It’s been a while.

I’ve been so busy with clinic that I’ve lost track of my tumblr. I’m currently studying for NBDE pt II which I’m taking next week. Two weeks after that, I have the CTP exam for WREB. It’s been wild seeing the first year students come for orientation because I’ll be in my fourth and final year. It feels like just yesterday that I was a first year. It’s crazy see how far I’ve come without even realizing it.

Couldn’t go back to sleep this morning so I decided to get a head start on my day with studying for the Pathology final. We’re being tested on this semester’s material alongside last semester’s material which encompasses the entire textbook. Overwhelmed is an understatement at the moment haha but it’s gucci, we’ll probably be fine

Studying a little earlier for a pathology exam while watching some Overwatch twitch streams for background noise. Since I’m trying to save more money, I’m studying at home instead of Starbucks or another cafe. The topics for this exam starts with hematologic disorders and then turns into odontogenic tumors which literally all look the same radiographically. I’m sitting here just going “But y tho”.

The new semester (trimester??) is starting tomorrow, so I’m spending my morning organizing all the things I have to do in the order it needs to be done. This way, I literally just have to follow the list I made without having to put more brain power into figuring out what to do next. I feel like I’m always behind, so I’d say I’m pretty neurotic when it comes to school. That’s something I’m working on at the moment- think letting go and just not letting things with patients/classmates/general frustrations become too personal. I’m putting my resolutions down below because I feel like if I write it down and put it out there, it keeps me more accountable of my actions and intentions.

My new year’s resolutions-

1. Bring my lunch to school at least 3x a week (I have a bad habit of eating out all the time)

2. Drinking at least one bottle of water a day (I also forget to drink water when I’m really busy)

3. Spending less money on material things like Sephora and more on experiences with friends

10/8/17 Studying for perio surgery quiz. This semester is more clinic based but we still have a few didactic courses. I'm currently also studying for pathology which is really rough.

8/27/17 It's been a while since I've posted. Thus is from the semester when I was studying for nitrous class. But boy how time flies by! I'm officially half way done with dental school and transitioning full time into clinic. The last semester/trimester (?), we were in clinic everyday but for a half day, but now we'll be in there morning and afternoon. Getting everything I need per semester is already stressing me out.

4/27/17 Currently studying for the NBDE pt 1! I take it on May 1, so I have a few days left. Trying to cram all of micro/path studying right now since I kind of neglected it. It's definitely my weakest section out of the 4.

2/19/17 Studying for advanced radiology the other day. The exam ended up being pretty brutal but we'll find out our scores next week. Fingers crossed!

Shoutout to when your girl pulled it together for setting denture teeth last semester. It’s not the best but I got an 82 which was good enough for me when I was struggling to get the occlusion right. I’m currently studying pharmacology and clinical anatomy (that’s what is on my laptop currently).

Still working on Path. We had a perio final exam today, and I’m so drained. Tomorrow is a major class IV restoration, and wednesday is path/dentures practical/dentures written final. I switched up my pens/highlighters this time just to try them out. I’m using the Foray pen in 0.7mm and the sharpie smear guard highlighter. The pen is pretty alright, but the highlighter smeared everything :(

Studying pathology for the exam on Wednesday. The final is over 28 lectures with a total of 900+ slides, so i’m internally screaming. lol Finals have started, and I’m a busy bee as of late. I had 2 finals and a quiz this past week, and next week, I have 5 finals next week. Wish me luck because I’m going to need it! haha

Just studying pathology for our midterm tomorrow morning. This midterm covers 17 lectures and each lecture is about 85-100 slides, so everyone has been busy studying all weekend. I’ve got my lunch, tea, and water so I don’t have to leave my area for a long, long time. Wish me luck!

I have an Oral Cancer exam in 4 hours. I’m really stressed out from my patients yesterday. I wasn’t in a good place yesterday since multiple things went wrong with multiple patients. I should have caught something with one of them, another one yelled at me over the phone for something out of my control, and the last patient was scheduled to me within 15-20 minutes of his appointment. I was scrambling to keep it together yesterday, but I just couldn’t take it and had a good cry in the restroom. But the show goes on.. I hate letting people see me cry at school

I don’t have a geriatric rotation today, so my morning is free for studying and getting breakfast. Just a peep at my snack + tea/coffee situation before I start studying for oral cancer. I have a practical today on prepping a composite MOD on #12 & restoring #5 MOD with.... you guessed it, composite.

So I’m on vacation, and I thought I’d start off my day with some coffee and oatmeal. I normally like to wean myself off coffee when I’m on breaks so I don’t build this massive tolerance to caffeine. Does that really help? Probably not but it makes me feel healthy af or at least a little less guilty about my caffeine consumption.
