Hermes; And what do we say when we feel like this
Orpheus: la la la la la la
Hermes: no
Eva: opens her mouth Sound: comes out Me: goes absolutely feral
Even though Orpheus fails to rescue Eurydice, I like to think that the impact he had on the people in Hadestown doesnāt fade away. I like to think that the workers remember the songs he was singing, remember his melodies even if they canāt remember his name, and become a little bit more free and self-aware as a result. And I like to think that sometimes, when Eurydice hums those songs to herself, she remembers, for a brief moment, the face of the boy that she loved.
thinking about how Hadestown doesnāt have a curtain to separate the audience from the stage so you just see the actors trickle out on to the stage and how the show openly invites you to talk during the opening (āAāight? Aāight!!) and how the band gets introduced by Persephone and how Orpheus races through the audience and thereās a song after the curtain call because they donāt just want you to feel like part of story but wants you to be part of the story which is the exact point of the show bc we all retell the story of Orpheus and Eurydice with stars in our eyes and hope in our hearts!!
āChant Iā is very good and powerful but also kind of inadvertently hilarious because
PERSEPHONE: āIn the darkest time of year WHY is it so BRIGHT down here? brighter than a carnival it aināt right and it aināt naturalā
HADES: āLover, you were gone so long lover, I was lonesome so I laid a power grid on the ground on which you stoodā
translates pretty well into
PERSEPHONE: āoh my god i just had a going away party and now i come down here expecting it to be nice and dark, but now thereās fuckin lights all over and i have a hangover, what the fuck, husbandā
HADES: āyou left me alone and youāre like 90% of my impulse control so i wired the entire underworld for power, do you not like it????ā
whoever made this deserves an award
me: [discovers a new musical]
Hahahahahahaha
There was a poor boy and a hungry young girl. She called his name before she went. So he set out singing on the road to hell, to bring her home again.
WHOA WHOA WHOA waitā¦.bottom right,, you can see orpheus brighten up as he hears her voice, but then he notices the desperation with which she says his name and his face falls
I donāt think anyone can understand how mad I am at how they treated Ali Stroker last night. They literally kept her backstage because they didnāt have a ramp for the night. All they had to do was get one cheap little ramp and instead they completely degraded a Tony nominee, now winner, by setting her apart from everyone else. Until the Tony awards are accessible for all, then theyāre not as inclusive as they boast about being.Ā
Is anybody listening?
I open my mouth and nothing comes out.
Nothing, nothing gonna wake me now.
Wait for me, Iām coming Wait, Iām coming with you Wait for me, Iām coming too Iām coming too
GOD this show looks so freaking amazing
Can I just say she keeps killing me with this?
ok i know i literally reblogged this like⦠a few hours ago at most, and that my previous post was just of the full video, but i swear to god iāve been listening to this one section on a loop ever since and i am begging youā¦ā¦.. please press play
anais mitchell deserves a tony bc she wrote the iconic āla la la la la la laā
