We had a debate about whether or not Disney is racist in my English class, and here's what some ignorant white people had to say:

"I don't think it matters that there's mostly white princesses, because we're all equal to each other! We're all the same, so why is it a big deal?"

"I think minorities are too sensitive and try to find racism in everything."

"I don't understand why people think it's racist to have white princesses, because when there was a black princess, I didn't get angry!"

"The Siamese cats in Lady & The Tramp aren't racist! They used the accent and the slanted eyes to show that they're Asian cats, because that's how Asians are."

I couldn't believe the bullshit I was hearing.

No.  The way we treat the most marginalized, those who suffer the most...is a reflection of the kind of society we are.  #BlackLivesMatter all day everyday, and once we ensure that black lives are treated equally to white lives, then we will have a society where the color of your skin is irrelevant.

Know your local history

They didn't.  The US came to them.  In 1848.

I get a lot of submissions from people telling me this site is racist while simultaneously suggesting: "I was going to create a 'Stupid Shit Black People Say' tumblr but everything they say is stupid." ...You see, those kinds of sentiments are obviously racist.  There are bigots and proud racists out there who actively discriminate. This site is not a repository for their hate speech.  

On the contrary, this site is dedicated to the well-meaning, good people who are racist, oftentimes, unknowingly.  This New York Times article speaks to that.  Hopefully, those who are having trouble, will now be able to detect the nuance in the differentiation.
