When you think about it, it really did not matter that Suguru walked away with his life at the end of Hidden Inventory 4. Geto Suguru as we knew him ceased to exist the moment he became the recipient of Toji’s mercy and his outlook on the futileness of Jujutsu sorcerers’ efforts against and for “monkeys like [him]."

Yes, Toji spares him, but Suguru dies a different death in the tombs. The dialogue that precedes and succeeds their battle does nothing but pull the rug out from under Suguru’s feet. Suguru, who up until that point had dedicated his life to looking out for non-sorcerers, is called a riffraff by a non-sorcerer and someone who sorcerers deem the lowest of the low.
