I think anyone who shames other people for harming themselves is a piece of shit. I think that self harm can even be a good thing in certain circumstances. For example, me. Because of my mental state I get VERY violent thoughts and feelings. When I get upset I have to break or hurt something. I’ve taken more meds than any other 17 year old I’ve ever met. And nothing stops these thoughts. Hurting myself is the only thing that gets rid of these urges to enact pain and violence on others.

And I’m not a violent person, immediately after doing anything harmful even to just a piece of furniture I break down sobbing. I’m terrified of my own violent nature and don’t want to do these things. That’s why I think self harm is beneficial to SOME PEOPLE. If someone has violent thoughts and the only way to get rid of them is to drug themselves into a coma or hurt themself, they should hurt themself.

This isn’t Romanticizing self harm or fetishizing self harm. SH is a disgusting horrible thing that destroys your mind. But for some people it’s the only choice.

For me it’s my only choice.
