From Brookfield’s debut EP Cloud 9 is “Eden’s Garden”, a melodic, piano-driven track. Brookfield’s strong vocals echoes the likes of James Bay while his musical composition leans towards Tom Odell’s style. “Eden’s Garden” is almost like a confession, and the passion behind the song is evident. It was a moment of pure ecstasy earlier today when I was introduced to the music of London’s Brookfield, who just released his Cloud 9 EP, self written and self produced “under the watchful ear of Tim Bran (London Grammar)”. The title track is a gorgeously melancholic and melodic song that befits its name splendidly. It’s as if the atmospheric, multi-layered beauty of London Grammar has met halfway with the introspective, sentimental music of Ben Howard. BROOKFIELD is a songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Ealing, London. Having graduated from the famous Brit School, he's been working tirelessly on his self-produced debut EP, 'Cloud 9'.

‘This Line’ is the second track from the EP before it’s full stream next Monday and boy is it a beaut! His brand of dark, soulful Singer/Songwriter has drawn comparison to the likes of David Gray, Ben Howard and Tom Odell.

I don't know how it's taken us this long to stumble across this gem, but now we have - time for a blog.

Blackbear's facebook biography gives us a huge insight, 'white male, LA CA'. We managed to dig through the archives and find a little bit more, this Hollywood native once played Hamlet in his school play and performed  Shaggy's "Wasn't Me" in falsetto to his first love.

Okay maybe I lied about the hamlet and shaggy part, but it could of happened - and that's the beauty of it.

In all seriousness Blackbear is a young producer/singer who's incredibly vulnerable music could rain on Frank or The Weeknd's parade, but don't be naive to think it's just another guy doing it. With an intelligent arrangement of songs and a story to follow, the journey through his soundcloud alone becomes quite the adventure. Not only does the album artwork remind us of being down a pub and selecting a random drink for having a good label, and doing that you always find a hidden gem. This is Sza's debut release through Top Dawg Entertainment and among their eclectic roster that features Kendrick, Schoolboy Q & Isaiah Rashad she breathes R&B into the ranks. 10 songs of seduction and mystery with features from her label friends and Chance The Rapper whom may be rapping out of their comfort zone but all bring great balance to what is a very chilling album with horns, drums, chimes, synths and snares taboot'.

This track couldn't come at any better time, 2 days to the weekend and we stumbled across Juce's ‘Call You Out’. Released 1 month ago on their soundcloud it has since garnered nearly 35,000 hits. With a pop-funk driven melody, it’s got flavours of Haim and Jamie Liddell with the heart of Prince and his raspberry beret. I would love to tell you more about Georgia, Cherish & Chalin but what the internet already has to give seems relatively limited, so just share, listen and enjoy.

Dark, Folk, Alternative. These are a few of the tags that have been used to categorise these songs and quite rightly. The 'Framework' EP by young singer songwriter CeCe is a combination of all those things, stemming from her haunting vocal that truly resonates through the record. The structure across the EP is brilliant, each song having their own life and hence why they've been tagged into different genres/moods. 'Little Bit Longer' has a 70's rock riff throughout, with a psychedelic build up and climax to an extremely understated chorus, subtly done as CeCe sings 'Cause im just gonna crawl through your window, will I make it in bed, forget the things that i said..'. Whilst 'Glamorous Decay' has a slow acoustic guitar structured around smooth vocals that really show CeCe's versatility. From what we can hear- CeCe has an incredible songwriting ability, blending genres into one you get a feel of what must be a vast musical taste. 

But we aren't hear to talk about every song because we could be here all day, ultimately this EP is well worth the listen or better yet the £3 it costs over at her bandcamp site.

We were lucky enough to stumble across J. Hurt the other day and we haven't been able to put him down since. 'The Clarity' was released last year through Datpiff. A 20 track mixtape filled with throwback hip-hop for the masses, with excellent production throughout it's amazing that this is not being sold at a premium.

The 21 year old rapper hails out of Pasadena, LA. With a sincere rawness to his voice it has a killer deep tone similar to ruggedness of DMX or pitch of Q-tip, it's instantly recognizable. J has excellent delivery and structure, everything flows so naturally that it's a pleasure to listen to, not to mention that you keep on second questioning that this is his second drop but he delivers with expertise of your favourite rapper.

Lyrically, J is an excellent commentator of life, although he's not yet fully lived it he has a story to tell about all the tribulations to date.

Rapping has always been an outlet for social commentary since it's inception, it was a way for people to express poetry in an alternative way and J.Hurt deserves alot more acclaim for his potency and ability than some of the artists that are currently held in esteem.

At the tender age of 18, Ella Martini is a charming songstress. Yesterday we were lucky enough to see her live, commandeering the stage and rallying the recluse audience, I don’t think anyone quite knew what was in store. With youth on her side, she certainly has the maturity of a seasoned professional. Combining well written original songs with a set featuring some mash-ups of well-known hits, she certainly put her mark on them. The telling of a good song is one that can transcend into a different sound and style when covered, but to equal measure, the covering artist has to show incredible creativeness to restyle a cover, that Ella certainly can do.

She combined a song from the most iconic pop band in history, Jackson 5 with the PBR&B rapper – Drake. Drake’s ‘Connect’ & Jackson 5 ‘I Want You Back’ may possibly never transition so well again, faultlessly moving from rap to a falsetto hook. (See above video)

Her current single that is available on Itunes, ‘You’ is a story tell on a past relationship. Ella has the ability to pen her emotions and create a structured song with all the key components, despite the inspiration being sad it is sung with a smile furthermore highlighting her songwriting talent and performance.

I would recommend everyone keep a close eye on what Ella will be up-to in 2014, we expect more gigs, videos and releases to look forward to.

P.S The neighbors must love rehearsals, until the bass drum pedal hits.
