Intro post time!
This one's gonna be a long one! General information here and introductions under the cut :3
Hello hi! Welcome to our personal/system sideblog! I'm Flower, and I'm here to tell you a little bit about us and the system as a whole. I'll start with general info about boundaries, DNI so on and so forth.
First off, we are a DID system, and our system name is "Summersky sys", though it is subject to change in the future :P
We also have no strict DNI. We will, however, block to our heart's content! We hope you understand.
And finally, before getting to individual intros, our boundaries are as follows:
We are generally OK with asks! Ask to your heart's content! If we're uncomfortable with a question, we will simply not answer. I swear we don't bite!
We are, however, NOT OK with people bringing up syscourse unprompted in our posts/asks/DMs. Please respect this.
(Some) Alter intros under the cut!
Sif (They/He). Current main host. Siffrin introject trying their best. Tag: 🤍
Aike (They/Them). Mostly in charge of our main blog (starryaike), so they probably won't post much in here. Tag: ☔️
Flower (They/It). Chara Introject, though doesn't really identify as them that much. The one who made this blog! Tag: 🌼
Nira (She/Her). Generally very sweet and patient. Tag: 🪻
Aster (It/Its). Has a calming presence to it. Usually sleepy. Tag: 🌟
Eider (They/It). Feels very strong emotions. Can and WILL hold a grudge. Tag: 🛸
Nesi (They/Ey/Fae/Drop). Also feels very strong emotions. Probably won't be in here a lot. Tag: 🌧
Azul (She/They). Lapis Lazuli introject. Tag: 🌊
Somni (It/Any). Dissociates quite a lot. It's also very fun to draw. Tag: 🫧
Chara (They/It). One of the two other Chara introjects. Don't get them mixed up! Is usually serious. Tag: 💛
Chara (They/It). The other one. more lighthearted. Tag: 🌒
🍃 - if ur whole system got stranded on an island, who would survive the longest?
🌺 - do u have any belongings that are owned by a specific alter? if so, what are they?
🎀 - who was the first alter u discovered in ur system?
🍃 - DEFINITELY Void. Its resilience knows no bounds :P
🌺 - We don't exactly have anything owned by anyone specifically but we definitely have things that some alters see as theirs more than others, if that makes sense? Anyways, Lily has a plushie that comforts her, Sif has some clothes... and I think that's it? I don't think I'm missing anything.
🎀 - Already answered this one, so let's go for the second one we discovered instead. Which waaaas Lily!
🍏 - what’s one experience u look back on from before u knew u were a system and go “oh my god, it’s so obvious i was plural!”
This was already answered in a different ask, but I guess I can talk a little bit about other similar experiences we've had where it was so obvious we were plural in hindsight.
I guess one of the most prevalent feelings I can associate with growing up as a child while being a system is the sensation that I truly had no real personality. I think? this is something that happens to a lot of kids in one way or another without it necessarily meaning they're plural, but for us it kind of clicked when we discovered we were so way later in life. Like, the feeling of having to fake through the day because you wouldn't be "acting like yourself", and that leading up to wondering if I was even a real person with an actual personality... well, I guess it all comes around to dissociation in the end.
🌷 - do u have any alters with an oddly specific role/purpose?
Rem (and, to a lesser degree, Aster) kind of help us sleep. We struggle with being sleepy for a number of reasons mostly related to our meds, but sometimes we need a bit of help when it comes to actually falling asleep. Those aren't their only roles, but they're the most relevant to this question.
🎀 - who was the first alter u discovered in ur system?
Nira! She has kinda been here our whole life, on top of being the first one Aike ever discovered.
🧩 - does ur system have any nonhuman alters? if so, what’s the silliest creature u have?
Yes! As to who is the silliest, that's a good question... But my gut reaction would be Somni (pictured below). It's originally an OC we made for a class project, and it is supposed to be the concept of dreams personified. What our brain seemed to interpret from that was that it dissociates a whole lot, cause that's what it mostly does. Thus, its memories are suuuper spotty. Other than that, very silly guy (gender neutral)!
🍏 - what’s one experience u look back on from before u knew u were a system and go “oh my god, it’s so obvious i was plural!”
We were thinking about this the other day. There are a lot of small things that we now look back upon and can find plurality as an answer, though not the only answer. The constant dissociation we had as a child, for example, was something we didn't notice until our adulthood. Even then, it had to be pointed out by our therapist. But that isn't really obvious- Dissociation can happen for a lot of reasons, and not nearly all of it is unhealthy or outside of normal human behaviour, at least to my understanding.
I guess the most obvious experiences are also the most cliché: "imaginary friends" well into our teenage years that our (at the time) host would hold conversations with, unexplained memory gaps, not recognizing our surroundings... You get the gist
I want to leave this open for other Black systems to reply to cause this calls for many perspectives beyond my own limited one. In my opinion though, the answer to a question like this is the same regardless of what community we're talking about. I just need people to get a lot more anti-racist tbh. Hearing us out is one thing, but it's admittedly easy to pass our words along and feel good for a bit...meanwhile, what's actually getting done to change our circumstances for the better? The hard work comes when you start trying to materially apply what we talk about to your own life ESPECIALLY in ways that are uncomfortable and/or require effort on your part.
There may not be a lot of information on Blackness and DID specifically out there, but there sure is a ton about the intersection of Blackness and mental illness in general! Do your own research so you can take some of the burden off us to catch you up on the basics! A lot of what I said in my comic is information that already exists in some form.
Think of the spaces you currently occupy and be honest: Do they lack melanin? Could you point out even a single Black woman? My sisters are often canaries in a coal mine for this type of thing, so if they aren't invited to the function, you need to ask yourself if it's a space that deserves to exist, or at least one you should feel comfortable existing in! If everyone would stop picking their comfort and fun over our absence, then it would encourage the growth of communities that actually welcome us.
PLEASE MAKE BLACK FRIENDS. PLEASE. I don't care how progressive you are, if you don't have Black friends we can tell... 😭 Now of course it goes without saying, don't try to collect us like Pokemon! Just be sincere and keep your heart open to us. At the end of the day we are people just like you, and so much of our plight is simply wishing this was a universal sentiment.
Quite curious how dissociative amnesia between alters will in our case often make us forget the little details instead of the big picture. We normally aren't confused when we switch, we know sort of what's going on and usually we know what needs to be done that day. But it's often in the mundane where we lose track. Suddenly an alter that has been dormant for a long time will front and be confused about which toothbrush is ours. They will look in the mirror and go "oh, right, that's how we look like."
It's this odd feeling of getting the gist of what's supposed to be your life too, but never being able to recognize yourself in the little parts.
Honestly thinking about how funny it is that a lot of people praised us for how well-written and conveyed Chara and Frisk's overlapping thoughts were in one of our fics.
Pre-syscovery we just were like "huh. That's odd, it came pretty naturally to me. Almost like writing my own train of thoughts." After getting diagnosed I'm like ah. Now that makes sense.
