A staple of the Desert is the stars. Without the light pollution of Battery City, it’s like you see entire galaxies above your head - and you can. You can see the stars no matter where you are in the Zones, and if you need them, they’ll guide you home.

That’s why, when it’s too final to say good-bye, when you know you’re never seeing someone again, it’s become custom to say, Starsight, and then their full name.

It’s a good-bye, it’s a find-your-way-home, an I-love-you, all in one. Because good-bye is too final.

You better pray that in their dying hour they can still see the stars.

Okay, but listen, Killjoys having adopted PLUR from rave culture.

Killjoys from all across the Zones making kandi bracelets from beads and cool rocks or little bells or feathers or even bones and other trinkets they find laying around!

The Nest being The Place™ to trade bracelets, since it's p much a hotspot for parties/concerts in the desert.

Killjoys who often go to The Nest having both arms up to the elbow covered in bracelets, but still trading them w/ others and making even more bracelets in their spare time.

Leaving bracelets in the mailbox for the Phoenix Witch when someone dies.

Killjoys fighting over who gets the first trade of the younger killjoys coming to The Nest.

Killjoys conveniently "forgetting" their favourite bracelets or those given by someone they love at their base.

In conclusion, killjoys and PLUR.

what makes the graffiti bible so important is that it’s unwritten as a whole, and constantly changing. they are the words written on walls, no matter how big or small, matter-of-fact or poetic, it cannot be collected into a single work. it’s in battery city bathrooms, and the sides of cliffs in the zones, uncontainable, temporary, a reflection of the writers themselves.

there’s a place in zone two called the cemetery valley. it earns its name from the hundreds of rows of neatly arranged tombstones that stretch for miles. they say everyone’s name is written on one of them, but no one can ever find their own. party poison went looking for his, but only managed to find jet’s and kobra’s, both of which were inscribed with their respective birth names.

and the only people left alive who know jet’s real name are the members of the fabulous four, who, besides party poison… have never been to that side of the zones…

maybe when you die, while your name disappears from cemetery valley, it does appear in one of the haphazard graves in the burial gardens. your birth name, at least. they say your killjoy name, no matter how obscene, get’s its own tree in the dead forest.
