My Corona: the Anatomy Formerly Known as the Hymen and the Myths that Surround It.
Often known by the established term “hymen,” the vaginal corona is the subject of many myths and misunderstandings. The most important of these is the notion that a the vaginal opening is covered by a membrane that ruptures with vaginal sex. This is incorrect. There is no such membrane.
From a brilliant post courtesy of the RFSU (Swedish Association for Sexuality Education) over at Scarleteen. Be sure to read the rest here.
Once again I was totally ignorant about this, all those stupid and harmful sex myths have to stop
What utter garbage.
“Oh, women are choosing to do something. We must support it!”
No.
I just saw a post on polygamy in Islam, where the above logic was used. The post talked about how “sweet” or something it was that some dude’s wife was helping him look for another wife.

The Persistent Myth of the Vaginal Orgasm
Via Slate
“Between the recent flare-up over whether or not upper-middle-class housewives are merely the most awesome people ever or the greatest bestest awesomest people ever and yet another well-trafficked story claiming to “prove” that there’s a G-spot on scientifically flimsy evidence, I’m beginning to think our culture has a hang-up. The prefeminist ideal of woman existing as an appendage for man, where her vocation is as his support staff and even her sexual pleasure is oriented around sexual penetration, simply isn’t the cultural norm anymore, but the fantasy lives on.”
I hate this world

If no cultural barrier prevents a public that clearly loves its superheroes from picking up a new “Avengers” comic, why don’t more people do so? The main reasons are obvious: It is for sale not in a real bookstore but in a specialty shop, and it is clumsily drawn, poorly written and incomprehensible to anyone not steeped in years of arcane mythology.
Tim Marchman’s (“Comic Book Smack Down” in The Wall Street Journal), on Marvel and DC inability to sell comics to the millions of people who are obviously extremely interested in the characters those comic books generated after The Avengers success.

In the 2008 Rugby Autumn Tests, Wales responded to the haka by standing on the pitch refusing to move until the All Blacks did. This resulted in the referee Jonathan Kaplan berating both teams for a full two minutes after the haka had ended until eventually New Zealand captain McCaw instructed his team to break off. After a spirited first half display which ended with Wales leading 9 - 6, the All Blacks responded positively and won the game 9 - 29.
OMG my feelings this fucking movie, these two
