Regrann from @cassandrafoxdance - I missed International Dance Day. So here is a belated International Happy Dance Day. 😂😄😎 I am a bit under the weather today so instead of practice I opened up an old SD card and I spent a little time looking at practice videos from 2016. This is from August 2016. I remember dancing this month quite clearly, notably because it is just after my dear Grandma Zoe had passed. Moving and finding my joy (and what was her joy) in dance played such a fundamental part in helping myself grieve. She was not a pouter, she was a doer. If she was here she would have told me to get up and dance. I did my best to ride my emotions out. I cried when I needed to cry. I would move to draw myself out of the sadness when it started to feel too heavy. I rememered how much she valued her time here and I felt like I was honouring her to do the same. One of my favourite things about dance is that is portrays and feeds off of our humanity; Our joy, Our pain, Our loss, Our lust, Our happiness, Our struggle, Our love. To really get into dance you have to get to know and get ready to sit with all emotion. To dance WITH it, To dance THROUGH it. To face the good and the bad with the same strength, softness and grace. Sometimes I move through the chaos, sometimes I am the chaos. Am I right? This is for all the people who are "concerned" about my weight. I am what I am and I have what I have. I need to live with it, not others. When I was younger I was only told how bad my BMI is and that I need to loose weight to be good. Today I am really overweight, not doing good at all and working out more than before. I wished I had those times where I was just happy about being myself and happy about my body when I was younger. You are still young, so don't fall into the BMI trap like I did in the past. 😘 Tell me your BMI stories! #styleandcurve
