A...Wedding?
He was surprised at how calm Cyrus always was. Bill didn’t know what he was expecting, but it was just odd. It looked like a lot was going on inside his head… maybe this was a smart guy. Still, it was kind of creepy to think that the leader of Team Galactic was right next to him.
“Hm? Oh, hey, I’m Bill.” He really didn’t think they were going to talk at all, which would’ve been fine with him. Cyrus’ hand was stuck out awkwardly, and it took Bill a second to realize that he wanted to shake hands. He hastily stuck out his hand too, and they shook hands for less than a second. There was no way he could make any kind of conversation with this guy! At least… not normal conversation… Thinking back to all of the things he’d heard of Team Galactic, he decided he’d talk about that and see if Cyrus really was evil at all. Did he maybe have good intentions?
“Uh, so anyway… I couldn’t help but notice that you’re the leader of Team Galactic. I know that’s not really the best way to start conversation, but, I want to know something. Why exactly did you want to do all of that? What was your ultimate goal? I’ve heard a lot of bad things about Team Galactic, but… you don’t seem that bad.”
So the handshake had been appropriate. Good. Cyrus discretely pulled a disinfectant wipe from his pocket, cleaning his hand off under the table. As amiable as this Bill fellow seemed at first glance, Cyrus wasn't taking any chances with germs.
He was silent a moment, after Bill's prompted question. Had it not been obvious enough? Or had the media simply covered it in a biased manner? Resting his hands in his lap, and using his normal, calm and even voice, Cyrus decided to indulge the man's question. "Tell me, Bill, have you ever been bullied? Not because you did anything particularly wrong or inhumane, but simply because you were different, or refused to conform to society's standards of 'normal'?" He would try to keep from working himself up, however concealing his passion for the subject would be hard to do. "I have been. Repeatedly. By not one, but many groups of people. All throughout my life, I have been a victim of bullying, even though I made no qualms with others. It seemed to me to be a part of the human nature had been flawed, that they feel the need to trample the innocent, and berate the weak. I wanted to stand up for those without a voice, or those too scared or small to make a difference. Team Galactic was going to correct that part of the human nature that was flawed, make it pure and seamless as we were meant to be. Unfortunately, my means were...incorrect." Yes, play the contrite card...that was what he would need to do. Claim defeat and redirection.
