Originally, I was going to use this blog for something else (that's why there was a different name here before), but that plan got botched. So, I started a different RP. Fuck you. You fucking know that the show survives on donations. They make that clear at the beginning of every episode. They don’t have money, the show doesn’t exist. It’s that simple.

They paused a goddamned tour to go to your ILLEGAL “convention”. A tour that costs a lot of time and money. They are not obligated to stay when they do not receive the money that they were promised. Money that VITAL to the show’s continued existence.

You are a pissy diva who doesn’t give a shit about the people who provide you with a well written and entertaining show for free.

I second that. Seriously, Welcome to Night Vale may not be perfect, but if they're going some place with the promise of money that they need and don't get what they're promised, they have all the right to walk off. This goes for anyone else, by the way.

((So, this is supposed to be an epilogue to “The Diary” roleplay that I did with thatoneawesomeguy a few months ago. It was supposed to be written, but I thought it would be more interesting if it was done through an audio diary, even if my voice might not be right for it (lol). This is my character, by the way. She’s a Big Sister living in an alternate version of the Rapture in Bioshock 2—one where Eleanor is Sofia Lamb’s main enforcer and leader of the Big Sisters and Delta is still dead (whether he will stay that way or not is unclear). Subject Orchid's main motivation is to escape Rapture and see sunshine, but she will have to escape from the scrutiny from not only Sofia Lamb, but also Eleanor.

Basically, the idea is based on one of the ideas Irrational Games had scrapped while developing Bioshock 2, but from the perspective of a Big Sister.

OOC Post 2:

So, for now, this blog will just be something where I post OOC stuff having to do with my new character.

Again, many of you probably don't care. You probably still want reblogs and postings of fish, science, and marine biology. That's cool, I can do that. But I will also post Bioshock, and anything having to do with video games and roleplaying.

I'll probably start something with Thom Moore again, but not for a while. Maybe when I have his character and the world around more developed. I mean, his story was originally a modern day person (re)discovering Rapture and ADAM, and learning what happened to make the city such a mess. Honestly, though, it might as well be just another bad fanfiction. Meh.

This time I won't delete the OOC post, only because I want to make sure things are clear with everyone. Thom Moore was an RP character, originally for Bioshock, but he didn't really make any sense. If you don't want to see nerdy shit being posted rather than stuff having to do with Marine Biology (though I will post some fish, 'cause I like fish), then you should probably unfollow me.

First off, apologies on the size and format. The panels are taken from my sketchbook where I didn’t really measure anything off in a standard size, so I opted for one of those long-scrolling vertical images. Recent research is beginning to show sharks for the highly complex and even intelligent animals they really are. Many people are bitten by sharks every year, but very few if any are pulled under the waves as a food source. Sharks can inspect their environment by sight, smell, pressure on their bodies, electrical senses, and touch. Touch for an animal without hands however is problematic. Think of all the things you’ve seen in your own life that deceived your eyes, but your hands could tell you more. Whether or not a window was open. If an egg was thin-shelled or thick shelled. Whether a texture was hard or soft, such as between astro-turf or a chenille blanket. Sharks bite objects to inspect them, much as a human toddler puts objects in their mouths. They may be rewarded with food, but spit things out that are inedible or simply not what the shark is looking for.  Shark populations of all species have declined by as much as 90% of their historic levels. With seven billion humans on earth, many of them vacationing or living in the sharks’ backyards, it’s understandable that once in awhile a mistake is made. Be knowledgeable that they are honest mistakes and most sharks simply do not see people as a food source.

Something just happened.

I can't talk about it here. Not now, at least. It could have been nothing, a result of staying up for two nights with little to no sleep. I still need to double check. I should probably call someone.

But. If this is what I think it is, then--well, I'm not too sure yet. But things are about to change.

Anyway, the simple answer is because I can, and you're just going to have to deal.

The real answer, however, has to do with the samples that I'm looking at tonight. They're all sea slugs that were sent over about a week ago. I should be done with them all by Friday, but I would like to get it done sooner than that.

More commonly known as sea slugs, nudibranchs are a very beautiful species of mollusc, famous for their stunning array of colours. Their name comes from the Latin for “naked”. They have venomous appendages on their sides to keep predators away. Nudibranchs are also all hermaphrodite - they have a set of organs for both sexes, but cannot fertilize themselves. Most are carnivorous, and a few are even cannibalistic!
