do you need to study but have no motivation to do so? or are you just procrastinating because that’s way more fun than studying? (why do i sound like an ad??)
okay so i’ve had a couple of productive days so far and i’d like to share some tips on how i’ve managed to get things done (at home).
(disclaimer: i’m a mere seventeen-year-old and i basically know nothing. these are what that have worked for me and they may not work for you. you know your own self so alter them to fit your needs)
you’re probably procrastinating because you have so much to get done and you’re overwhelmed so you just want to avoid it at all costs. so here’s what you do:
get a pen and a piece of paper and write down all the major tasks that you need to get done.
now that it’s all on paper, break them down into smaller simpler tasks. (note: you dont have to get it all done in one day!!)
make a schedule and write down the small tasks you want to do for the day. (if you’re feeling ambitious, make one for the whole week. i dont do this bc i’m not good at sticking to schedules so a day works well for me)
okay so how exactly do you make a schedule so that you will actually stick to it?
put in your breaks and your “me-time” first and work your schedule around them. for me, i’ll allocate 45 mins for one study session followed by 15 mins break. i try not to go longer than an hour because that’s just not effective for me. i aim to have at least 6 study sessions spread(?) across the entire day (when i’m at home). on a very productive day, i’ll have 9 sessions so thats 4 in the morning before lunch, 3 after lunch and 2 after dinner. i’ll still have plenty of time to rest, eat, do things i enjoy, etc.
dont miss your meals and stay hydrated always. always have water near you when you’re studying!
remember to take breaks and dont overwork yourself. you’ll know when you’re overworked.
if possible, dont burn the midnight oil. you need sufficient rest. get at least 5 hours of sleep pls!!!
on the days where you dont feel like doing anything, push yourself to study for 30 mins. once 30 mins is up, you’ll either a) be on the roll and want to continue or b) want to stop because that was too much. even if the latter happens, it’s okay. you’ve got something done at least! small progress is still progress!
have a designated place (that is conducive) for you to study. and ensure that that place is clean before you start studying so you’ll study with a clear mind.
this is very obvious but put away all distractions while studying!!!
study with a friend if that helps you keep motivated!
that’s it for now. i hope this benefits!
(i repeat: i know nothing and these are just what i’ve done that has worked for me heh)
