfulness, laughing as they slipped from the car. "Your whole life right now is here, lady. You don't need the phone." Sam patted the pocket of his blazer, making sure her phone was still safe in there before glancing over, laughing while Tina fixed her dress. "Are you planning to do some matchmaking or something? I'm banking on the money, for sure. Fingers crossed we'll all hit big tonight."
Tina laughed, tossing her hair over her shoulder. "My life is right here, true. But what if someone needs to contact me! If it's someone important, you have to give me my phone." She nodded, looking over at Quinn with a grin. "Hell yeah I am. I want Quinn to be happy with every single aspect of her life tonight! Maybe I'll find you someone nice too, if you're lucky." She winked teasingly as they started to walk into the casino.
Finn laughed. “You don’t want to take chances? Vegas was built on chances!” Able to tell when she was enjoying herself, Finn was happy to see Tina letting loose too, particularly when Sam snatched her phone away from her. As the conversation veered towards picking up guys for Quinn and Tina both, it made Finn a little quiet. For starters he didn’t really want to think about his sister picking up some strange guy here for who knows what, but it also made him slightly uncomfortable to think about Quinn doing the same. Maybe he was dating somebody now, but it didn’t mean that he wanted to think about her hooking up with just any guy here… it was selfish and he knew it, which is why he kept it to himself and asked Sam what he was opting to play once they got to the first casino. “To be honest, I was thinking blackjack. Maybe they’ve got a video blackjack machine or two, something to build up a little nest egg before I lose it at the tables. Roulette sounds fun too… and I’m not against trying out the slot machines a little.” When they got to the casino Sam was the first one out, and one by one the others exited the car. Before them was the casino, opulent (even a little gaudy) looking but also a hell of a lot of fun. He grinned when Tina declared them to be her favorite people, and as she and Sam started to walk up ahead of them, “I bet you didn’t expect to be celebrating your birthday quite like this, huh?” he said to Quinn as he leaned in slightly, nudging her shoulder. “A winfall would be the perfect start to everything, wouldn’t it?”
Quinn didn’t really have any intent to leave with some stranger, but then again, wasn’t Vegas meant for rebellion, and the opposite of typical behavior? She almost shot Sam a look at her comment about Tina finding a guy too, but it was too hard in the limo to do so without everyone else chiming in and inquiring on the silent gesture. Maybe it was because her own love life was failing, but she wanted to see her friends happy, and after conversations between the both of them it only made sense to her that they find that together. “Oh c’mon, Tee! After you’re two sheets to the wind, you aren’t going to want to talk to anyone on that phone tonight - this is Vegas! That means no Richard... or Julia. Right, Sam?” This time she sought out the other single blonde for agreement. Hazel eyes glittered as they landed on the building before them, and Quinn eagerly left the limo, her attitude much chipper than it had been in a while. Her own dress like Tina’s was a little more glamorous than usual, but still demure enough. “Yeah, definitely sticking with slots,” she chimed in after Sam’s spiel, and once Finn gave his play-byplay. “I don’t know a thing about blackjack or roulette, and the last thing I need is to come home with an empty bank account.” Trailing behind Sam and Tina in an effort to push them together a little, that’s when it dawned on the waitress that Finn was back at her side. She tried to play it cool, even if his breath tickling her ear as he leaned in to nudge her caused her heart to skip rapidly. “Yeah it really would. Although I have to admit... just being here is pretty great, and we haven’t even gone in yet. I’m really glad that... all of us could make it.” Even if it was difficult to deal with her emotions, she was glad Finn was there.
Sam wasn't really focused on finding anyone, despite Tina's teasing and the well-meaning hints Quinn was throwing his way. "I'm just banking on a good buzz and more money in my pocket than what I came in with, really." Walking through the entrance, Sam was hit with a lavish setup, the grand aesthetic of the lobby typical Vegas-style with lights and filled with people. The casino itself was on the offside and he followed the sounds of machines, stopping at the entrance and waiting for Finn and Quinn to catch up. "So...should we stick together? Maybe play the slots for a bit and then wander? I don't mind showing the girls the gambling ropes before hitting up the tables." He glanced down at Tina, who was still at his side. "What do you wanna do?"
Tina walked into the casino entrance with her friends. The lights were incredibly bright and distracting, but Tina loved it. She looked around, her smile growing by the second. "This is so cool... I definitely wouldn't mind some extra money in my pocket. I have my eye on this awesome knife set that my boss recently got. They're so nice, they cut so smooth, it's insane." At Sam's question, she shrugged. "I don't know, I guess we can stick together. Quinn and I might need your help, since we don't know much about gambling."
As they walked towards the casino Finn grinned as even Quinn got on Tina about her phone, though for a moment he wasn’t sure why she mentioned Julia in the same breath as Richard… but she was absolutely right. It wasn’t a night for outside influences, not even his own girlfriend. “I’m glad we could too, and we’re all determined to make it your best birthday ever.” They walked into the front lobby of the casino and right away, were hit with the lights and sounds and all of it. Sam was adamant about walking out with more cash than he came in with, then asked if they should all stick together for a bit. It made sense, and Tina happened to agree, mentioning how she’d been eying a knife set for work and extra cash could help get it. His poor sister, even when she tried to relax she was still thinking about work. “I think it makes sense to stick together first too, just to get used to it first, right?”
Quinn hoped she wasn’t coming on too strong by adding Julia into the mix with Richard; she hadn’t meant to put them both on the same level, so hopefully Finn didn’t think that. The casino was all aglow with bright neon lights, and she couldn’t help but squeal a little as they inched near the entrance. “Thanks, Finn; I’m sure it will be. It’s not every day I get to go to Vegas with my closest friends.” Quinn definitely wanted to stick close by to someone; she didn’t entirely trust herself not to lose all her money on the first go. “Maybe at least at first we can stick together? I don’t want to be broke before I even get a chance to enjoy myself. But if you all want to split off after a while, that could work? I just really have no idea what I’m doing,” she chuckled as they entered the building. The blonde couldn’t decide whether the outside of the strip or the inside of the casino were more brightly lit, but she was loving it. Chimes and cheers rang through the place, and suddenly her adrenaline was pumping. “Even if you guys want to start at the tables I’d be happy just to watch and try to learn. I say the experts choose.”
Tina nodded, agreeing with her friends. "Experts should choose." She paused, noticing a lit up slot machine. She grabbed Sam's arm, squeezing it in excitement as she looked at her brother. " Finn! Oh. My. God." She sped up, walking towards the machine. "An Iron Chef slot machine?! It's like they knew I'd be here. Take my picture! I'm going to play it!" She slid onto the seat, a huge grin on her face. Leave it to Tina to find a cooking themed slot machine within minutes of walking into the casino. "Where do I put the money? Wait. I'm confused."
Sam nodded once they were all in agreement about making the rounds together. He was about to suggest the tables when Tina's excitement over the Iron Chef had him grinning, and Sam let her tug him forward, knowing Finn and Quinn wouldn't be too far behind. "Okay, okay. Usually this is the point where you have quarters. You can change out your bills for 'em at the front, I think. But yeah...it's basically all chance. Put your quarter in, press some buttons, and let the machine decide your fate." He slipped his arm from her grasp to snag a few quarters from his pocket, passing some to Tina and a few to Quinn. "Alright. Try your luck."
Finn was getting a kick out of how excited Quinn was about her surroundings, between her and Tina the girls were completely enraptured by it all and Finn had to admit he was pretty excited by it too. “Well that’s true, that’s goal number one. To make this a trip we all remember.” They were in agreement to stick together, and soon after entering the casino Tina spotted an Iron Chef themed slot machine and made a beeline over. “That’s just eerie, Tee.” Laughing as they followed her over, Finn pulled out his phone and did as she requested, snapping a picture of Tina seated before the slot machine. As Sam explained how they worked and dug out a few quarters, Finn searched his own pockets and came up with a couple of his own, handing them over to the birthday girl as well. “It really is that easy, just pop them in and give it a shot.”
Tina played the slots for a few rounds. She sighed dramatically as she kept losing. "I have much better luck in the kitchen then I do with this game, let me tell you--" she stopped, and grinned. "Wait. I won five bucks!" She smiled over at her friends. "As if the universe would let a chef loose at Iron Chef slots. Does anyone else want a turn? You can keep the credits in there, who am I to stop my friends from making money?"
Sam didn't mind hovering around the machine while the ladies tested their luck. So far 'luck' was a stretch with Tina, who was steadily losing with each round but he was impressed by her determined attitude, unsurprised she was relentless in her pursuit of a win. Finally, she hit the five and Sam clapped when the machine spat out her winnings and he passed her a cup from the nearby stack to keep her money in. "Awesome job, Tee. Five bucks is five more than you walked in with and that's a good place to stop. I say let's give the birthday girl a chance to get her slots on."
Tina frowned. "Shit. Quinn, sorry, I didn't mean to steal your thunder." She got up so Quinn could play. "Lead the way, Quinn. Whatever you want to do, we'll be your cheerleaders." She took a step back, feeling a bit bad that her excitement overshadowed her friends birthday.
“Thanks boys,” Quinn grinned brightly at both Finn and Sam as they each offered her a few coins for the slots. She had no idea how her luck would go (history seemed to aim toward bad), but perhaps with the money they’d given her, she might have better fortune. Excitedly, the blonde watched as Tina played; she wasn’t doing so well at first, but when her bestie finally won, the birthday girl let out a little squeal. “Go Tee!” she cheered on, though it wasn’t long before Tina had given up her seat. Quinn knew how competitive her friend was, and just because it was her birthday, that didn’t mean she wanted the spotlight on herself. She wanted everyone to enjoy themselves. “Hey, shhh. Not at all! You didn’t, I promise. I wanted to watch, and now I know a little more about what to expect,” she promised, gently placing a hand on the woman’s shoulder reassuringly. “But fine... I can try a different machine.” Quinn truly had no idea what she was looking for, but she found some slots more brightly lit than the rest and plopped herself down before them. “C’monnnn, Quinnie needs rent,” she joked as she thrust a quarter into the machine. Unfortunately her first effort was a dud, but the second coin seemed to prove better, as the screen lit up with a ten dollar win. “Hey, I’ll take it! You know, I think Tee and I could get lost around here for a while if you guys would rather lose us to go for the high stake tables?” she offered.
Sam followed Quinn to the new slots, laughing at the even brighter lights and louder sounds on the new game, which proved to be lucky as Quinn was ten dollars richer for her efforts and Sam clapped loudly, ignoring the looks he received from the older people hunched over the surrounding machines. "Very nice, Q!" He figured the girls would be good on their own, and nodded at Quinn's suggestion. "You know what, that's cool. I think me and Finn should check out the roulette. We'll be at the tables. If y'all feel like it, just wander over and we'll get a drink or something." He turned to Finn and clapped him on the back. "Come on, man. Let's go get chips."
Tina shrugged. "Sounds good to me." She watched as the boys left, a small smile on her lips. She loved spending time with Sam and Finn, but sometimes a little Quinn and Tina time is exactly what she needs. "So, any particular slots you would like to play? I'm down for whatever, birthday girl. I just want to find myself a nice Malibu Bay Breeze and maybe even a hot guy." She paused. "I'm not too picky on the guy, though. I'll go for attractive."
Finn knew that the longer she played, the more determined Tina would be to come away a winner… that competitive streak was there more than ever. Sure enough before too long she rang up a five dollar win, and the proud brother just grinned as Sam congratulated her and handed her a cup for her winnings. Eager to make sure Quinn fared as well, and after following her over to another row of machines she found ones that seemed to be even louder and brighter. “You got this, c’mon.” While her first attempt fell flat, her second spin ended up netting her another decent little win, and Finn couldn’t contain his excitement for her. “Great job! That’s awesome, both of you are lucky tonight!” Nodding in agreement once Quinn suggested perhaps they split up for a little while, Sam patting him on the back. “Sounds like a good plan. Ladies, keep that hot streak alive.” He and Sam began to walk towards the cashier to buy some chips for the tables, “You know this means we’ve probably got to win at least a little tonight too or we aren’t going to hear the end of that from them all trip.” He grinned at Sam. “I really think she’s enjoying her birthday trip. And I haven’t seen Tee this happy in a while either.”
Quinn couldn't stop grinning as the guys cheered her on. Lately she had felt like she’d been in such a slump, but already things were picking up, and she now had an extra ten bucks. The blonde knew that streak probably wouldn’t last, but she nodded when Finn told them to keep it up. “We’ll try our best. Good luck, boys.” Once Sam and Finn were off to the tables, it was just Quinn and her best friend. It was nice to have some girl time together out of the apartment, and she chuckled at Tina’s plans for the night. “I am /all/ about the same. And no, I really don’t care which slots... I’m not picky, unless one stands out to me. You see one you want to try next? Or should we grab a drink first?” It would be easy for Tina to find an attractive guy, but she couldn’t help but nudge a little more in regards to Sam. “Oh yeah? You mean like a blonde with abs o steel and bad jokes?” Quinn teased, waggling her eyebrows playfully. “C’mon, let’s grab a drink. Maybe the bartender is a hunk.”
Sam gave the girls a parting salute before heading off with Finn to get the chips. The buy in was probably high for most of the table games and Sam figured he'd have to spend money to make money, ponying up for three hundred's worth of chips. He had to laugh at Finn's assessment because it was accurate, considering the company. "Oh yeah. That little streak at the slots probably has them feeling lucky but honestly, I think my chances are good. Might feel even better about that once the drinks start rolling in." It did seem like Quinn was already into the scene, delighted by the surprise aspect of it all and spending time with her friends. "Yeah...Q's really excited. It's good, seeing her out of that slump for a little. And Tina...well this trip gave her the chance to boss people around and show off her culinary connections so you know she's happy. Plus hey, we finally get to all be together, you know? That's gotta be great." Sam laughed at that while gathering up his stack of chips and leading the way towards the table games. "So...the age old question...craps or roulette?"
Tina turned to Quinn with a grin. "Seeeeee? This is why we're best friends," she said, nudging the blonde with a laugh. "I think drinks are definitely a good idea." She started in the direction of the closest bar, rolling her eyes playfully at Quinn's comment. "Shush, you. Stop trying to get us together, it's not going to happen." She was teasing, really, but she couldn't really admit to Quinn how she was sort of confused for her newly found feelings towards Sam. Nothing too crazy, it was not as if she was suddenly head over heels for the guy, but there had definitely been some wondering over what could be. Plus, she's seen his abs. She'd be crazy not to wonder. She shook herself out of her thoughts, looking back at Quinn. "I hate to disappoint, but nothing is going to happen between Sam and me."
“You know it! Always, right? I think I need something strong tonight; I’m having a blast but I have to admi... the Finn feelings are still there,” the blonde pouted as she followed Tina to the bar. That was exactly the order she gave to the tender-- ‘something strong, but fruity.’ Leaning against the counter as she awaited her drink, Quinn giggled at Tee’s attempts to sway her away from Sam. The blonde knew better, and though she pouted playfully at Tina’s comments, the waitress was fairly certain she was getting in her head a little. “That is disappointing,” she hummed as her beverage finally arrived, and Q stirred the thin straw among the ice. “You two would make /beautiful/ babies. And you know, Sam can still actually /do/ that. No offense to Richard,” she shrugged. “But I guess I’ll let it go... I do want credit though if it ever happens.”
Tina nodded, leaning over to playfully kiss Quinn's cheek. "Hell yeah, always. I'll take the same," she said, directed the last part to the bartender. She frowned at the mention of her brother. "Oh, Quinnie... I'm sorry. I really hope you find a cute guy to talk to or like... do things to. Just so you can get your mind off of him." The bartender came back with their drinks, and Tina took a sip. At Quinn's comments, she rolled her eyes, laughing. "It's not going to happen. Especially not babies, I want someone that actually wants a family and a serious relationship." She paused, before continuing, "though, this weekend, I'll make an exception. I'm totally okay with a one night thing while in Vegas. Just... not with Sam." At the mention of Richard, Tina wrinkled her nose. "Yeah. It's not offensive to him or anything."
Finn knew the girls too well, they’d be lording their wins over them all weekend unless they could come up with similar luck tonight. Following Sam’s lead and buying a couple hundred dollars in chips for the tables, he laughed at Sam’s response about the drinks. “Oh that’s a given, how do you go to Vegas and not enjoy a little taste of the nightlife?” Not that he had plans to get totally wasted, but letting loose just a little bit sounded fun to him. Sam agreed that both Quinn and Tina seemed in better spirits than lately, and nodded in agreement at the sentiment about being together. “It really is awesome that we could be, it’s been way too long.” Following behind as Sam headed for the games, Finn thought for a moment. “Why don’t we give roulette a try first? It seems like the easier way to start off.” The guys headed for the nearest roulette wheel, and took a spot at the table. Finn set down a couple of 10 dollar chips to begin with. “Twenty dollars on black.” Turning to his buddy, he raised an eyebrow. “What do you think, Sam? Are you in?”
Quinn laughed and threw her arms around her best friend as she called out her order to the bartender. Slowly she slipped away at Tina’s sympathy, and managed a small smile. “It’s alright. Yeah, maybe I will. Maybe that’s all I need really - to get laid.” Not even she believed the words as they tumbled out, but was grateful to take the topic off of her. Lingering at the bar while they now waited for Tina’s drink, the blonde tried to prod at the Sam subject a little more, chuckling at her friend’s response. “Maybe not now, but someday he will. Sam can’t be a bachelor his whole life; it might just take him a little longer to realize what he wants. That’s not a bad thing... because then when he is ready, he’ll really mean it. Whomever it’s with,” she added quickly; the last thing she wanted to do was piss Tina off. “Yeah? Well I think that’s kind of Vegas protocol. And well, fine, but at least you know where he’s been.” Sipping at her drink, it was just a matter of moments before Quinn could feel the alcohol seeping into her, making her tipsy already. She giggled at her friend’s reaction to the comment about Richard. “Hey, I’m just being real here.” Grabbing Tina’s drink from the tender and handing it over to the brunette, Quinn gave her a grin. “Alright, I picked the last slot-- your turn, pretty lady.”
Tina shrugged. "Maybe, yeah. Getting laid is probably something that will make you feel good. Hot guys usually help with that." As Quinn pushed the Sam issue, Tina sighed. It wasn't going to happen, she was sure of it. "Someday he will, definitely. I agree. But that will not be with me, because I'm already there. I already know what I want and I want those things now. Even if I were interested in Sam, which I am not, I wouldn't wait for him. Who knows when he'll want to settle down? Maybe he'll be like... Clooney." She grabbed her drink and smiled thankfully at the bartender. "So slots! Let's try..." she paused, looking around, before finding two brightly lit, and unoccupied, machines across the casino floor. "Those!" She took Quinn's hand and led her to the machines. "Here's hoping we get lucky!"
Sam didn't mind roulette at all, easy as it was to rely on chance than having to put up with the strategy of say, poker. "Roulette it is, man. Lead the way." Once at the table, Sam placed his bet, following Finn's lead and dropping twenty on black. He was normally a play it safe kind of guy when it came to gambling, but taking a risk once in a while wouldn't hurt. The chance paid off for both men when black was called, earning them some extra chips and Sam grinned broadly at Finn. "Alright, alright. We could probably stay here for a bit, I think..." his words trailed off when a cocktail waitress caught his attention and he offered the woman a crooked smile. "Yup. We're definitely staying here." The call to place bets was announced by the croupier and feeling lucky, Sam went for another outside bet on black. "If I win again, drinks are on me," he told Finn, knowing good and well their drinks were free regardless, but it still felt cool to say, especially when black turned up another winning hand.
Luckily Sam was in a mood to go along with Finn’s suggestion, and as they headed to the roulette table he decided to give it a try quickly. After his buddy followed his lead and made the same bet the wheel landed on black, and Finn returned Sam’s happy expression. “You think so?” Noticing how Sam’s gaze had gone past him and landed on a nearby waitress, one who happened to look pretty damn cute, Finn shook his head and snapped his fingers. “Earth to Sam?” Sam was off and running with the woman, and chuckling at his insistence they stay now, “Works for me. And remember, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” Finn held back this time, watching Sam place another bet on black again. His boast that drinks would be on him with another win made Finn laugh, sure enough another victory earned Sam even more chips. He was well on his way to a good evening, in more ways than one it seemed. “Looks like you’ve got the luck tonight, Sam.” This was turning out to be a great trip for all of them, and the night was only just beginning. “My turn. Let’s go red this time.”
Sam grinned broadly while raking in his winnings, and turned to Finn. "You know, you might be right. I think it's the best I've felt in a long time. Mostly 'cause I don't have to think about going to work or dealing with reports. This is great. So yeah. I'm definitely feeling lucky. Who knows, I might even snag a number or two. Or...do people give out their numbers in Vegas? I mean what's the point? You're in the moment, no need to wait, right?" He shook his head with a laugh and glanced over to Finn. "Red it is. Let's do this."
Quinn laughed at Tina’s joke about Sam being like Clooney. “Well, I doubt he’ll wait /that/ long, I just... don’t want you to settle for Richard. I know you want that now, but he’s been clear that if you had kids... it would only be for you. You shouldn’t settle for that, Tee. You deserve more.” Shrugging softly, the blonde decided to leave that thought in Tina’s mind and end the discussion there; the last thing she wanted was to drag them down, or begin an argument. Letting out a squeal as her hand was grabbed and she pulled toward another set of machines, hazel eyes lit up just like the rest of the casino. “I sure hope so-- we both deserve some good luck, you know? Why don’t you go first? After all, you seemed to be the lucky charm the last time.”
Tina nodded, simply saying "I know." She wasn't going to bother Quinn with her relationship drama, or the fact that she and Richard weren't really talking recently. Not on her birthday weekend, at least. Maybe once they get back to the city. Maybe. She put her money in first, frowning. "I lost. We can play at the same time you know," she teased, sipping her drink.
Nodding, Finn enjoyed seeing Sam so happy right now. The trip was as much for the rest of them as it was for Quinn now, a chance for them all to take a little breather from their normal lives. “That’s the way it should be, a nice little vacation for us all. And I’ve got no doubt by the end of the night you’re going to have at least a couple of numbers, dude.” He shrugged, unable to answer his question. “Good question. I guess just go for it?” Sharing in the laugh, Finn set his chips down and waited for the roulette wheel to spin again. When it stopped spinning, the ball landed on red, and once again Finn was rewarded with a few more chips. “Definitely liking the vibe tonight.”
Sam figured like the rest of the trip, he'd just wing it with the ladies. That wasn't really his focus anyway. Spending some quality time with his friends was top priority. He clapped along with the rest of the table when the winners were announced, including Finn and Sam signaled to the hovering cocktail waitress to bring them beers, smiling and offering the woman a tip when she returned with the tall glasses. "Good vibe there, I gotta agree. Let's hope the girls are getting lucky too. With the winnings, I mean. Or something else. I'm down for Q meeting some handsome stranger who sweeps her off her feet with chips, or something. Be a damn good birthday present, right?"
Quinn immediately felt like she put a damper on Tina’s mood, so when the brunette lost at her next turn, the blonde drew her in for a tight hug. “I know! I just like watching too. I feel like you’re my good luck charm,” she added with a gentle squeeze, before letting her friend go to slip money into the machine next to her. “C’monnnn... c’mon-- please?!” Quinn chanted, though she too lost a little. “Nooo, we can’t lose our luck now! We have to beat the boys,” she whined before popping another coin into the slot.
Tina smirked, nodding. "Hell yeah we need to beat the boys." She played a few more rounds at the slots, sighing. "Shoot. I keep losing." She paused, turning to Quinn "And I never lose. This stinks."
Finn picked up the glass filled to the brim with beer and took a hearty sip, already it was such a good night and it had barely begun. With Sam making eyes at the waitress Finn just grinned behind his glass, but coughed just a little when Sam replied hoping that the girls were getting lucky. His brain knew what he meant, but he tried to hide how off-putting it was to think about in the other sense, when one of them was his sister and the other one was his- was Quinn. “Um, yeah. Let’s hope… it would be, right.”
Sam shot his best friend a knowing look when Finn coughed into his beer. There was a small chuckle when once again, his risky bet of black and odd paid off, earning him more chips that he tucked into the holder. While he figured Tina would still be wrapped up in Richard (much to his annoyance), Quinn was free and clear to do whatever she wished, especially since Finn was dating someone else. "I mean, I'm not saying she's gonna get drunk and marry some guy tonight, but hey, a little less conversation and a little more action never hurt anyone. And here I am quoting corny Elvis songs. What has this place done to me?" Sam sipped his beer and glanced over again at Finn. "You're not bothered by Quinn talking to guys out here, right?"
"Awww, Tee - it's okay to lose every once in a while... keeps you humble,” she playfully replied, giving her friend a soft smile. “Maybe there’s luck for the birthday girl. If so, lunch tomorrow is on me, okay?” It was Quinn’s turn again, and she gave the machine a few rounds before finally breaking twenty bucks. “Well hey, look at that! Maybe this is a turning point after all. Give it another shot, Tee.”
Tina laughed, nodding at Quinn. "I'll never turn down free food, and there is this awesome bistro in Caesar's that is apparently amazing. We should definitely check it out, it has rave reviews." She played a few rounds, frowning as she kept losing. "Darn it... I'm out 35 bucks! I might as well just watch you," she said, turning in her chair to watch her friend. "You're killing it though!"
Finn hoped he’d covered it well enough that he was uncomfortable with the idea of Quinn finding a hookup here in Las Vegas, but apparently not well enough when Sam called him on it. “Oh no, of course not. Even if that kind of thing does happen here.” He did smile at Sam’s inadvertent Elvis quotation. “Me? No… I don’t have any right to be anyways. She’s free to talk to anybody she wants to. She deserves to find someone who’ll treat her like a queen. Her and Tina both do.” Well now he was just totally overcompensating.
Sam figured Finn wouldn't cop to anything specific, nodding along at his friend's heavy-handed words while he sipped his beer. "Well you're right about that, her deserving good things. Tina, too. Though she's just winging it with the senior citizen." Sam rolled his eyes at that while his fingers grazed over his growing stacks of chips. "Anyway, with that. Are we staying with roulette or do you wanna explore more? Night's still young, man. We've got some time before we head to the club and we still need to show up the girls, who are probably losing. I'm feeling real competitive tonight. Let's say a few more rounds of roulette and then craps?"
“Really? You know I trust your taste more than anyone, so consider it done. The boys can buy their own dinner,” Quinn added with a playful wink before popping in another quarter. “Well, luck hasn’t been on my side lately, so I blame my birthday. We still have a few days here... I’m sure you’ll get lucky while we’re in Vegas too,” she added positively, the buzzer of the machine going off interrupting her. “Oh my gosh-- I got a hundred this time!” she squealed happily as the machine began pouring out her winnings. “Best birthday ever, for sure.”
Tina laughed. "Damn straight they can. It's a girls night, they're lucky to be invited," she teased. Seeing her friend's big lucky win, Tina squealed with her in excitement. "Yay! The birthday girl deserves to leave rich. We should go show the guys how much you won!"
Finn breathed a little sigh of relief as Sam didn’t press his words, just agreeing that the girls both deserved good things. He smirked slightly when Sam mentioned “the senior citizen”, it didn’t seem like he was any more of a fan of Richard for Tina then Finn himself was. “I’m good with whatever you want to do, a little more roulette and some craps sounds great. We do have plenty of time still, I’m good to follow your lead.” Taking another sip of beer, he pondered. “I wonder how the girls are making out now.”
