In ATLA she was Ming, the Fire Nation prison guard that was nice to Uncle Iroh and snuck him food and tea.

In Legend of Korra she was one of the Fire Sages that found Korra when she lost her memory

Oh in my house we know serena in atla verse.

But for real how does the original benders story tie in with the tutle lions...

Lion turtles gave people the ability to use the elements. The animals (original benders) taught people mastery and to bend properly. That’s why you see Wan training with a dragon at one point and the other humans are in awe of his skills with fire. The sky bison, dragons, etc all posses the ability on their own, but humans had to be given it and then taught to use it
