Soul mate au in which you only see black and white until you meet your soul mate making your world explode in color.
Plot: (Y/n) is a young princess who has come of age and has been meeting with suitors for months until the Asgardian royal family pays a visit and she meets her soul mate.
Warning: language and a bad mom daughter relationship
The sun’s white light began to seep through the castle's thin curtains. Birds outside were chirping, and people began making their communes to begin their days. The castle staff busied themselves in preparing for the arrival of The Asgardian royal family. It was quite a surprise when Odin had agreed to give the mortal royal family’s a chance to present their daughters to the prince and future king so the (Y/l/n) was not going to let the opportunity slip by. Many suitors had already presented themselves to the young lady but Thor was the last possibility and her last hope for a soul mate.
There were many reasons behind the princess’s disdain for her past suitors but the main one was that none of them was her soul mate. She grew up hearing fairytales of people meeting their soul mates for the first time and watching the world explode in color. She was warned each time of being told these stories that as royalty it may not happen for her, but you can't blame a girl for having hope. However, she had quickly run out of suitors and time so he had very little hope left. This was her last chance at maybe finding her true love and if prince Thor wasn't him then she'd be forced to pick from one of the princes she'd met.
The woman behind the stories was (Y/n)'s oldest lady in waiting Annabeth who was married to her soulmate Victor who worked in the castle's kitchen. Annabeth was in her forties and helped raise (Y/n) into the young woman she is. When she was caring for (Y/n) as a small child she would often tell the story of how she had met Victor and it always comforted the small child. After the first time, she heard their sweet story little (Y/n) ran round the castle asking everyone who lived there if they had met their soul mate too.
Annabeth made her way into (Y/n)'s chambers and began drawing the curtains. The young princess groaned at the light coming into the room. "Good morning lady (Y/n) today's the big day!" Annabeth cheered as she finished the last curtain. The princess groaned sitting up in bed. "So it would seem Annabeth." she sighed forcing herself out of her bed.
Annabeth lead (Y/n) to her vanity chair as two more ladies in waiting entered the room to assist in getting the princess ready. "Good morning Maria, good morning Cassie." (Y/N said smiling warmly at the two. "Morning princess (Y/n)." they both responded and the three began preparing the princess's hair. "You'll love the dress that was sent over from a seamstress in France." Annabeth promised, laying the gown across the bed. "It looks lovely it's the corset I'm worried about." (Y/n) pointed out while slightly wincing at the tugging on her hair.
"Will you tell me the story again while you do my makeup?" (Y/n) asked hopefully. Annabeth sighed shaking her head slightly "(Y/n) I hate to get your hopes up only for you to be let down again." "I won't get my hopes I promise, I just like the story. Pretty please?" The princess begged. "Fine but you better sit still." Annabeth scolded.
"I was seventeen and walking around the market because my mother had sent me to pick up some bread from the baker. While I was browsing some of the florist's flowers a man came by and ripped my bag right off my shoulder, he ran off so fast I didn't even get a good look at him. Thankfully Victor had seen what had happened from afar and took off after him. He tackled this man and got the bag back and when he found me to return my bag and we saw each other for the first time. As soon as I saw him everything was suddenly bright and colorful."
The whole time Annabeth was telling the story (Y/n) sat still and listened with bright eyes and a dreamy smile. "And tell me about his eyes again." The princess asked. Annabeth smiled rolling her eyes. "They're green with specks of really subtle blue, they remind me of the grass when it's covered in morning dew." She explained. "Oh, I just love that color!" (Y/n) cheered with a sigh.
"You can't possibly know that you just know it from how I describe it." Annabeth laughed. "Not just you but books too! Just like the one I'm reading now, it describes a magical forest with trees of all shades of green." the princess protested. "Lady (Y/n) you just have the prettiest (Y/h/c) hair its so soft and the length is just gorgeous." Cassie beamed. "And the most beautiful (Y/e/c) eyes too, remember how fascinated Prince Daniel was with them?" Asked Maria.
"Yeah that's not the only thing Prince Daniel was fascinated with." the princess scoffed. "Alright let's get you dressed you're expected at breakfast." Annabeth said making the princess stand up. She pulled off her pajamas and slipped into the beautiful expensive dress. Her ladies in waiting began securing the corset each tug making the princess wince. "Maybe if you marry prince Thor they'll have some sort of magical corset that hurts less." cassie suggested trying to cheer up (Y/n).
Once lady (Y/n) was properly dressed she made her way downstairs to the dining hall where her parents were already sitting at the table. "Good morning honey." her father said as she sat at the table. “Good morning father, good morning mother.” (Y/n) said as someone placed her breakfast in front of her. “Thank you Richard.” She smiled nodding towards the servant making him smile before heading back to the kitchen. “You do realize he’s the help right?” The queen asked disappointed in her daughter.
“He’s still a human mother.” The princess snapped back. “Let’s not argue today is a big day isn’t it?” The king asked in a happy tone. “Yes and I need you to be on your best behavior these aren’t like the other princes that have been here, you’re very lucky Odin and Thor are giving you a chance.” The queen instructed. “I know mom they’re gods and Thor is next in line to be king.” The princess sighed pushing her food around on the plate with her fork. “You should act more excited you could be queen of Asgard.” Her mother said.
“But what if my soul mate is still out there mom? And I’ll never know because I’m unhappily married to some prince?” (Y/n) asked. “Enough with this soul mate nonsense (y/f/n) (y/l/n)! You are to marry a prince in line to be king! You are a princess you don’t get the luxury of finding a soul mate!” The queen shouted.
“Excuse me your majesty they have arrived.” A servant announced from the doorway. “Have them meet us in the throne room please.” The King asked standing up from the table. “Smile like a young princess should.” The queen warned before exiting the room with the king. (Y/n) wiped a couple tears away from her eyes careful to not disturb her makeup. With a deep breath she made her way into the throne room standing next to her mother’s throne.
Odin entered the room followed by his two sons. (Y/n) had yet to look in their direction her eyes remaining glued to the floor. “King (Y/l/n), Lady (Y/l/n). It is a pleasure to see you again.” Odin spoke in his loud voice. “As it is you king Odin of Asgard, and these must be your boys the princes’. I apologize on behalf of my heir my oldest son he and his wife had a prior engagement with a duke.”Your father said making Odin step away from his two sons. “Yes this is my son Thor my heir and my son Loki.” Odin introduced as they both bowed.
(Y/n) looked up towards the two gods and was shocked as she saw Thor’s golden blonde hair and Loki’s dark black hair. The throne room was suddenly filled with colors the likes of which (Y/n) could never have imagined. “Oh my god.” She gasped looking around the room. “Well yes, but our names will do just fine lady (Y/n).” Thor joked earning a laugh from Odin and King (Y/l/n).
“I can see color.” The princess practically whispered just loud enough for everyone to still hear. Everyone in the room seemed just as shocked but no one not even (Y/n) noticed that Loki shared the same kind of shock as her. When he looked up from his bow he was met with not only the beauty of the princess but a wide variety of colors. To Loki that seemed ridiculous, how could the god of mischief fall for a simple Midgardian let alone one who was a potential suitor for his brother. Loki wanted to be mad but as he admired the princess he just couldn’t find it in him.
“See you were so unhappy about meeting with Thor today and it turns out he is your soul mate, maybe you should listen to your mother sometimes.” The queen boasted. Loki expected his brother would speak up let everyone in on the fact that he couldn’t see color but of course Loki’s faith in his family was misplaced yet again. “I’m quite surprised myself that this beautiful Midgardian princess is my soul mate.” Thor said smiling towards (Y/n). Loki was obviously hurt by his brother’s actions and the thought that not only was he stealing his crown but now his soul mate. (Y/n)’s eyes focused on Loki more than they did the her soul mate but she couldn’t help it the man intrigued her.
“Go on brother describe in detail her beauty for those of us who can’t see color.” Loki said his voice cold as ice. The question earned a glare from Odin that Loki was all too familiar with. “Ah well where do I, begin I’m at a loss for words the only one that comes to mind is breathtaking,” Thor said smoothly. “I wasn’t aware you had two sons Odin.” King (Y/l/n) said curiously. “Ah yes, Loki has gotten himself into some trouble lately and been spending time in the dungeon he’s only here now because my wife requested it.” Odin explained.
“Maybe the princess should show the two princes’ around the gardens while we discuss the arrangement.” The king suggested. “That would be lovely lady (Y/n) Thor smiled. “Alright Loki mind yourself, I want you to keep a close eye on him Thor.” Odin commanded following the king and the queen into the dining hall. Princess (Y/n) leads Loki and Thor outside the castle. The three slowly began to explore the gardens while Thor boasted of stories back home.
(Y/n)’s eyes wandered over every little thing possible in awe of all the beautiful colors that had been surrounding her for so long. Although the young princess’s eyes didn’t just admire the garden they kept returning to Loki. She admired the beautiful tones of blues in his eyes, his handsome smile, his handsome king black hair. His green clothing did in fact confirm her theory that green was in fact her favorite color. Sure most would say Thor was an attractive man but Loki seemed different.
“Oh, just up this way is one of my favorite reading spots!” (Y/n) exclaimed leading them over a corner in the courtyard. There was a very large oak tree with lots of sturdy branches and beautiful flowers blooming around it. “So you like to read lady (y/n)?” Loki asked intrigued. “Oh yes I spend any free time I have reading, and please call me (Y/n) lady makes me feel old.” She said with a smile. Her confession made Loki even more disappointed in his brother’s lie.
“When I was little and I didn’t have to participate in some princess lesson I’d come out here and sit on the lowest branch and read Shakespeare till the sun went down.” She continued with a warm smile. “Please don’t tell us it was Romeo and Juliet.” Loki asked quirking an eyebrow. “Oh no I’ve read that one it’s just not my favorite, I prefer other love stories.” (Y/n) responded with a small blush. Loki nodded seemingly satisfied with her answer. “What about you Thor, do you read?” The princess asked excitedly.
Her question made Loki smile turning towards his brother, sure Thor had read here and there but not for enjoyment and not in a very long time. (Y/n) stared up at him with hopeful eyes assuming her soul mate must share her love of reading. “Oh well I don’t read very much but I’d love it if you read to me sometime my lady.” He replied with a bold smile. Loki didn’t miss the way (y/n)’s face slightly fell with disappointment. It was subtle from years of being taught but it was still there.
“Oh well, no matter then.” She said with a small sigh continuing to lead the men through the gardens. As the trio was walking they continued to discuss things of interest causing both (Y/n) and Loki to realize that they had much more in common than she and Thor ever would. When they made their way back to the palace things had been settled and it was time for the princess to leave for Asgard. Her things were packed and ready thanks to her ladies in waiting. She said a teary goodbye to Annabeth and a respectful one to her parents before leaving for her new home.
»»————————- ♡ ————————-««
It had three months since (Y/n) had moved to Asgard and began preparing for her and Thor’s wedding. The date was planned for 5 months from now the beginning of Asgardian spring. Her family would be invited of course as well as Annabeth. It was set to be a day in the history books, the first step towards Thor becoming King of Asgard. However, since she had come to her new home she had hardly spent any time with her fiancé.
Most of Thor’s time had been off practicing for wars, preparing to be king, and other things that (Y/n) wasn’t quite sure she wanted to know. She had spent nearly all of her time with Frigga, and Loki who had quickly become her best friend since the move. They had been helping her with wedding planning on days Thor was too busy or couldn’t be bothered. Though neither of them would admit it they both had other unspoken feelings outside of their close friendship.
Loki and (Y/n) were walking around the library with Loki carrying any that she grabbed to read later. “I loved that last book you recommended Loki! The main character being both the monster and the hero gave me chills.” She spoke adding another book to her small pile in the god's arms. “I’m glad to hear that (Y/n) it’s one of my favorites in this collection.” Loki responded turning her away from a book she had been reaching for.
“You don’t want to read that one it’s all about war and soldiers seeing who can spill the most blood.” He explained causing her to nod In agreement. Once the princess was satisfied with enough books to occupy herself with for the next couple of weeks the two returned to Loki’s room to read. They often found themselves returning to Loki’s room for some time alone causing much suspicion to the guards but luckily no one had mentioned anything to Odin or Thor. Everything just felt so easy for the two of them even though it was quite hard for Loki on some days. All though he cherished every second with her it broke him a little knowing they were planning her wedding with his brother and not him.
“Don’t forget you have that dress fitting with my mother tonight.” Loki reminded after a while of silent reading. “Oh right.” (Y/n) sighed closeting her book. She was sat on a window seat in his room that overlooked the garden, which besides the rainbow bridge had to be her favorite spot. “Would you mind coming with? Thor can’t see me in the dress and I think your presence would make me less anxious about it.” She asked looking up at him with her beautiful eyes that seemed to hypnotize him every time.
“Of course I can.” He said with a brilliant smile which was quickly returned. “I don’t know how I’d do any of this without you, you’ve been such a big help in planning this wedding. I understand he’s going to be king but I only ever see him when we eat together and back in our chambers.” (Y/n) sighed. To be honest she wasn’t all that disappointed by it. If these last few months had done anything, it was confuse her.
Thor was supposed to be her soul mate so why did they have nothing in common? And why did she not feel anything at all for him? The wedding that was quickly approaching only made her head spin more and practically make her sick. It was these quiet times with Loki that truly calmed her. They made her feel right at home.
“I can understand princess I know my brother’s lust for battle can be quite foolish but my father keeps him quite busy with his duties.” Loki agreed with disdain evident in his voice. In her time here (Y/n) had grown curious as to why Loki wasn’t a contender for the throne. When he had explained he expected her to run or no longer spend time with him but instead she hugged him tight. The memory only made Loki’s love for her stronger and more painful. She was his soul mate that was destined to be taken away from him much like everything else.
Soon a guard was sent to fetch (Y/n) for the dress fitting and Loki tagged along in place of his brother. They joined Frigga who was sat in the large room with several ladies to attend to the dress fitting and a large divider for her to change behind. “Ah there you are (y/n) we’ve got about 250 dresses for you to try on sent from all over the universe both our realms and yours.” Frigga said with a kind smile. Loki took his seat next to her while (y/n) made her way over behind the screen. A couple of the ladies in waiting began helping her change into a dress.
The first rack of wedding gowns were all extravagant but none caught the eye of the princess. “Oh dear, there’s one on the end of that rack that Thor picked out, he said it would really bring out your eyes.” Frigga called out as (Y/n) slipped out of the most recent dress. This made (y/n)’s ears perk up, Thor had actually taken an interest in the wedding and in her? That’s when her eyes caught a glimpse of the dress Frigga meant. It was an extra poofy ball gown in burnt orange color.
“Orange? How the hell would orange bring out (y/e/c)?” She whispered to herself touching the fabric of the dress. Her heart sunk upon seeing it. How was it possible she had gotten a soul mate that was not only so different from her but that didn’t know her at all? With a defeated sigh she struggled into the dress with some assistance.
When (Y/n) stepped out into view with a frown evident on her lips Frigga let out an audible gasp while Loki let out an amused snort. “This is the dress he liked?” (Y/n) whispered. “I’m sorry I’m afraid he’s never been good with fashion.” Frigga tried excusing her son while she observed the fabric. “Who thinks orange brings out (y/e/c)?” Loki almost chuckled earning a light glare from his mom. “I’m changing, this is not the dress.” (Y/n) said with a small giggle herself.
While she changed into the next dress she pondered on Loki’s words. How had he known the dress was orange, had she been talking that loud? As she thought she noticed a white gown tucked in the middle of the Asgardian rack of dresses. It was another ball gown style but this time in white with gold accents on it and ruffled sleeves. It looked like the perfect dress for an Asgardian queen.
After three of the maidens got her into the dress the princess couldn’t help but admire herself slightly, she truly felt beautiful. When she stepped out into view Loki slowly rose to his feet his eyes taking in her appearance. Frigga stood to join him already smiling brightly. “Wow.” Was all the words Loki could manage to say. “I think this is it.” (Y/n) replied doing a small spin in the dress.
“I agree it’s perfect.” Frigga sighed happily. “Oh! I have the perfect thing for it stay here!” Loki called before taking off out of the room. (Y/n) couldn’t help but look at her own reflection in shock that she was staring at her own reflection. “I have a hand maid who’s especially good with braids she’ll know exactly what to do with your hair.” Frigga smiled leaving to find the woman she spoke of.
As (y/n) looked at the dress she couldn’t help but feel that familiar pang in her chest. This wedding was feeling more and more wrong by the day. Suddenly Loki reappeared next to her own reflection holding something behind his back. “Now I was planning on this being a wedding gift but I couldn’t find anything to get my oaf of a brother so nows as good a time as any.” He smiled placing the necklace around the princess’s neck. Loki’s fingers linger on the feeling of her skin for every possible second as he secured it in place.
When the princess’s eyes landed on the small delicate eyes she gasped raising a hand to cover her mouth. “Loki it’s just like the one from the book I told you about.” She said shocked turning to face the god of mischief. “Yes I listened to you talk about that passage so many times I knew exactly what to tell the jeweler.” He smiled admiring the princess’s beauty. “The only difference is this charm is green and not red because I know how it’s your favorite.” Loki continued. The princess stared at him briefly she had never mentioned her favorite color in fear of giving the wrong impression.
“How’d you know it’s my favorite?” She asked curiously. “You wear a lot of jewelry with hints of it and you always talk about loving the grass.” He explained thinking he had her fooled. Before the princess could ask another question Frigga returned with her hand maiden and a collection of tools. (Y/n) sat still while they spent two hours finding the right hairstyle. Loki had left promising to return once he was done with his errand.
“My son is quite smitten with you as you seem to be with him as well.” Frigga said with a smile. “Oh yes my queen I’m very excited to marry Thor.” The princess lied faking a smile. Frigga simply nodded with a knowing smile. “It’s a rare thing for royalty to meet their soul mates, I knew I was lucky with Odin but I’ve always wished my boys would find theirs too.” Frigga told the young princess while placing a motherly hand on her shoulder. By the time they found the perfect hairstyle to match the dress it was time to rush off to dinner.
“It’s okay mother you go down to dinner I’ll escort lady (Y/n) down when she’s ready.” Loki promised earning a nod from his mother as she and her ladies exited the room. (Y/n) made quick work of changing back into her day dress being very careful with the gown. Still Loki’s description of color had her curious. “Loki why didn’t you tell me you’d met your soul mate?” She asked suddenly to both of their surprise. Loki’s eyes shifted as he tried to form a reasonable lie.
“What do you mean my lady?” He questioned. “You knew my favorite color without me telling you and about the gold accents on the dress. “Simple I wear a lot of green from what I’m told and I recognized the gold because it’s all over the castle.” He retorted. “You can’t fool me god of mischief.” She continued coming out to sit next to Loki. Loki knew he wasn’t getting out of here without some hit of honesty.
“Alright princess, I haven’t told anyone because unfortunately I can’t be with her.”
“Why not? What could possibly be keep two soul mates apart, especially one to a god.”
“Simple, Odin would forbid it. She would be banished, I would return to the dungeons and be a cast away from my family yet again.”
“Oh Loki I’m so sorry I can’t even imagine.”
“It’s been hard darling for sure.”
“Tell me about her. I mean if you wish.”
“Of course anything for you your grace. She’s beautiful but not just physically like most the women here. She’s witty and clever and loves spending days just reading the hours away. However her physical beauty is indescribable other than the word ethereal. Growing up here I’ve never quite felt whole but when I met her it was like my broken pieces met up perfectly with hers.”
By the end of Loki’s speech the princess was wiping away tears from her eyes. She found herself wrapping her arms around the prince before she could think any better of it. “Loki I’m so sorry growing up not being with my soul mate was my worst nightmare.” She confided in him. Loki was immediately filled with guilt knowing if he let her go through with this marriage he was aiding in that nightmare. “Don’t cry I’m afraid this frost giant isn’t worth the tears.” He sighed wiping a stray tear from her soft cheek.
The princess’s head immediately snapped up looking at him confused. “Loki you are worth every tear, you’re worth triple your weight in gold.” She promised. Loki was so taken back by her words it took everything not to just kiss her. Instead he rested his forehead against her own holding her palm in his own. After a small comfortable silence they both decided it was best to make their way down to dinner.
“So (Y/n) dear mother tells me you found a dress?” Thor asked in between mouthfuls of meat. “Yes my prince I found the perfect one.” She answered proudly looking towards Frigga who was smiling. “Was it the one I picked out? Father and I were walking out to the stables when we saw them bringing in the gowns, that one just caught my eye. I knew the color would be perfect with your eyes.” He said proudly mostly speaking in the direction of his father.
“Oh no it isn’t I’m sorry your highness but I don’t really think orange is the kind of wedding dress I wanted.” The princess excused. Odin’s eyes snapped up to Thor suddenly angry. “An orange wedding dress boy?” He asked. “Oh I apologize I’m much better with war than fashion.” He said trying to brush it off but it was clear that Odin was mad at Thor for slipping up. “The dress is lovely though Thor she looks absolutely breathtaking like you’re always saying.” Loki promised sending a reassuring smile in the princess’s way.
“I’m glad you’ve been helping her with this wedding stuff so much brother, I’m afraid if I was involved more we’d look quite foolish.” Thor laughed in his booming voice. “It’s no problem.” Loki said returning his attention to his food. He didn’t want to accidentally say just how much he was jealous of his brother yet again. This should be his own wedding with (y/n) he was planning but instead his brother had stolen her. This was just another straw breaking the camels back.
The rest of dinner remained in silence everyone to scared to speak. The thought remained in the princess’s mind that something here wasn’t quite right. “Thor dear would you join me for a stroll through the garden after dinner?” (Y/n) asked determined to get answers. “Of course darling.” He responded smiling his eyes flicking from his fiancé to his father. The princess smiled and Loki couldn’t help but look between the two cautiously.
After dinner Loki was first to excuse himself followed by Thor and (Y/n) who exited to the court yard. The beginning of the walk was mostly silence until the two stopped just in the middle of the garden. “So you really thought that dress would bring out my eyes?” The princess asked. “Yes unfortunately I think I was mistaken for the dress’s fashion quality.” The prince lied. “And what color are my eyes my prince?” She asked cautiously.
This was it a test to see if her theory was right that this man was in fact not her soul mate. She wasn’t sure her heart was ready to hear his answer but she stood looking at him waiting for a response. “Oh silly question dear they’re (other eye color) obviously.” He said taking a guess. Her heart fell at his words her smile fading. “They’re (y/e/c).” The princess whispered her eyes tearing up.
She backed up from the blonde god in disbelief. “You’re not my soul mate are you?” She asked practically shouting. Thor sighed shaking his head. “But the only one close enough to you that day was Loki, is Loki my soul mate?” (Y/n) pushed further as the tears began to escape. “I’m sorry for lying your highness but Odin thought it would best for both kingdoms and realms.” He tried to explain.
“This whole time it’s been a lie all of it. You knew he was my soul mate but instead you lied!” The princess yelled. She put her hands in her hair backing up against a nearby tree. The tears were falling much harder now. The broken way Loki spoke about his soul mate it all made sense to her now.
“I promise this marriage will be beneficial for us boy (y/n).” Thor said reaching out for her hands which she quickly ripped away from him. “I need you to leave I need some space right now.” She whispered. He nodded beginning to walk away. “You’ll see this is for the best in due time I promise.” He called out as he disappeared. As soon as he was out of view (Y/n) let her back slide down the tree as she collapsed with sobs.
Loki who had been watching the exchange from his window was quickly down in the garden. He hesitated before approaching the sobbing girl. Why would she want his company he had been just as dishonest he thought to himself. He turned to leave and give her some time but as he did he felt a body crash into his back wrapping their arms around him. “Loki I’m so sorry.” The princess sobbed into the leather on his outfit.
Loki turned around pulling her into a proper hug. “It is me who should be apologizing darling I was dishonest with you.” He said with a sad smile. Her head snapped up so her eyes could meet his icy blue ones. “You weren’t given a choice this whole time you had to help your soul mate plan her wedding with your brother!” She exclaimed angrily but not towards him. Before she could stop herself she leaned up and pressed a soft kiss to his slightly chapped lips.
Loki’s hands came up to hold her face delicately as he deepened the kiss. The princess’s hands rested on her soul mates shoulders as she had to refrain from smiling into the kiss. When she pictured kissing her soul mate this is what she pictured not the quick little pecks that Thor and her shared. When it was time for the two to pull away for air their foreheads rested against each other again. “I hope you’re not too disappointed.” Loki suddenly whispered.
“Disappointed, you’re everything I’ve ever wanted.” She promised quickly connecting their lips again. Unfortunately for them both they had company. “How touching.” Odin’s voice suddenly boomed in a cold tone that caused them to pull apart. “Odin I’m sorry about the misunderstanding in all this but Thor has been lying to us all he’s not my soul mate Loki is!” The princess tried to explain. “Foolish girl of course Thor isn’t your soul mate, but he will be your husband.” Odin commanded.
“Father you can’t make her marry a man she doesn’t wish to be wed to!” Loki argued defiantly. “Enough from you boy! You’ve betrayed this family for the last time, take him to the dungeon I’ll deal with him later!” Odin yelled towards two guards that made quick work of grabbing Loki’s arms dragging him away. Loki didn’t struggle or even make a noise dragged. “No please don’t hurt him!” The princess cried trying to chase after them only for her wrist to be caught by Odin.
His hands on the princess awoken that rage in Loki that only Odin could. “Don’t you dare lay a finger on her!” He yelled his skin becoming an icy blue. The guards forced him away and out of sight of the princess and Odin. “He hasn’t done anything!” The princess yelled up at the god as the tears fell from her face. “On the contrary he’s committed treason in the form of seducing Thor’s fiancé and he will pay for his crimes against the crown.” Odin continued.
“I won’t go through with this wedding!” The princess rebelled attempting to pull her arm from his grasp and only failing. He pulled her roughly towards him glaring down at her. “Oh you will unless you wish to see your soul mate publicly executed and you spend the rest of your days behind bars.” He threatened. The princess stopped struggling fearing for their lives. “Take her to her chambers and make sure she stays there till the wedding he commanded towards the guards.
(Y/n) with a heavy heart was dragged away to her room and thrown inside the door being slammed behind her. She sat with her back against the door and silently cried. She felt hopeless and lost knowing she was about to be directed into a marriage knowing her soul mate was within arms reach. Noiseless sobs wracked her body as the tears fell down her face. Her hand came up to hold the necklace looking for any sign of comfort.
Down in the dungeons Loki was having a much louder reaction. He was yelling as loud as his lungs would allow throwing everything that was left in his cell against the wall. They had caged and tortured him until he had broken he was not about to let them do the same to his (Y/n). After he threw the table the barrier causing it to break into pieces Odin made his way down and to his son’s cell.
“What did you do to her? If you hurt a hair on her head I swear I’ll-” “Shut it boy!” Odin suddenly interrupted his voice shaking the room. “She is fine off to sleep before her big day tomorrow or did you forget she’s marrying your brother the future king?” Odin asked with venom lacing his voice. “Loki watched his father for a moment completely unsure on what he was planning.
“You know between your yells and your loose tongue kissing what doesn’t belong to you I think we need to do something with that mouth of yours.”Odin said suddenly snapping his fingers to some guards who entered the dungeon followed by Thor. “Brother surely you can’t want to marry a woman you know isn’t your soul mate!” Loki said attempting to plead with Thor. “It’s for the good of the kingdom.” Thor responded not meeting his brother’s gaze. One of the guards entered Loki’s cell first quickly subduing him onto his knees on the floor. The other guard entering assisting in hiking the god of mischief down.
“What’s the meaning of this?” Loki questioned trying to hide the fear in his voice. Odin handed Thor a small kit of sorts as the two entered the cell. Neither of them even bothered to look in the raven haired man’s direction. Loki could practically feel himself shaking. He had never seen Odin like this.
“Son sometimes being a king those closest to you find it in them to betray you. This serpent has committed treason kissing your bride and the future queen. As punishment you will sew his lips shut.” Odin instructed Thor. Thor’s eyes were glued to the sewing kit in his large palm. He nearly felt sick but he had no choice just like any other king.
Loki’s eyes snapped up to his fathers desperate for some understanding. “You can’t do this it’s morbid and cruel, I am your son!” He yelled angry tears filling his eyes. Odin’s hand quickly met with Loki’s cheek. “Your king is punishing you for treason boy I suggest you shut your mouth. Besides consider it punishment for all the bloody lies.” Odin said with a dark laugh.
Thor had prepped the need with the wire and was getting closer to Loki. “Please brother don’t do this please, I truly love her.” Loki pleaded with his brother. “I’m sorry I don’t have a choice.” Thor whispered before grabbing Loki’s face. Loki tried to thrash and move but was quickly help in place. Thor began poking the needle into Loki’s skin making him call out in pain.
By the time the next morning had arrived the princess hadn’t gotten any sleep spending all night crying against the door and worrying for Loki. A few hand maids made their way in out for the next couple hours preparing the bride for her big day which had quickly been moved to today by Odin’s order. The bride to be couldn’t force a smile and was using all of her energy to not cry. Eventually Frigga made her way in unaccompanied which was a first. She looked as if she’d been crying but had a brave stubborn smile on her face.
“I brought you a couple of things dear.” She announced quietly as she sat a small bag down on the vanity in front of (Y/n). The first thing she pulled out of the bag was a gold necklace adorned with two key charms and one seemingly real key between them. “For your something old.” Frigga said handing her the necklace. The next item was one of Loki’s daggers. “For your something borrowed.” she explained placing the dagger in her palm.
As Frigga got up to leave she turned towards the princess one more time. “And I’m sure you know where to go to find your something blue.” She said with a wink exiting the room. (Y/n) looked to the small clock in the room. The wedding was supposed to begin in any moment. Maybe there was still a chance for her to get out of this after all. Not even minutes later the door opened.
“It’s time lady (y/n).” The maiden spoke pity lacing her voice. (Y/n) simply nodded faking a smile. Two guards escorted the princess down the hallway. “Not quite the escort down the isle I’d hoped for.” She grumbled earning no response from either man. They lead her straight to the entrance to the garden.
She forced out a shaky breath as the doors were opened revealing the small wedding ceremony. Thor stood with Odin as his best man at the opposite side of the courtyard. Frigga however was missing from the yard. (Y/n) didn’t have to wonder long before a semi breathless Frigga was at her side. “Im here to walk you down the isle.” She smiled connecting her arm to the princess’s.
A tune began to play so (y/n) forced her legs to move closer towards her worst nightmare. Everyone was at their feet admiring the beautiful bride. It didn’t take the two long to get to Thor and Odin. Frigga hugged the bride before standing next to her husband. “Glad to see you’ve perked up (y/n).” Odin said with a condescending tone. The ceremony began moving rather quickly being as it was only a formality.
The longer it went on the more (y/n)’s heart began to break longing for her soul mate to be the one standing across from her. “If anyone sees any reason for these two to not be wed speak now.” The officiating man spoke. Odin immediately sent him a glare as that part wasn’t supposed to be included. The room was so silent it was chilling. “No one objects let’s move on.” Odin began only to be interrupted by the door slamming open.
There to (y/n)’s amazement stood Loki proud and defiant. Although despite the look of determination on his features (y/n) knew something was off, he was using an illusion while real Loki was probably still in the dungeon. She quickly realized that that’s what Frigga had been up to before the ceremony. “I have a few actually Odin.” Loki spat venom fueling his words. “Guards someone cease him!” Odin yelled.
Chaos broke out as Loki’s illusion led them off in a chase. (Y/n) took this as her opportunity to take off into the castle. She could hear Thor trying to argue with his father about not wanting this wedding behind her. A couple guards took notice of her wedding dress figure and began chasing after her. She ran through the hall knocking over anything that might slow down the men behind her.
She knew that more powerful allies would be on their way to catch her so she burst through the dungeon doors barricading them behind her. When she turned towards the cell she could see Loki standing his torn up cell with his head down. “Loki my love are you alright?” She called quickly unlocking the cage. When she got it opened she hurried towards him in attempt of a hug only for Loki’s hands to come up to shield himself. “What’s wrong my prince?” She asked worried.
When she was met with no response she gently cupped his face making him flinch at the contact. She carefully tilted his head into the light gasping at the sight in front of her. Loki’s lips had been sloppily sewn shut the wounds still bleeding. “What have they done to you my sweet king.” She whispered tearing up. Upon hearing her sentiments he couldn’t help his own tears from falling as his hand was placed over her own on his face.
She quickly pulled the dagger from her garter belt holding it in her shaky hand. “This might hurt love but I’ll fix it for real when we get somewhere safe.” She promised. He nodded squeezing her hand reassuringly. She carefully used the tip of the blade to slice the wire between his lips allowing him movement of his mouth. He winced in pain but felt relief at being able to move his mouth.
“Did Odin hurt you? I swear if he put his hands on you darling I-” Loki began swearing before (Y/n) interrupted him but very cautiously and briefly pressing her lips to just the pink of his lips. “They’ve been torturing you down here and you’re worried about me.” She giggled shaking her head. Loki smiled at her not bothering to cover the light blush that graced his cheeks. That smile was quickly replaced by a worried frown as a thought came to mind.
“You realize that choosing to be with me will ruin your life. Choosing me means you give up your crown, your freedom, being able to live without being on the run. It’s not too late you can say you apprehended me and marry Thor and become the queen your meant to be. He can give you the life you deserve. One of luxury and wanting for nothing.” Loki explained with a guilty voice.
“Loki stop don’t be ridiculous I’d choose a happy life with my soul mate, a life with you over that unhappy marriage any day. You are exactly what I deserve and you deserve me!” (Y/n) promised holding him tightly. Loki smiled pulling her into his arms holding her tightly. “I love you darling.” He whispered. “I love you too my king now let’s find a way out of here.” She quickly responded grabbing his hand.
