since the general consensus is that elysian’s sole ability is to nullify other’s abilities (as was technically shown at the end of stellarlune)… why didn’t the council utilize this? like sure it may be scary if she used it in certain ways maliciously, but if she wasn’t ostracized or treated like a threat, she would’ve grown up particularly “normal” and likely wouldn’t turn to crime? and they (council) could’ve even given her a job suited to her.

as an example, it would be so useful with fintan. or! if you’re just trying to transport a prisoner. that way there’s zero possibility of them breaking free with their ability.

a large part of elvin society is abilities - i think at some point they mention that abilities are what set them apart from the other intelligent species, and the whole point of matchmaking is to make kids with the most powerful abilities. someone’s social standing is largely determined by their ability.

so an elf that can nullify abilities? that scares the council. and sure, they can try to control elysian and make her grow up loyal to the council, but if more elves manifest that ability, the council can’t keep an eye on them all, and they’re scared that at one point, they’ll rise up against them, and they won’t be able to defend themselves without their abilities. so to protect themselves from what they see as a threat…they lock her away. i’m not quite sure how the power stones tie into this - perhaps elysian used them once and that was what pushed the councillors into locking her away, and the nightfall event probably has a different meaning than what sophie’s been told, so maybe that? idk - but either way, elysian is locked up and her existence forgotten about. the elves don’t want anyone to know about this huge vulnerability, so the councillors hide it away in their caches, forbid anyone from talking about it until eventually she’s completely forgotten. shannon herself mentioned that this is the biggest secret in all of the lost cities.

hm, but if nullifying abilities is an ability...wouldn’t someone else have manifested it by now? how weird that there’s a whole group of people who haven’t manifested any abilities at all...
