Watching the sopranos and thinking about how funny it would be if we saw Tony going through the actual side effects of starting prozac. Need a whole episode of Tony pounding down gallons of water trying to figure out why his mouth is so dry
I finished my first watch of The Sopranos last night. Wow. There's so much to talk about, so I'll just keep it to just a few general/random thoughts (not going into extreme detail for much of it right now because I could talk a long time about it). I'll put analysis in its own post. Spoilers under "Keep Reading"
I 100% understand why this show is so highly rated, it is very deserved.
By the end I DETESTED Tony Soprano. I already didn't like him from the start, but by the end he was almost unbearable at points. The show did a great job achieving this
Least favorite character is Ralph. I couldn't stand him starting almost immediately, but also I think that's the point. A close second is Janice.
The product placement started getting so absurd by Season 5 lmfao. Having T and other characters say car and product features is just so silly to me. Glamor shots of cars, name brand everything always angled towards the camera, etc. Glad it didn't feel as in-your-face in Season 6, it was still present but just not as bad
The last season is a masterpiece and perfectly depicts everything Tony's actually about
The only big thing that I wish was different, and this isn't even really about the show, just my personal watching experience, is that I wish there had been some kind of warning before what happens at the beginning of Season 3 episode 4 ("Employee of the Month"). I went in to the show blind, and I am very strict about avoiding spoilers, so I had no warning leading up to what happened. The lack of warning is no fault on the show, just me wishing I had known beforehand.
Favorite moment is during Chrissy's intervention when Silvio says, "when I came in to open up one morning, there you were with your head half in the toilet, your hair was in the toilet water, disgusting." Van Zandt's delivery is just so perfect and really had me laughing
Janice was awful for what she did to Bobby and his kids (manipulating them and taking advantage of grief). Like when she started circling around Bobby I was just so filled with dread for him. She ultimately was a major contributor to his death, but I'll save the analysis for later.
I was so sad about Adriana's death, but I knew it was inevitable from the moment the FBI got to her :(
I really liked Vito's mini-arc that happened up in New Hampshire, but writing-wise I did not like his work monologue during Season 6 Episode 10. It just felt out of place and a little cheesy.
I loved the ending and I think anything more would have diminished it. Tony dies, it had been foreshadowed over and over and over, so anything after that would be redundant.
In general, I'm glad I watched this show. I need to watch some lighthearted stuff asap though haha
love season 5 Silvio tbh. Like he’s not quite there yet but he’s definitely on his way of growing into a real chonk and already looks like a soft teddy bear
