As I remember (excuse me, if i'll be incorrect), but Shierke assumed that Moonlight Child is just a strange "messenger". And also Gedfin from Elfheim said Guts and his "team" about "oracle of the King of the Elves" (and Shierke made sure she was right and he connected with Elfheim). So that's why I don't think Griffith is a Moonlight Boy. Because he also has a very strong Angel's aura, he probably can,t hide (and Guts' and Casca's sacrifice marks hadn't hurt and bleeding)
Ooh that’s a really good point about the brands, I hadn’t thought of that. I mean I guess that can be explained through vague ~magic, but it’s definitely evidence against werebaby.
As for that oracle stuff, it’s true that Schierke thinks MB is an Elfhelm deal, and I really hope she’s right. We know Skull Knight is also connected to this oracle business, and for a while I was assuming Schierke was wrong and he was the Elf King’s oracle/messenger, but now I wonder if it’s him and Dannan in cahoots and the MB is still an astral projection pseudo messenger thing that they’re sending around for their own reasons.
Like this suggests that Skull Knight sent an oracle/messenger/whatever:
Skull Knight is the one who told Guts Casca could get her sanity back in Elfhelm, and this is a strong suggestion SK is using Guts.
And then later Schierke refines her MB theory:
And yeah she’s still thinking this as of recent chapters:
So why would Danann appear in the form of a kid? Possibly to help ensure Guts and co survive the journey to Elfhelm - especially if MB and glowy astral kid who helps save Guts from the armour and guides him out of the sea god are one and the same. Also potentially to emotionally manipulate Guts with that happy family shit to ensure he doesn’t quit halfway through and go chase Griff instead. Hell, if Casca’s despair is necessary to this plan of theirs, possibly also to add a bit more in the reveal that MB was just a trick all along.
Anyway this all plays into my theory that Danann and Skull Knight are using Guts and Casca to get that behelit to open in Elfhelm probably to entrap the Godhand, so I’ve still got my fingers crossed.
I mean, it’s still possible that Schierke’s just flat out wrong and all her theorizing is a red herring before the reveal that MB is a werebaby. But I mean, when you’ve got a choice between thoroughly foreshadowed manipulation and betrayal and surprise werebaby, I’m gonna hope for the former.
