Another thing I like about The Haunted Palace is how it's really Yeo Ri's story.

The imugi tells her to stay away from the capital and she goes anyway. The stewards tell her to stay in the tailor's office and she sneaks off to go investigate. She uses her profession as a cover to steal the king's glasses. She scolds resentful spirits. Gang Cheol warns her off the Colossal Shadow/Palcheokgwi so she exorcises the spirit in the prince despite his warnings. She has plans after plans. There is a hidden cache of shaman instruments on the mountain that she arranged as a backup. Yeo Ri is shown being resourceful and being willing to change plans when circumstances change. I love the expressions Bona makes when Yeo Ri is confronted by a new obstacle and you can see her reevaluate. AND the drama is letting her be wrong about some things and change her mind. It just really feels like she has agency in this drama.
