Okay so since I’ve seen a few posts asking who the blonde submas were (today and a few other days), I figured I would make a post explaining it, because I love internationalmas and this way I can just link this post if someone needs explanation, so. -u-

Okay, let’s go: What is this ‘internationalmas’ business?

Internationalmas is a ‘group headcanon’ on Pixiv that goes along the lines of ‘every nationality of Submas is a different person with different personalities and designs’. By nationality, I mean that all of the languages that Pokemon BW has been released in gets a different Submas design. The ones seen in the game that everyone is familiar with are ‘Nobori and Kudari’ (▲ and ∇ for those who were unaware), and they are Japanese. The blonde haired/blue eyes Submas seen second most often are ‘Ingo and Emmet’, and they are usually American (sometimes British, but mostly American). After Ingo and Emmet, the most commonly seen ones are Spanish Fero and Caril. For some reason, I have yet to see a drawing of Caril where he is wearing something that can actually be counted as a shirt.

Those guys are pretty much the main ones drawn, although there are also Italian (Andy and Torn (oh which there is also a really cute doujin about, but that is unrelated)), Korean and Chinese (Iunno their names because I never see them drawn), German (Hin and Her), French (Chammal and Chamsin).

Also, a few more things to add that might be interesting, in case: 海外マス/ForeignMas/Internationalmas personalities are different than regular Submas, as Neko mentioned. The most obvious is that the English submas are a lot more wild/delinquent/loose (depending on who’s asking) in their personalities, which is why they have piercings, messier hair, smoke and drink, are a little more relaxed on their jobs, etc. And they are more often lately being drawn as taller than regular submas.

Ingo and Emmet sometimes have green eyes, sometimes blue. Usually Capo Metro have brown eyes, sometimes they have brown hair too. Chef and Meister often have blond hair also (sometimes Chef Metro have curly blond hair), and Jefe Metro usually have the brown hair (sometimes sexy curly hair!). source

I’ve never seen Korean or Chinese Submas drawn either. ;_; Bulbapedia says their Mandarin title is 地下鐵總控官 Dìxiàtiě Zǒngkòngguān. Their names are 北尚 Běishàng and 南廈 Nánxià 상행 Sanghaeng and 하행 Hahaeng are their Korean names.

The Subway Bosses often visit the Subway Masters in fanart. Sometimes it even involves Animas and Gamemas too, but that’s another story! Relevant tags to this discussion (for those interested):

海外マス or 海外サブマス (foreignMas/foreignSubmas) = internationalmas. The most common, usually means the English version but sometimes others too.

インゴ = Subway Boss Ingo

エメット = Subway Boss Emmet

サブボス = SubBoss (English Subway Bosses)

These are rare:

チーフメトロ = Chef Metro

カポメトロ = Capo Metro

メトロマイスター = Metromeister
