Birkenstocks: The Redux

They’re backkkkkkk…again! I remember Birkenstocks being highly coveted during my senior year of high school. Although I wasn’t entirely fond of the style, I gave in to peer pressure and purchased a knock-off pair (which as a misguided teen I wore with socks!). While I’m still on the fence about them, there’s no denying that Birkenstock has transcended time to become one of the most popular summer sandal. If you are in the same boat as I am and still unsure about introducing this classic into your wardrobe, you will be pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of styles available this summer. Check out some of my favorites and how even the traditional Arizona style has been re-imagined by other designers.

Crave-Worthy While I'm still on the fence about the slip-on trend, I've got to admit, there's nothing to hate about this pair. The gilded gold coloring & intricately placed leather strips that create a snake-skin like effect have helped convince me that this might be a trend worth trying.

J.Crew has once again teamed up with New Balance to release a limited edition collaboration: an “Inferno” edition of the much-loved 998. Crafted in New Balance’s Skowhegan, Maine factory, the release draws inspiration from warmer climates to employ a combination of bright orange, deep purple, and fire red across its premium suede and breathable mesh upper.

J'adore - Peter Pilotto for Target

The latest collection in Targets’ designer collaboration series comes from Peter Pilotto. Known for graphic prints and structured silhouettes, this up-and-coming British label has been gaining a lot of buzz and is popular with celebs such as Gwen Stefani, Jessica Alba, and Sienna Miller.

Select pieces will be available at both Target and Net-a-Porter starting February 9th. Despite their questionable decision not to sell Beyonce’s latest CD (virtual side-eye) Target continues to hit home runs with the release of these exciting lines.
