always a good time to remember that this is a minecraft roleplay where they play roles in minecraft for fun and profit. itâs always totally okay to just,, bonus action disengage from the stream. for any reason ever. no pressure to stick around. if u still wanna know what happens thatâs what recap accounts are for! take it easy.
something I really love is how the revivebook was created because cc!dream needed a reason for why his character would switch sides during the pogtopia war, and it ended up being just such a classic literalization for the way that his character is just unable to let go of the past. because there is really no stronger metaphor/allegory for an inability to let go than necromancy.
new manhunt au idea: Dream married each of them individually at some point without the others knowing (as like a fraud kinda thing maybe idk) but now they all found out he's currently married to 6 people and all of them team up to kill him over it đ
This gets funnier the more hunters show up. like first George just thought Dream cheated on him with Sapnap. And then ok weird turns out he might've cheated with Bad, too, which is awkward for everyone, but they've already been hunting him down for a while when Ant shows up so like ??? is this one ??? recent??? The answer to that one when it comes to Sam and Puffy is that even while being hunted down by MULTIPLE PEOPLE Dream STILL managed to get married. TWICE.
I think its really funny if c!Dream is like going through existential levels of horror, God is wearing his face, something is wrong with his server, dying places you in a eternal limbo with crazy time dialation, there are powers at play stronger than he can imagine, reality is falling apart and no one else cares.
And everyone else is making things 10 times more difficult for him because they decide to torture him, or execute someone, or make nukes, or form a egg cult. They don't even realize the fabric of reality is falling apart, and Dream is scrambling to figure it out with basically everyone sabotaging him.
c!Dream had a whole character breaking psychotic meltdown during Pogtopia yet no one noticed and I donât think we talk about that enough đđđ
it's not even that nobody noticed, they all just sort of went "oh he's crazy now okay" and just sort of accepted it fully without question like. okay um are any of you gonna check up on him like hello what's going on how is this normal c!dream behavior to anyone
dream is making up different reasons he has a cast any time someone in chat asks and so far weâve got:
cornered by 3 burly men (each at least 6 ft tall) in an alleyway
was skiing with george and george tried to do a backflip and landed on dreamâs arm
(breaking his nda to tell us this) was at skeppyâs house and broke his arm and skeppy said not to tell anybody
he was speedrunning and drdonut hacked into his world and killed the ender dragon before he could and he got so mad he slammed his hand on the desk a bunch of times and broke it
trying to pick the 6th hunter and picked someone and talked to them in person about it and they said they would only do it if they could break his arm to set back his progress so they could train and be good enough to beat him
daquavis broke it (and therefore should be banned)
didnât want his arm amputated so agreed to have it put in a cast
was trying to take a cool photo on top of the eiffel tower and fell and broke his right arm and back and leg (is currently playing minecraft from his wheelchair)
this big guy challenged his world record in arm wrestling and beat him and snapped his arm (was going to lose his arm if he didnât put it in a cast for a couple months)
was on a roller coaster and put his hands up and the roller coaster malfunctioned and his arm smacked into an iron bar and it broke and the disney doctor said he might have to be put down but they were able to put a cast on his arm and fix it
had to get a hand transplant because he couldnât beat minecraft fast enough because he didnât have the right genetics
you donât wanna know
tried to milk a cow irl and it didnât like that so it bit him and his arm was just stuck in his mouth and he kept squeezing and it kept biting and eventually he got his arm out and it was broken
callahan wasnât doing his job and dream yelled at him too loudly and so callahan beat the crap out of him and broke his arm and then dream fired him
(bonus: he broke his back when gumball came back for round 2 and snapped him over his knee)
motorcycle accident (was pulled over for speeding and then ran from the cop and got away and hid at skeppyâs house and broke his arm climbing through skeppyâs window)
badboyhalo sat on his arm and his big volumptuous butt broke it
was tunneling in california and there was a carpool going through the tunnel while they were digging because they thought it was finished and he tried to grab skeppy and pull him out of the way but couldnât save him and skeppy got ran over and so did dreamâs wrist and skeppy got a skeppy transplant and is okay now but dreamâs wrist is broken
canât really share the story because some of the people involved made him sign NDAs. ok so he was in a mrbeast video about who could jork it for 24 hours and he won but did break his wrist in the process
the dream team was trying to see how many times they could hit their hand with a hammer without saying âowâ and george got 0 but dream and sapnap were at like 270 or something and unfortunately dreamâs wrist broke
was at a gay club wearing a wig and hit on a man who was apparently married and they took him out back and broke his arm and legs
i think in the mh/cdream swap au, mh dream would still be habitually nomadic but he'd build a house just for the novelty. like he's never had time or any reason to build one before so he'd just try his hand at it for fun, and it would probably be So Fucking ugly like just a dirt shack with some planks or gravel where he accidentally ran out of dirt blocks. and he'd probably build it somewhere that it'd be an eyesore on purpose just to provoke people into trying to fight him because he's a messy bitch. Like right in front of the entrance to the prison or on top of skeppy's house or the lmanhole or some shit. he doesn't even stay in it because if he stops moving he feels like he's gonna crawl out of his own skin, so it's literally just there to annoy people. ctechno gives him SO much crap about it but is also endeared because yeah, that's definitely dream even if he's a little different, no one else is that godawful at building. or that insistent on the merits of the homeless lifestyle
giving cdream access to modern minecraft features not dissimilar to teaching a velociraptor how to open doors. complementary post to my last mh/cdream swap post. hes having the most fun hes had in years
Happy holidays to everyone! @remitro Iâm your secret santa, and you have two big drawing because i got caried away âď¸ You can see the dream team (and a special scaly guest) in a fantasy setting with manhunt elements. I hope youâll enjoy your gift!
And special thank you to @dreamsclock for hosting this event!
i joined the fandom mid-2022 but i read some old analyses and some people were saying that dream was really interwoven into a lot of storylines (in the post-prisonbreak era) and they couldnât continue without him and he wasnât logging on/communicating. not sure is this is related to what your post was about, but was that true?
I have some points I can't be bothered writing a full essay on, so I'll just give you some bullet points.
The story most affected exclusively by Dream's unavailability (or the reasons behind it) is c!Dream's.
Dream was not a showrunner. It was not Dream's job to write these people's stories for them. For nearly all of the complainers, with the sole exception of Karl, neither c!Dream nor XD had any good reason to be in those stories, let alone play such a pivotal role that they couldn't possibly have been developed or concluded without Dream.
While Dream's absence could explain why certain stories were less than they could have been, that would require the writers of those stories to have actually written them to begin with instead of just publicly complaining about Dream not being available, without ever giving a good enough reason as to why he was even needed to begin with.
Dream's absence is no excuse. If these creators felt they absolutely had to tell those stories, they would have found a way to do so with or without Dream.
A lot of massive, glaring issues in the story and writing, which were absolutely necessary for at least one of the finales, were not at all Dream's fault. For example, Ranboo's absence is egregious. His absence kneecapped c!Wilbur's story so bad that Wilbur had to publish the necessary streams as a story on AO3. The story needed c!Ranboo in the finale as a balance to c!Punz, and it needed a confrontation between c!Ranboo and c!Tommy to properly challenge c!Tommy's views on c!Dream. Another example: Tommy spent what felt like a year attempting to develop c!Tommy into someone who was able to reflect on his wrongdoings and grow, to be called out and confront his actions. However, other creators were more interested in pandering to the "c!Tommy can do no wrong" crowd even when the guy was all but saying "please tell my character he's wrong" (ahem. Philza and the most insane fail rp moment to ever grace that server.)
On that point, not all of the creators on dsmp seemed to actually care about lore as anything other than a means of getting views and praise. They weren't doing lore because they had a story to tell, or because they wanted to make art -- if they were, they would've fucking made the art anyway. Or, at least, their image was more important than the story. This resulted in people who had no business including Dream and Tommy in their stories, or inserting themselves into the discduo storyline, making stuff about discduo because, as creators complained, apparently the audience just didn't care about stories that didn't involve them. Instead of examining what Dream and Tommy were doing that they weren't, they just decided that it must have been about Dream and Tommy themselves.
Many of the issues with the story could've been solved by people just actually playing on the server without needing Dream to hold their hands through it. Unfortunately, at least two different creators (Puffy and Aimsey) blamed the audience throwing tantrums about every breath taken by people on the server as a reason why people didn't have fun playing anymore. At least two other creators (Eret and Dream) talked about being treated poorly by the audience because of their character's actions. At least one other creator (Sapnap), showed downright disdain for how the audience behaved towards creators because of things in the story.
Putting the blame exclusively on Dream for the flaws of dsmp is scapegoating. It's a means of absolving other creators of blame while providing no reason why it was exclusively Dream's fault, why all of the complainers couldn't simply have gotten together and done their own damn lore without him if they wanted it so badly, and why none of these creators had any agency whatsoever over their own characters, stories, and streams. It's giving Dream a frankly superhuman level of control over a server we're supposed to believe he was rarely even involved in to begin with.
milds posts got me mh/cdream-swappilled and now im thinking about it too much. heres some mhdream and ctechno rivalsduo. 2 me... mh dream dresses EXTREMELY conspicuously, like a green traffic cone, while cdream (and everyone else on the server) wears darker & more muted colors, so mh dream stands out like a sore thumb next to everyone else. not that he gaf
