His last escapade in Citta was difficult enough, and that was when he had the luxury of actually having friends there to rely on. This time, when somehow everything in the city seemed hellbent on killing him without a friendly hand to smack his before he got into trouble? Well, that didn’t help.
Thankfully, Sector Six didn’t seem quite as badly effected as other areas, which was probably why Tamaki remained in one piece. It didn’t stop the harsh premature winter chill, however. And he was feeling it in his shabby, thin non-brand-name winter coat that was provided for him in the hovel that was supposed to be an “apartment.” Maybe going out for a walk around the park wasn't the best of ideas, he thought as he furiously rubbed at his arms for warmth. But it was that, or stayed cooped up inside sadly reminiscing over those left behind at home. Who knew, maybe he’d run into someone he knew. (as guilty as that made him feel. He wouldn’t want to wish this on any of his friends again.) If he didn’t freeze right then and there, that is.
A soft whimper snapped him snapped him out of his own little world, bringing him to look around. It took him a minute to spot it, seeing as it probably was it did not want to be found, but curled up shaking near a cluster of trees was what looked like a dog. A greyhound, or some mix, maybe. But what did stand out was that it was terrified. And probably extremely cold.
Anyone with an ounce of common sense would probably know not to approach a stray animal without precaution, especially if they were frightened. But, this was “Tamaki-bleeding heart-the best way to train a dog is to let her knock me over and lick my face off Suoh.” And what he saw was a poor, defenseless animal in need of love and care and attention.
So of course he approached it without any tools for restraining it or methods to calm it down. As he approached, the animal shrank back, muzzle curling in a scowl, its body language practically screaming stay away.
To which he crouched down and used what to him was the best puppy-soothing voice ever. “It’s okay, honey. Are you lost? Do you need to find your mommy or daddy?” Only a snarl and a bark answered him. Okay… Startling, worrisome? But perhaps a friendly pat, a gesture of peace and love and cuddles-
A pair of jaws clamped down on his hand the moment he reached it out.
A small squeak escaped him just before his brain decided to register what just happened. And when it did, it wasn’t pretty.
“Gy-GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!”Â
