970 North Broadway, Los Angeles
After months of scouring the greater Los Angeles area, we’ve officially relocated the Unlisted headquarters to 970 North Broadway, Suite 214 Los Angeles, CA. Our studio is located in the historic Mandarin Plaza, hosting an eclectic mix of art spaces, design studios and Chinese restaurants. We’re especially excited about being located in historic Chinatown because of it’s deep roots with the Los Angeles punk scene in the early 80’s. A couple blocks away from our space is where Madame Wong’s and the Hong Kong Cafe were previously located. It was here where bands like the Weirdos, the Germs, Black Flag, X, and more would play.
Although Chinatown is one of the most unlikely places for a punk scene to take root, the fact that it occurred here is quintessentially Los Angeles. The centralized location of Chinatown in comparison to the fractured and spread out urbanism of Los Angeles' neighborhoods gave punk and new wave fans a place to hang out and experience new music. Today Chinatown is a mix of small businesses and art spaces that include bookstore/boutique Ooga Booga (Wendy Yao of the punk band Emily’s Sassy Lime) and everyone’s favorite radio station KCHUNG.
