Character info:
Lore:
Styx is a kid that lives in and around Park Row. They are a metahuman that was abandoned by their parents for some reason or other. Even they aren’t sure.
They work at a local bookstore, and live anywhere they can find that is relatively secure. They may or may not be a pickpocket.
At nighttime, they shift into either their harpy form or an owl form, flying around the city and otherwise getting up to hijinks.
Abilities:
Shapeshifting - they have three forms: their human form, their “harpy” or “mothman” form, and their Stygian owl form. (Scroll to see)
Umbrakinesis - they can warp shadows to help them conceal themself within them.
Passive abilities - enhanced strength (not a lot, just slightly), enhanced senses (especially hearing), slight healing factor
Non-metahuman related abilities - sleight of hand, good at acting and bluffing, knows the streets and alleys of the city very well (like the back of their hand)
RP text and tag meanings:
White - Styx (human form) [styx speaks - Styx is in their human form]
Purple - Styx/“Mothman” (harpy form) [mothman(?) speaks - Styx is in harpy form]
Appearance(s):
Human form - sixteen year old nonbinary, androgynous kid. They have short hair, dyed red with black roots. Heroforge by me below:
Harpy form - blue skinned humanoid creature. Four wings, one pair bigger than the other. Long, strong claws. it has two mismatched eyes: one with dark gray-blue sclera, black iris with white, gray and dark red speckles, and a dark red pupil; the other a dark red sclera with lighter red and black streaks throughout and a large, bright red pupil. Heroforge by me below:
I haven’t posted on here since sometime mid 2025, anyways, this is my main again, because having a roleplay account as my main started to get a little annoying.
I am not necessarily abandoning my rp accounts and jabber blog, I will come back when/if I get over that burnout or return to the hyperfixations that led to those characters.
Voss, regardless of what name they go by or what gender or age they are, exist across almost all dimensions across reality. They can have so many differences between them that make them unique but there are some story beats or canon events or whatever you like to call them that persist among their variations. The first consistency is that death is never the end of their story. In one way or another, they will persist. The second consistency, which somehow manages to be more bizarre, is the fact that they will always find some way to interact with other universes beyond their own. So perhaps that is why when a rift between their two worlds opened and switched the places of two people neither of them had ever met, they got switched too.
Voss, or Hench as his brothers call him, wakes up in an unfamiliar place. He stretches out, blinking in confusion when instead of finding himself in his warm bed he finds a large and soft dog bed with lots of pillows. He sits up with a scowl and freezes when he notices two teenagers sleeping soundly in a big bed. He quickly pats his legs, sighing in relief when he finds both his guns still strapped in place. As quietly as he can he gets up and heads out of the bedroom, looking around the apartment warily.
Voss, or Firefox as his brothers call him, wakes up in an unfamiliar place. The first thing he notices is the unfamiliar smell. It smells like ashes, alcohol, and cat litter hiding under the smell of woody cologne. He opens his eyes, looking around and immediately letting out a startled whine as he realizes he's laying in bed next to a dark haired stranger. He falls out of the bed, staring and breathing heavily before darting out of the bedroom, nearly tripping over a cat as he stumbles into the living room and looks around the apartment, hands immediately going to fidget with his bracelet.
// This starter is a little bit different. My friends @ravannanest & @booitsloki have a Marvel AU ( @earth6945 ) and DC AU (Earth 7159) that they've been working on for a long time, and was actually the original reason for making both Hench 🐧 & Firefox 🌋. Right now they're writing a fun thing where Sue Storm & Nora Allen (transfem Barry Allen) switched places due to some lab accidents at the same time. So just for fun, because The Vossi love multiverse shenanigans, I decided to swap these two for a little.
// I might do a follow up thats an open rp, but this first one is just for the people that live with them. Firefox is waking up in Hench's apartment and Hench is waking up in Firefox's apartment. They still look like themselves so it's pretty obvious what has happened.
Just one normal (never have them define ‘normal’) day. That’s all they ask for. But it never seems to work out. They sit up from their temporary bed, peering over at the fox. They stand up from the couch, fingers itching to elongate into sharp, knife-like claws. “Who are you?” They demand, all but glaring at him. Their night sight does let them see the similar features between Hench and him, but it doesn’t register over their shock of having a random stranger show up out of nowhere. “And don’t step on Zim.”
He turns to stare at Styx, orange eyes almost glowing in the dark room. "Who am I? Who are you? Did you drug me? I-I'll kill you if you drugged me." From the way his voice shakes it seems like a bluff. His tails are mostly tucked between his legs, the others swaying nervously as he looks around.
They huff. They’ve seen enough dogs to know this strange person is definitely scared. Just raising his hackles and growling, nothing more. “You’d know if you’d been drugged. You’re the one that probably snuck in, appearing randomly. Drink a little too much last night? Got some weird teleporting powers?”
"N-no... I don't drink. And I cant teleport..." He looks around. "And nothing looks damaged... something would be damaged if I snuck in... which I dont do. I- You dont know how I got here..?" Very nervous as he fidgets with his bracelet, clearly unable to decide if he wants it on or off.
“Well, if it didn’t get damaged, maybe you’re just really sneaky.” Frowning. “And no, I don’t. My ‘guardians’-“ big finger quotes. “Do like spontaneous adoptions, but I don’t think they’d kidnap some random kid. Especially such an obvious meta… though they’d probably be dumb enough to, actually…”
"Spontaneous adoptions? Is- is that a bad thing?" He tilts his head. "And whats a meta? I'm a mutant..." He grabs his tails, pulling them too his chest self consciously. "You dont have to make it sound like such a bad thing..."
“Eh, considering I was homeless before, there’s some pros…” side eyes him. “A meta is someone with enhancements, abilities, usually born with them?” One of their hands flexes, sharp claws appearing over nails, and the skin up to their shoulder (wearing a tank top to sleep in) turning blue with darker swirls. “It is a bad thing if you can’t hide it. Especially in Gotham.”
"You're just describing a mutant..." He looks them over, admiring their 'mutation'. "I cant hide it... wait- Gotham? Gothams not a real place. Its like comic new jersey or something."
Rolls their eyes, arm returning to how it was originally. “The term mutants kind of sounds offensive when describing metas…” laughs out loud. “Ohmygosh. What kind of rock- are you in a conspiracy, or did your parents, cult leaders, news channel, whatever, lie to you so you feel safe?” Snickering.
"Literally everywhere calls them mutants?" He blinks a few times, staring. "I- no? I grew up in New York City. On the streets. I would know if Gotham was real. I've looked at maps. I read."
Snorts derisively. “Okay. So you’re from New York - allegedly - and you don’t know Gotham is real? Even when you apparently read and whatnot? Are you sure you’re not high? I mean, I can show you ‘round the city to prove it, but that’d be a liiittle risky for your flavor of meta…”
"Gotham isnt real! Its a fake place for stories about fake heroes. Like Batman and Superman." Genuinely distressed. Feels like he's going crazy. "You're the insane one here."
Blank stare. Trying really hard not to either laugh or genuinely look concerned. “Buddy… just read the recent news articles. Look outside, or something. And remember, you’re the one who brought the word ‘insane’ into this.”
"I- no. No cause thats not- I do look outside. I look outside all the time. A-and I pay attention to the news. Probably too much. Or maybe not enough. I have been slacking since they killed Mage live but- not like- I-" Starts hyperventilating, actually freaking out. "G-et it together Voss. You're fine. Weird dream or something."
They sigh heavily. They make their nails sharp claws and pinch his arm. “Not dreaming. Who’s Mage? And you can relax. The world isn’t, you know, ending.” Right now, at least… not where they are right now, at least… “I can introduce you to my guardians, or whatever.” They’d forgotten to turn on a light due to their good night sight (they can’t make out every detail, though), and, realizing this, reach over to a lamp to turn it on, making a clink sound.
