the insane experience of missing a fictional character . like you can always go back and reread the book , replay the game , rewatch the show or movie , you can always go back & see them , but you can never experience them & their story for the first time again . its absurd to miss them because they'll always be there , but you'll miss when there were still new things for them to say .
for a small time they were real & growing and changing and you hung onto every new word, but now all they can do is repeat the same story forever&ever & they're not real anymore because you know everything they're going to do. & you miss them. its fucked man...
in this way fanworks are like necromancy
can someone invent a type of letting go that actually feels good instead of feeling like your soul is getting ripped out via large intestine
This sky orb is not an edit, it’s the clearest picture of VENUS ! The Venus planet (infrared) looks like a chaotic dawn or sunset sky. Images: July 2024, Japanese Akatsuki space probe (for real, not from Naruto: Akatsuki means “DAWN”).
You guys don't understand ( actually you probably do ) , but Agatha saying "Ask a straight lady" is the best line ever cuz us gays be saying shit like this CONSTANTLY and straight writers trying to write gay and lesbian characters never understand the assignment and for a Marvel Witch show to be the first one with such a relatable and REAL line for us is NOT what I saw in the cards as far as representation goes, but here we are. And I'm obsessed with it!
A coworker brought in a box of donuts today for a meeting, as a surprise. And as a donut-lover this is of course exciting in its own right. But I was in fact extra stoked because our stupid-humid heat wave just broke, and with the slightly cooler weather and my half-marathon race coming up in November, I'm just getting back into the swing of doing long runs after work.
So I said as much like "This is actually so perfect because I'm going for a long run after work" and my coworker responded "Oh to burn it off?" and this threw me way off my game because that was not where I was going at all. Where I was going was the fact that the single Best predictor of me pulling off a smooth, successful, well-fueled, high-endurance, long-as-hell evening run is whether or not I get my sticky hands on a sugar-loaded funtime treat around 4pm.
Like I was standing there over the box of donuts like
1973 NASA art by Rick Guidice shows a Pioneer probe using the gravity of Jupiter to slingshot its way to the outer planets.
Tatiana Maslany wearing a shirt that says ‘SUPPORT TRANS FUTURES’ on it to promote She-Hulk for Marvel Studios and Disney, and therefore forcing them to have that on their social medias for the world to see, including who knows how many queer kids and their guardians, is fucking awesome and I thank her for that.
Everything Everywhere All at Once really said that parents would love to be able to blame all the things they don't understand about their children on some sort of tangible enemy that they could fight and defeat but that enemy doesn't exist and all they're fighting are their children's different forms of self-expression which causes them to hurt their children in the process and their children to lash out and hurt them. And despite all that, despite how much it hurts both parties, both still love each other and want to be understood by each other.
That for a parent to be there for their child, they have to be willing to understand them and not fight them.
I'm simply in awe of this movie.
