Well, now she feels super lame.  She can at least pretend to know what those things are, but she’s a little insecure offering up her basic-  as-fuck major in comparison to those… whatever they are.

Maybe if she mutters it quiet enough, the other won’t hear her.

     Piper’s nonverbal causes Kae to wonder if perhaps      she should’ve explained photonics a bit, but the      moment’s already passed. And the last thing she      needs is another awkward conversation --- such      have arisen all too frequently, as of late. 

     College was uncomfortable enough as a newb, but       a 16 year old newb ? She’s been asked how old      she was thrice already today.
