Silence Certain times, I enjoy silence in solitude: Basking in the quietness, Feeling it okay it’s luxurious notes On and across my veins, Feeling it linger on every speck Of tangled thought that crosses my mind, Feeling it hop on my heart Making my heart beat louder And louder Until I am filled with an unheard voice “-you exist. You are alive.” And the thought sends me on An adrenaline rush. Other times, The stillness is overpowering: I feel it clamber my thoughts, Weigh me down And gnaw at my insides, Until I feel the cities In my mind crack. Until the crack grows, Until they eventually collapse, Leaving the bridge between My heart and My brain, My emotions and logical reasoning In the fogging distance Swinging from side to side.
