@sumunoita
In this shadow work challenge, we will be exploring our past and delving into some of the core experiences that have helped create and reinforce our shadows. Please keep in mind that shadow work is a highly individual process and there is simply no way I could ever devise any sort of curriculum that yields impeccable results for everyone. It is up to you to give this challenge true substance. This is not a set of step-by-step instructions or specified exercises, but a collection of interrelated subjects that form a generic basis for shadow work that you will [hopefully] be able to build off of.Â
The prompts included were designed to be responded to in one (or all) of the following ways: journaling, creative expression, or tarot reading. I recommend journaling and/or creative expression as the basis with tarot as a supplement, but it can serve as a stand alone tarot evaluation as well (which is why I created this Tree of Life Spread). Whatever works for you, go for it! This challenge is only meant to get your mind reeling, and as you will see itâs pretty cut and dry, so I encourage you to use it as you pleaseâ get creative and allow it to evolve as you go.Â
If you feel comfortable doing so, please share your work and tag âjanuary shadow work challengeâ. I for one would love to see it, and Iâm sure those who are trying to get their foot in the door with shadow work would appreciate some reference material. In any case, I thank all for participating and as always I welcome public or private feedback!Â
(P.S. I did not get to work on/edit this as thoroughly as I would have liked, so please forgive me for any errors or sloppy writing in general! Also, feel free to shoot me an ask if you have any questions. Best Wishes and Happy New Year!)

30 days of super simple spells day 19
A modern key
A techno amulet for the modern age.
Needed
A blank USB key
Internet
A way to make the USB key into a necklace.
1. Plug in USB key.
2. Make three blank folders titled as so
THE_SOURCE
THE_PURPOSE
THE_FINALE
3. In the first folder you will place images, texts, anything that you feel will power the amulet. so signs of power ,sigils, galaxy pics where ever you feel that the magical spark will come from. text files  with things you find to be just pure energy and mp3s with songs you find pump you up are also encouraged.. Â
The second folder will contain one thing, the program of the amulet, you are going to write out a .txt file and then switch the font over to wingdings or something to make sure its unreadable ( we want this to create a sigilized effect)
The final folder will contain the finale here is where we place the trappings of the amulet. like the first folder you can add anything you want just so long as it reflects the intention of the amulet pictures of certain gods inline with your intent, pictures, mp3s, poems, stories, pdfs of books about the intent (for love a Jane Austen novel, protection a pdf of an instructional book on self defense or spells of protection, for courage a biography of famous generals. There is no limit to this stuff.)
4. Place all the folders in a new folder titled â FIAT_VOLUNTAS_MEAâ this translates to â my will be doneâ from Latin, it ties the amulet together to create a link between the folders and power the amulet.
5. Decorate and carry the amulet with you.
Note guess what is inside a usb key, a circuit board microchip. Guess what that is made of, silicon. Guess what else is silicate material, most of the planet including quartz, that fun thing in your radios, watches, smartphones computers and hung around a lot of your witchy necks or carried in your pockets. the idea of charging a usb key isnât so different from charging  crystal, except that I feel itâs more hands on (at least in the manner Iâve presented).Â
PSG Roundtable #8: Altars & Shrines for Non-theistic Purposes
Want to make an altar or shrine to a principle, concept, or impersonal subject that isnât a âconventionalâ deity, complete with names and symbols and pre-defined rituals?
First, you need to know what its purpose is. Thereâs no clear delineation and they often get combined in contemporary practice, but generally speaking, a shrine is a space for devotional offerings, meditation, and/or self-reflection whereas an altar tends to be more of a practical workspace. Both shrines and altars act as a space in which you interact with the immaterial in some way. Theyâre liminal.
Please note that everything I say here is opinion, and I invite you to accept or reject what you will according to your own beliefs, needs, and desires. Iâll be using my devotion to Death as an example, but you should be able to extrapolate for the universe, moon, sun, nature, etc. Iâm going to stick to the word âaltarâ for simplicityâs sake.
What is your altar dedicated to?
Be as specific as possible. This helps you know exactly what youâre wanting to deal with.
Ex: Death. What part of death? The whole cycle of life-death-rebirth? Death as the ultimate symbol of transformation and impermanence? For me, death is the greatest power, and I have an obsession with the concept of entropy. (Asimovâs âThe Last Questionâ and Arthur C. Clarkeâs âThe Nine Billion Names of Godâ are two of my favorite short stories.) It is the concept by which we define our very nature and how we understand our existence, the source of our greatest fears and anxieties as a mortal species, and the one truly unifying experience for all humans. And a lot more besides, but I could go on all day about death so Iâll stop here.
How do you want to engage with this concept/abstract?
Some common ideas:
Reflection, meditation
Devotionals, worship
Spellcrafting and magic
How do you normally do your meditation or magic? How can the materials, timing, and other components be adapted?
What associations and visuals do you have for this concept?
Consider all the senses: scents, tastes, textures, fabrics, sounds, colors, stones, herbs, numbers, symbols, words and phrases, music notes and songs, emotions, aspects of nature, etc. Make lists. Hell, make aesthetic posts. These will help you choose what kinds of objects, tools, and materials to put on your altar to best facilitate the kind of meaningful experience youâre looking for.Â
(Make sure youâre not appropriating anything from a closed or initiatory tradition. There are usually about a hundred thousand alternatives for everything, so donât go taking sacred things out of their proper context and using them in ways they werenât intended to be used.)
Ex: my personal associations for death include black, white, and silver; camphor, menthol, the smell of wet dirt; quiet chill, both damp and dry; grief, dissociation, sarcasm and morbid humor, relief, freedom, truth, rebellion, empowerment, justice, existentialism; the numbers two, three, and seven; obsidian, jet; Southern Gothic folk rock (Jen Titusâ cover of the American folk classic âO Death,â anyone?); black mirrors, slim dark-handled knives, scalpels; images of space; âevanescentâ (the SAT word, not the band), âfate,â âtradition,â âstories,â âpowerâ; bleached bones, blood both old and fresh, winter, corvids, silhouettes of bare trees, white bedsheets, gauzy curtains, empty hospital beds, abandoned houses, sexuality, dried flowers, candles burning either singly or in the hundreds. See, as silly as aesthetic posts can be, they really can be useful.
Now look at your own lists and see what underlying trends and themes there are. For me, I see impermanence and unadorned realism. (I left out the more graphic and triggering associations I have with death because I donât want to distract from the purpose of this post.) Someone making a list for the sun, on the other hand, may find âstrengthâ or âoptimismâ is a common theme in their associations. I find that understanding the themes in your associations helps you understand your own relationship with the concept itself and why you might feel drawn to it so strongly. It may also help you choose in which direction you want to take your engagement with it.
Setting up the altar.
Do what you would do for a conventional altar: cleanse the space (or container, if youâre making your altar in a box, cupboard, drawer, or something similar) and everything youâll be using on it. If you donât have a tradition that comes with a prescription for setting up an altar, you can look up how to cleanse and consecrate altar items in any number of ways and choose the method thatâs most appropriate for you. I do recommend using methods that reflect back to your concept. For example, salt, as an agent for drying, preserving, and purifying, would be appropriate for death, as would frankincense, which in a multitude of cultures is a required component of funerals. For something dedicated to the universe as a whole, I would probably incorporate sound into the cleansing, as sound is a wavelength and much of what we know about our universe (sound waves, radiation waves, gravitational fields, matter itself, etc) is based on those principles.
Ex: My altar is dedicated to death in the impersonal, entropic sense. This means that anything personal goes to a different space set aside for my beloved dead and ancestors; this altar is for the vast, inhuman concept of âthe endâ that can be so oppressively terrifying or incredibly freeing. The setup is based on a visual that came during a meditation: the altar cloth is black with a ring of alternating smooth and rough obsidian stones (which betrays my bias as an Irish polytheist) around a circular mirror in the center. A small sphere of obsidian sits in the center of the mirror. A black pillar candle stands tall behind it all. The setup is designed to facilitate my journeyings by creating a symbolically liminal space represented by the ring, made of stones that naturally draw in power rather than reflect it. The drawing in reflects my journeying technique as well as how I connect with the greater, impersonal energy of death and darkness and all those cheerful things, especially when I hold the obsidian sphere, so it works for me. If I were doing ancestor or spiritwork I would probably use more white, which recalls a different aspect of âdeathâ than black does to me.
The ânature worshipâ tag has additional commentary on non-theistic practices.
- mountain hound Â
So, Hound covered more of the altar stuff. Iâll add my thoughts on shrines. for ease of reading, Iâll mimic the format starting with
What is your Shrine dedicated to?
I find a shrine is much more free form than an altar due to its fundamentally different nature. Whereas an altar is used for practice in spellcraft or meditation a shrine, in my opinion, is about devotion connection in a way that is different than an altar is used for. As such, while I see altars as something that needs to be more specific (as Hound mentioned above), I find shrines do not need to be so specific. For example, my shrine is to Nature, in all its forms. I do not emphasize more the harsh wilds or the tame fields but all its forms under the complete object. If you wish to emphasize one or the other, you can, I just do not find it as necessary to do as with an altar.Â
My reasoning for such is (and feel free to disagree) an altar is used more in a practical sense for spellcraft and meditation and other uses that are generally to garner a result. As such being as specific as possible is advantageous as it leaves less room for error. A shrine, however, is used for more abstract things such as offerings, self-reflection, etc. which are generally things that are not (though can be) used to garner some sort of result. For example, I will leave offerings at my shrine more as an act of devotion with no end goal as opposed to an offering I may give a spirit when requesting its services (which is a good example of an offering to garner some sort of result).
The rest of the points are very eloquently put and can be easily applied to both altars and shrines; the primary difference is the function of active vs passive respectively and how narrow and broad the scope respectively.

Tarot A History and Brief Overview of Spreads
A History
The tarot, first known as trionfi and later as tarocchi or tarock is a pack of playing cards, used from the mid-15th century in various parts of Europe to play games such as Italian tarocchini, French tarot and Austrian Königrufen, many of which are still played today. In the late 18th century, some tarot decks began to be used for divination via tarot card reading and cartomancy leading to custom decks developed for such occult purposes. The word Tarot and German Tarock derive from the Italian Tarocchi, the origin of which is uncertain but taroch was used as a synonym for foolishness in the late 15th and early 16th centuries.
Playing cards first entered Europe in the late 14th century, most likely from Mamluk, Egypt, with suits of Batons or Polo sticks which are commonly known as Wands by those practicing occult or divinatory tarot, Coins which are commonly known as disks, or pentacles in occult or divinatory tarot, Swords, and Cups. These suits were very similar to modern tarot divination decks and are still used in traditional Italian, Spanish and Portuguese playing card decks.Â
The first documented tarot packs were recorded between 1440 and 1450 in Milan, Ferrara, Florence and Bologna when additional trump cards with allegorical illustrations were added to the common four-suit pack. These new decks were called carte da trionfi, triumph cards, and the additional cards known simply as trionfi, which became âtrumpsâ in English. The earliest documentation of trionfi is found in a written statement in the court records of Florence, in 1440, regarding the transfer of two decks to Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta.
The original purpose of tarot cards was to play games. A very cursory explanation of rules for a tarot-like deck is given in a manuscript by Martiano da Tortona before 1425. Vague descriptions of game play or game terminology follow for the next two centuries until the earliest known complete description of rules for a French variant in 1637. The 18th century saw tarotâs greatest revival, during which it became one of the most popular card games in Europe, played everywhere except Ireland and Britain, the Iberian peninsula, and the Ottoman Balkans. French tarot experienced a revival beginning in the 1970s and France has the strongest tarot gaming community.
Italian-suited tarot decks
These were the oldest form of tarot deck to be made, being first devised in the 15th century in northern Italy. The so-called occult tarot decks are based on decks of this type. Three decks of this category are still used to play certain games:
The Tarocco Piemontese consists of the four suits of swords, batons, cups and coins, each headed by a king, queen, cavalier and jack, followed by the pip cards for a total of 78 cards. Trump 20 outranks 21 in most games and the Fool is numbered 0 despite not being a trump.
The Swiss 1JJ Tarot is similar, but replaces the Pope with Jupiter, the Popess with Juno, and the Angel with the Judgement. The trumps rank in numerical order and the Tower is known as the House of God. The cards are not reversible like the Tarocco Piemontese.
The Tarocco Bolognese omits numeral cards two to five in plain suits, leaving it with 62 cards, and has somewhat different trumps, not all of which are numbered and four of which are equal in rank. It has a different graphical design than the two above as it was not derived from the Tarot of Marseilles.
Italo-Portuguese-suited tarot deck
The Tarocco Siciliano is the only deck to use the so-called Portuguese suit system which uses Spanish pips but intersects them like Italian pips. Some of the trumps are different such as the lowest trump, Miseria (destitution). It omits the Two and Three of coins, and numerals one to four in clubs, swords and cups: it thus has 64 cards but the ace of coins is not used, being the bearer of the former stamp tax. The cards are quite small and not reversible.
French-suited tarot decks
The illustrations of French-suited tarot trumps depart considerably from the older Italian-suited design, abandoning the Renaissance allegorical motifs. With the exception of novelty decks, French-suited tarot cards are almost exclusively used for card games. The first generation of French-suited tarots depicted scenes of animals on the trumps and were thus called âTiertarockâ (âTierâ being German for 'animalâ) appeared around 1740. Around 1800, a greater variety of decks were produced, mostly with genre art or veduta. Current French-suited tarot decks come in these patterns:
The Industrie und GlĂŒck (Industry and Luck) genre art tarock deck of Central Europe uses Roman numerals for the trumps. It is sold with 54 cards; the 5 to 10 of the red suits and the 1 to 6 of the black suits are removed.
The Adler-Cego animal tarot is used in the Upper Rhine valley and its neighbouring hills such as the Black Forest or the Vosges, and has 54 cards organized in the same fashion as the Industrie und GlĂŒck. Its trumps use Arabic numerals but within centred indices.
The Tarot Nouveau has 78 cards, and is commonly played in France and is somtimes used to play Cego. Its genre art trumps use Arabic numerals in corner indices.
German-suited tarot decks
German-suited decks for Bauerntarock, WĂŒrttemberg Tarock and Bavarian Tarock are different. They are not true tarot packs, but a Bavarian or WĂŒrttemberg pattern of the standard German-suited decks with only 36 cards; the pip cards ranging from 6 to 10, Under Knave (Unter), Over Knave (Ober), King, and Ace. These use Ace-Ten ranking, like Klaverjas, where Ace is the highest followed by 10, King, Ober, Unter, then 9 to 6. The heart suit is the default trump suit. The Bavarian deck is also used to play Schafkopf by excluding the Sixes.
Tarot Card Readings
The earliest evidence of a tarot deck used for cartomancy comes from an anonymous manuscript from around 1750 which documents rudimentary divinatory meanings for the cards of the Tarocco Bolognese. The popularization of esoteric tarot started with Antoine Court and Jean-Baptiste Alliette (Etteilla) in Paris during the 1780s, using the Tarot of Marseilles. French tarot players abandoned the Marseilles tarot in favour of the Tarot Nouveau around 1900, with the result that the Marseilles pattern is now used mostly by cartomancers.
Etteilla was the first to issue a tarot deck specifically designed for occult purposes around 1789. In keeping with the misplaced belief that such cards were derived from the Book of Thoth, Etteillaâs tarot contained themes related to ancient Egypt.
The 78-card tarot deck used by esotericists has two distinct parts:
The Major Arcana (greater secrets), or trump cards, consists of 22 cards without suits:
The Minor Arcana (lesser secrets) consists of 56 cards, divided into four suits of 14 cards each;
The Magician, The High Priestess, The Empress, The Emperor, The Hierophant, The Lovers, The Chariot, Strength, The Hermit, Wheel of Fortune, Justice, The Hanged Man, Death, Temperance, The Devil, The Tower, The Star, The Moon, The Sun, Judgement, The World, and The Fool. Cards from The Magician to The World are numbered in Roman numerals from I to XXI, while The Fool is the only unnumbered card, sometimes placed at the beginning of the deck as 0, or at the end as XXII.
Ten numbered cards and four court cards. The court cards are the King, Queen, Knight and Page/Jack, in each of the four tarot suits. The traditional Italian tarot suits are swords, batons, coins and cups; in modern occult tarot decks, however, the batons suit is often called wands, rods or staves, while the coins suit is often called pentacles or disks.
The terms âMajor Arcanaâ and âMinor Arcanaâ were first used by Jean-Baptiste Pitois (also known as Paul Christian) and are never used in relation to tarot card games. Some decks exist primarily as artwork, and such art decks sometimes contain only the 22 major arcana.
The three most common decks used in esoteric tarot are the Tarot of Marseilles, the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck, and the Thoth tarot deck.Â
The six most common Tarot Spreads are the;
Love Spread
Here is a little you should know about the âloveâ spread. This type of reading evaluates the relationships relevance, how strong and happy they are. Every relationship has its ups and downs and with this six-card spread you will be able to evaluate your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual connections with your partner. The âloveâ spread has its own 6 cards which represent the following:
#1-The first card signifies what you currently feel about your relationship, your approach, and your outlook.
#2-The second card represents your partners current emotions towards you, his attitude, and expectations about your relationship.
#3- The third card is a connection card. For example; common characteristics of both of you
#4â The fourth card indicates the strength of your relationship.
#5â The fifth card shows the weaknesses in your relationship.
#6â This final card is your true love card. It interprets if the relationship is going to be successful or not.
Success Spread
Briefly about the âSuccessâ spread; it is a remarkably situational spread. Â Itâs often used when a person is facing an obstacle or hardship. It can also be helpful if you donât know how to face or overcome a problem as it will point you in the right direction.
#1- it helps you to find out about the true colours of the challenge in front of you. It will help you to identify what sort of skill set and resources you will need in order to not just solve but also overcome the challenge.
#2- this further clarifies on your current problems and challenges.
#3- The third card reveals the hidden factors affecting your current situation. You need to have knowledge about what these factors are to really overcome the obstacle youâre facing.
#4- The fourth card represents new plans, people, or objects that can help you grow further. By adapting yourself to these new aspects, your vision of the situation will change, leaving you with better solutions to your problems.
#5- The final card shows what requirements you need to fulfill in order to be proven successful and things you should avoid as they will lead you to failure. It will point you towards success if proven to be a positive card but in other cases it could be a negative card and will warn you about an upcoming disaster in your life.
Celtic Cross Spread
Despite its complications the âCeltic Crossâ Spread has stood popular for many years. This is most likely due to the fact that its importance lies in its difficulty. Each result of the Celtic Cross can be illustrated in a variety of ways depending on the direction of the of the fallen cards. Though not recommended for beginners, once anyone understands it, he or she can use this spread to find out the full depth of the situation. With enough practice it can it can be taken in use to find the answer to any problem. Celtic Cross deals with intricate situations.
#1â presents the current situation the person finds themselves in the and the reading is about the question they are facing.
#2â is placed over the first card, pointing to the left and is always read in an upright position. It shows what the basic challenge is that needs to be solved or the mental or physical object holding them back.
#3â The third spread reveals the subconscious influences. These strange influences have an extremely strong and powerful effect on oneâs everyday life, especially in scenes relating to the question.
#4 â The fourth card shows what resources one has and the things they can use to face and solve the problem shown by the second card and in the process reach their ultimate goal, shown by the third card.
#5 â The fifth card shows the prologue of the scene. A negatively influenced past may have an effect that prevents their success on their current situation and they will need to let the memory go in order to stop it from negatively influencing their current situation so they can face and eventually overcome the problem at hand as shown by the second card. A positive past should be can simply be called inspiration. Even though the person may be facing a challenge in their current part of life, the problem
They are up against is natural growth of the positive past they had the benefit of experiencing and after they have overcome all their challenges, things will look even brighter than they were in the past.
#6 â The sixth card is the headlight. If the card states there is some form of negative energy on the way the five previous cards should give a good reasoning of why this is taking place and what we could do to prevent it.
#7 â The seventh card represents the personâs attitude. It illustrates your physical actions, thinking and ideals regarding the current problem. This will give you more to work with into whether the personâs attitude is conducive to a likable outcome or whether itâs time to retrack the way the person perceives the information.
#8 â The eighth card is an energy card. It talks about the energy surrounding them and the energy other people and the environment is letting off and if these energies are helping in any shape or form.
#9 â The ninth card tells us about what the personâs desires and fears. This is a revelation card. It gives importance to the things a person should be aware of in their current situation and might change the way a person acts which should not be neglected by them.
#10 â This is the final outcome and emphasizes on the energies, if they are complementing or conflicting. It also tells the person about the future that will take place immediately and if it is necessary or not to face the future.
Spiritual Spread
Similar to the Success Spread, the Spiritual Guidance spread is used when faced with problems that are of a spiritual nature. These sorts of challenges are usually related to spirituality in a person.
#1 â The first card represents your main concerns. You may think you know about the problem but this spread goes more in depth with it.
#2 â The second card looks into your motivation for looking for guidance.
#3 â The third card looks into the things about your life you are insecure or worried about.
#4 â The fourth card emphasizes on the parts of your life that you are not aware of.
#5 â The fifth card is your advice card as it will guide you to the steps to face your fears. It ties in with the previous cards.
#6 âThe sixth card guides us to a life with no worries so that we could move forward on our spiritual journey.
#7 â The seventh card teaches you to deal with the situation with the resources you have at hand.
#8 â Finally, the eighth card finishes the Spiritual Guidance Spread by telling us that the result of the tarot cards all depends on our reaction to it whether we focus on the positive or negative.
Career Path Spread
This spread is for times where we feel left out on our career. We work hard hoping for a promotion but to no benefit. It helps us with these kind of challenges that we face in our professional life.
#1 â The first card basically asks us if our job that we have right now is indeed our ideal job
#2 â The second card emphasizes on the actions we must take to further boost our career. A positive card means we should stay at the same position we are in right now whereas a negative one means we should make some changes.
#3 â The third card tells us about certain things about our job that we can no longer alter. The card may tell you to look for a job in the same category we are working in right now.
#4 â The fourth card refers to our skills on our job to see if theyâre enough to get us a promotion or if we are behind everyone else.
#5 â The fifth card tells us about the things we can do in our career to improve and start a new one or just small things we can do in our current career to at least get noticed.
#6 â The sixth card gives us the answer to the question that if our past mistakes are influencing our career now.
#7 â The final card tells you that if the card is negative it might lead to a bad outcome as it might result in you making other bad career choices.
However, if you arenât sure of the outcome, use the card again after a few days or weeks to see if the reading changes as your attitude changes.
Three-Card Spread
The simplest and the most useful spread, âThe Three Card Spreadâ only uses three cards. This is what makes it the most popular. This is one of the most powerful spreads and can find answers for you really quickly for almost anything, let it be overcoming a problem or an obstacle or if you are simply just feeling lost or left behind.
Linear 3 Card Tarot Spreads
As you can imagine, this layout is good at suggesting some sort of linear path, sequence of events, cause and effect, or a way of getting from point a to point b.
Past, Present, Future
You, Your Path, Your Potential
You, Relationship, Partner
Situation, Action, Outcome
Idea, Process, Aspiration
Balanced 3 Card Tarot Spreads
In this layout, each card of the spread has a common intersection. They are all equally important, like three sides of a pyramid. Without any of these, the whole structure collapses.
Mind, Body, Spirit
Physical State, Emotional State, Spiritual State
Subconscious, Conscious, Super Conscious
Option 1, Option 2, Option 3
What I think, What I feel, What I do
Foundational 3 Card Tarot Spreads
I think think one is a little harder to explain, but I like thinking of these spreads being communicators of advice in a way such that âgiven X and Y, the result is Zâ. X and Y attempt to give you a clearer understanding of options, and Z is a summary, a crux, a way to move forward given the information that is there. In fact, even when phrasing these spreads, I like saying them in a way that follows this formula to make the point clearer. The bolded items represent the actual card positions.
Given your strengths and weaknesses, this is my advice.
Given what worked well, and what didnât work well, this is the key lesson.
Given that this brings you together, and that this pulls you apart, you must focus on this.
Given that you want this from the relationship, and your partner wants this, your relationship is heading towards this.
Given Option 1 and Option 2, This is what you need to know to make a decision.
Crossed 3 Card Tarot Spreads
As the layout would imply, this is about understanding conflicts and obstacles. The card that crosses over is something that stands in the way and that needs to be overcome, something that blocks you from attaining your ultimate goal, while the third card acts as a sort of advice card, looking at the situation from a more distant viewpoint. These can also be used as simpler 2 card spreads if you want to use only the crossing cards.
Situation, Obstacle, Advice
Aspiration, Obstacle, How to Overcome
Opportunities, Challenges, Outcome
Thesis, Antithesis, Synthesis
I will be doing card meanings on a later date :)
Pro Tips to Clear Negative Energy from a Room (for broke people like me)
You donât always need fancy magic materials to cleanse a gross-feeling room. These are my go-to, down-to-earth methods for making creepy, negative, tense, or otherwise iffy rooms comfy and grounded again.
- Turn on your favorite uplifting, feel-good music (something happy). Turn it up so that it fills the room!
- Occupy the room. It sounds simple, but rooms can sometimes feel iffy if theyâve been left alone for too long. So sit in there, preferably with friends, and lighten up the energy by watching funny videos/a comedy movie/etc, talking lightheartedly, playing a fun game, whatever it takes to fill the room with laughter and happy vibes
- Clean the room. Dust, sweep, vacuum, spray some good-smelling stuff or light a scented candle. Physically cleaning literally takes old stagnant energy and removes it, allowing new energy to come in.
- Open up all the doors/windows. Get a cross breeze going. If you have small wind chimes to spare, putting them in an open window to chime is traditionally a good way to âbreak upâ the old energy.
- Rearrange the room. Sometimes if the room is crowded full of furniture or nick-nacks, itâll trap old energy and feel meh. Just moving stuff around can change the energy
- Clap your hands/use a spoon and a pan to make a lot of loud noise in the corners and nooks and crannies of the room. This also âbreaks upâ the old energy
- Place a bowl of water and iodized salt someplace in the room where it wonât spill. This acts like a trash can for negative energy. Depending on the size of the room, you might need two or even three bowls.
- A vase of fresh flowers or a potted plant will bring some fresh new energy into the room
If you have crystals, incense, or smudge sticks, those will work wonderfully, but they arenât necessary. My go-to room-cleansing crystal is selenite, but you can also use smoky quartz, black tourmaline, or citrine. Standard sage works well, but you can also burn rosemary or cedar. But as always, go with your gut and do whatever feels the best for you. Happy cleaning!

â how to know if youâve been hexed â
and what to do
one of a witchâs worst fears is being cursed, hexed, jinxed, etc. here, iâll explain symptoms of these negative spells and how to reverse it or protect yourself.
stay safe! đđ§żđ
difference between: curse, hex, vex, and jinx
there are many types of negative spells so itâs totally normal to be confused between the terms :)
curse: causes direct harm to the victim, this is probably the most intense version of negative magick
hex: ill intentions are wished upon the victim
vex: similar or same as jinx, harasses the victim
jinx: a simple negative spell that causes discomfort or inconveniences to someone
symptoms
personal items going missing
intense nightmares
sudden medical problems
sudden legal problems
hard time falling asleep
sudden relationship problems
loss of energy
a string of bad luck
random pain
scattered mind and confusion
bad memory
â ïž disclaimer â ïž
you will also âfeelâ as if youâve been cursed/hexed. a lot of these symptoms can be a part of mental illnesses so if youâre already struggling mentally, talk to your medical provider about these issues. trust your gut!
also, youâre more likely to be cursed if you know a lot of witches or a lot of witches know you. if you keep your craft a secret and donât post about it on social media, chances are you probably arenât hexed.
think about if youâve angered anyone who practices witchcraft or has ill wishes against you and consider if any medications you could be taking could cause negative side effects.
what to do
reflect the spell back at the caster
cast a protection spell
do divination work (pendulum or tarot) to see if youâve been hexed
meditate and cleanse your chakras
bind the caster if you know who they are
use protective talismans (such as the evil eye)
utilize your knowledge on herbs and rocks for protection
ASTRAL PROJECTION TECHNIQUES
hey witches! been a while! So i decided to throw this subject here, in hopes most ,or all, can benefit!! Blessed Be!
There has been a lot of confusion about Astral Projection, so I figured Iâd explain what it is and how to do it. Dreaming is an unconscious astral projection. When you sleep, your conciousness leaves your body. It literally leaves our 3D physical reality. This is caused by your pineal gland (the most important part of your brain) releasing Dimethyltryptamine aka DMT. DMT is what propels your conciousness out of the body when you sleep, and when youâre about to die or have a ânear death experienceâ. The thing is, you do not have control over what your consciousness does when it leaves your body while you sleep ⊠Your subconscious controls it.
The difference between normal sleep and astral projection is, when you astral project, you are able to consciously control your conciousness, and where it goes. Astral projection is basically just Conscious Sleep. When you start to fall asleep but wake up right before it happens, you can literally feel your conciousness coming back into your body. That is why you sometimes feel like youâre falling. The âhead exploding sensationâ (as some people describe it), is the first step to starting an astral projection. That is one of the signs you know that youâre doing it right. You feel pressure in your brain, and your body starts to tingle. Then, your whole body goes limp, and if you can control it, your conciousness will leave your body shortly after.
Letâs put it this way so itâs easier to understand. If I were to astral project, and I wanted to communicate with someone that is sleeping, it would be difficult for me to do so. I could easily find that person in the âspirit realmâ aka 4th dimension, but I wouldnât really be able to have a deep conversation with that person because they would appear drunk to me. Thatâs because theyâre not really conscious. If I spoke to them, they may remember me being in their dream a little bit, but they wouldnât remember most of it. However, if two people are astral projecting at the same time, they CAN INDEED meet up in 4D, have a conversation together and both people will remember everything that happened.
Through astral projection, you can do many things. You can speak with friends and family that are living, your spirit or animal guides, beings from other dimensions, or you can just fly around and see the world like Superman. I realize this probably sounds crazy to people who are new to this concept, but I have done it myself so I know you can do it too. Nothing has expanded my awareness and my consciousness like astral projection has. I hope you give it a try.
Before we get into techniques, you should know that there are hundreds if not thousands of different techniques to get your consciously out of the body. We are all unique. One technique that works for some people, may not work for others. I recommend you try one for a little while and move on to a different one if you donât succeed.
1. THE ROPE TECHNIQUE
This technique has been formulated by Robert Bruce and is one of the most effective techniques around. A key ingredient to this projection technique is an invisible, imaginary ROPE hanging from your ceiling. This ROPE will be used to exert dynamic pressure at a single point on your astral body to force its separation from the physical.
Reach out with your imaginary hands and pull yourself, hand over hand, up the strong, invisible, imaginary rope hanging above you. You will feel a slight dizzy sensation inside you as you do this. This feeling of vertigo will intensify the more you pull on the rope.
Keep climbing, hand over hand, ever upwards, and you will feel the vibrations start. Your whole body will seem to be vibrating and you will feel paralyzed. Concentrate single-minded, on climbing your rope. Donât stop.
Next, you will feel yourself coming free of your body. You will exit your body in the direction of your imaginary rope and will be hovering above your body. Youâre free at last
2. SLEEP TECHNIQUE
Lie down comfortably on your back, facing the ceiling. Relax your body and clear your mind of unwanted thoughts. Relax even more.
Tell yourself that you are going to watch yourself in the act of going to sleep. You must be very clear about your intent. Youâre going to let your body sleep while your mind will remain alert throughout the entire process. Tell yourself you will retain consciousness even while your body is going to be in complete âtranceâ.
As you relax completely, you must learn to recognize the rather strange, distinctive sensations you feel as your body moves into the sleep state. You MUST stay aware as this unfolds. At a certain point, you will feel that your body is feeling heavy and numb. You are on the right track! Pay close attention to all your bodily sensations. You may feel yourself swaying or floating. You might even find certain parts of your body tingling. There might be vibrations running from your head to toe. You might even hear a strong buzzing sensation in your ears. Whatever the sensations, do not panic as these are very good signals that you are on the verge of experiencing an OBE.
You have to then visualize that you are rising up from your bed and floating towards the ceiling. How would it feel if you could actually float? Try to make the experience as real as possible. Hold this image for as long as you can. If everything goes on well, you might suddenly find yourself outside the body, floating near the ceiling!
3. THE MONROE TECHNIQUE
Dr. Robert Monroe, one of the foremost authorities on Astral Projection devised this method. You have to first relax your body. This is a very important step.
Then try to go to sleep, but donât fall asleep. Maintain your awareness between sleep and wakefulness. This is known as the hypnagogic state. Then deepen this hypnagogic state and start to clear your mind of unwanted thoughts. Simply look through your closed eyelids at the blackness in front of you. Then you must enter an even deeper state of relaxation. The next step is to induce vibrations throughout your body and intensify them. These vibrations have to be controlled and intensified further. This is the moment when the Astral body will separate from the Physical body. You then simply have to âroll-overâ and you will find yourself out of your body.
4. THE STRETCH OUT TECHNIQUE
Lie down, shut your eyes and relax your body. Imagine your feet stretching out and becoming longer by just an inch or so. Once you have this picture in your mind, let your feet go back to normal. Do the same with his head, stretching it out an inch beyond its normal position. Then, get it back to normal. Then alternate all between head and feet, gradually increasing the distance until you can stretch out both your feet and head to about two feet or more. At this stage imagine stretching out both at once. This exercise will make you feel dizzy and often start the vibrations.
After some practice, you will experience floating sensations and you can then tell yourself to rise up towards the ceiling. You are out!
5. THE HAMMOCK TECHNIQUE
Visualize yourself lying in a bright white hammock, stationed between two palm trees on a secluded beach. Imagine the feeling of swaying in the wind, and recreate that feeling now as you visualize yourself swaying from side to side in the hammock. Repeat this visualization for as long as it takes to bring forth the vibrations, and when you feel the vibrations, just âroll-outâ of your body.
Whichever technique you choose, you are unlikely to get a result on the very first night, or even on the first few nights â so take your time with them and try not to get frustrated when nothing happens at first. I promise you will soon start to see some results. If you donât experience results with a week or two, donât let it frustrate you. There could be mental or physical blockages preventing you from getting out of body. (Such as undealt with past trauma, an unhealthy pineal gland due to excessive sodium fluoride and bad diet, etc. It could be many different things.)
slowly working towards telling my bf/fiance/husband-to-be that iâm a witch, he has known from the get go that iâm into astrology but iâve gotten properly into witchcraft this past year which he doesnât really know since we currently live in different countries, but weâre soon moving in together soooo....
he knows iâve gotten into tarot and today i showed him my crystal collection, so far so good and i know heâll be supportive of me no matter what but idk, i just feel weird about it, iâve never been much of a spiritual person before since iâm an atheist and a skeptic so iâve had a lot to work on my own after my spiritual awakening
