Luhan let his chin rest in the palm of his hand as his eyes remained fixed on his computer screen, idly browsing as he waited to hear back from a client. 

He decided he was just existing for today. Talking to the least amount of people, doing the least amount of work that he had to. Not like it was what he really wanted, despite the emptiness weighing heavily in his chest.

It always stopped by to remind him of what he is, what he deserves, and all that he probably will ever be, despite anything that anyone else might have told him. He wasn't quite sure why anyone felt the need to tell him otherwise, having decided to just live with being the disappointment he is up until he doesn't have to. The emptiness is nagging though, gnawing at him the way it does, and it's annoying. So annoying, it's unbearable.

Luhan let his eyes wander from the computer screen to the drawer on the left of his desk, and it didn't take much thought before he was digging in it.

He retrieved a wrinkled plastic bag containing a couple pills, a spoon, a rolled scrap of paper, and an old gift card he'd received from a client probably two years ago, making quick work of what had been left in the bag. Wrinkling his nose, he made a mental note not only of who to go to but to go up in dosage as well.

Soon three neat lines of crushed white powder were laid out against the glossy finish, and not long after were they gone, leaving only little specs in the computer company's embossed logo. He sat back in his seat, ran his hands over his face and breathed deeply, waiting. 

He welcomed the warmth blooming in his chest when it finally came, replacing the emptiness with a sweet euphoria alike to the best sex he ever had in his life. Alike to a comforting embrace that he always missed, and savored, like suddenly he wasn't such a disappointment after all. Then for the next few hours, life would just be so much better. Not really, but it would certainly feel like it.

What life had been like before Oxy, Luhan could hardly remember, but a life without it now would have to be miserable, in his opinion at least. Since they were introduced, he couldn't recall a time when the warmth didn't make the emptiness go away, and for that he would be forever grateful.
