Climbing Toward Truckee

This is a westbound Union Pacific container train assaulting the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada Range. The train is seen powering up the hill alongside the Truckee River, a few miles east of the town of Truckee, California, just off Interstate 80. This is along the original route of the Central Pacific Railroad, part of the first transcontinental railroad.
