Officers Involved in Murder Of Nigerian Student Acquitted Even After Video Released Of Them Beating And Torturing Him to Death
A jury acquitted two deputies of killing a Nigerian college student in a Savannah, Georgia jail cell last New Year’s Day, but convicted them of lesser charges, a lawyer for Matthew’s family said on Friday.
Former deputies Jason Kenny and Maxine Evans were found not guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Matthew Ajibade, 21, who the coroner said died of blunt force trauma. Kenny was found guilty of cruelty to an inmate while Evans was found guilty of public records fraud and three counts of perjury for her false grand jury testimony regarding the restraint chair log, said O'Mara. Ajibade was arrested on a domestic violence charge on Jan. 1, 2015, after allegedly hitting his girlfriend and breaking a deputy’s nose during a bipolar episode, as described by his family. Police handcuffed him to the chair and placed him in isolation where he was later found unresponsive.
When Ajibade’s body was found on January 2, he had a spit mask on his face and abrasions, scrapes and bumps on his upper body and head, according to the coroner.
The cause of death was determined to be “blunt force trauma.“

The Jail surveillance which shows Matthew being punched and kicked in a fight with deputies, then being left alone in restraints for an hour and a half
A Stun Gun camera which show police officers using a stun gun on Ajibade’s testicles repeatedly while he’s restrained in a chair.
Despite all the evidence, The officers were still found not guilty on manslaughter charges and theres been no word on if the sentencing of their lesser charges has been given yet.
