you can start learning anything you always wanted at any point in your life. & how nice it is to remember that
i’m realizing that i have so much time. i have time to grow my hair long. i have time to cut it all off and then to grow it back again. i have time to discover new hobbies and give up on things that no longer serve me. i have time to grow and change and travel and change my opinions and live differently than how i am now. i have so much time. take a deep breath and slow down
maybe the purpose of life is to fill it with as many positive things as you can. regardless of how bad life gets, don’t let it steal your personality, your hobbies, your style. after coming home from a bad day at work maybe you need to sit down and read a nice book. after studying non-stop for so long, maybe you should finish that crochet project you’ve been putting off because you’re so busy. maybe we should prioritize the things we love, the things that make us happy, and not just the things we’re forced to do to survive. in this society, a little peace from the outside world is important. don’t give up on the things that make you happy. don’t forget about yourself.
this is so important
yeah i will not partake in the societal habit of fearing getting older. each new year you get is a blessing so jot that down
before I can be the girl of your dreams I gotta become the girl of my own dreams first
September will be kind. September will be magical. September will bring the missing energy. September will be working towards our goals and self. September will be a month full of growth.
i don’t like how endings in real life come on so suddenly without making sense, without much warning. one minute you’re in the middle of something and the next it’s all a very long time ago and you’re a different person and none of it is ever coming back
Balance. I’m learning. I’m trying.
embracing and welcoming new changes
if i was an old timey girl id go crazy for ribbons from the market
I am, as the novelists say, in need of seaside air
There'll be a moment when you realise you're 27 when yesterday you were just 17; and you wouldn't be able to tell how a decade passed away and your life got divided into before and afters. The fury of youth will subdue and nothing will really change but everything will feel different when you look at old photographs and blurry videos taken on cheap mobile phones. Scents will remind you of childhood and certain friends you don't talk to anymore, hangouts will become reunions and mom's burnt pie will become the best food you ever had. And I know on some days you won't be able to show anything of those 10 years but I hope you remember to breathe, and let go of the knot in your chest. I hope you go out in the sun and live a little, because tomorrow is 37.
Edit- I added the visualizer for this piece on my YT, check it out here
-Ritika Jyala, excerpt from The Flesh I Burned
thinking about how life really is just about the little rituals we set up for ourselves. a long shower to wash off the day's hardships. peeling your orange in the morning before you rush to catch the bus. watering your plants, noting the changes of the soil, of the leaves. those moments that we give ourselves, the bubbles in our life where we allow ourselves to just breathe and exist. thinking about how those moments are laced with intention. i am taking care of myself, of my environment, of my body. i am nourishing my heart my soul my mind. because i deserve to love and i deserve to be loved.
