Suguru spends a day off with his friends, it just so happens to be his birthday.
Two chapters in one week!? I’ve been working on this chapter for a while and wanted to get it out by his birthday but I got sick. Excited to post it early! Hopefully, I’ll have next week’s chapter finished by Monday.
Satoru’s nimble fingers play atop the stained wood of the desk beside Suguru. He’s normally able to tune out his friends' annoying sounds— Shoko’s perpetual clicks of her phone (outside of class) and Satoru’s never-ending cacophony of noises he uses to entertain himself. However, today he’s struggling to keep his attention on Yaga’s lecture on—on… shit what are we talking about?
Looking down at his notebook, he's hoping to find a page filled with detailed notes on the current lesson only to be betrayed by his lack of studiousness. The page is entirely empty except for the date,
Friday, 3/2… right, sighing into his desk.
He covertly checks his phone for the time, only to be stopped in his tracks by Yaga.
“I’m sorry Suguru am I boring you?” His question burns into his skin.
Shit, opening his mouth to, respectfully, respond.
Satoru interrupts, “You’re definitely boring me, how many times do we have to talk about barrier techniques?” leaning back in his chair close to toppling over.
“For however long it takes you to master yours, Satoru.” His tone is harsh but clear.
The other teens give the other a short glance, syncing up in their mutual curiosity at what Satoru’s next move would be.
Today, lucky for Suguru, Satoru does not choose to be the absolute worst student imaginable and simply rolls his eyes at Yaga’s reasoning.
“Alright, listen up you three. Because today I am feeling generous, there will not be any afternoon training and there won’t be any missions either so enjoy your weekend.”
The three teens burst up in their seats, “Does that mean we’re dismissed?” Shoko eagerly asks.
“Yes, you are dismissed, you still have that essay to finish Satoru!”
“Yah, yah, I’ll get it to you eventually.” Dismissively waving his hand as he makes his escape with Shoko, they were always the first out of class.
The sound of his first name catches Suguru off guard.
