I would sell you this horse, but I’m pretty sure she would come rolling back to me like a can of chef boyardee.

When Mika showed up to the farm I was working for, my dream horse was a 16+ hand thoroughbred with lots of chrome. She is a 14.2 hand foundation quarter horse with 2 square inches of star and snip in the most perfect places, and we’ve been glued to each other from the moment I saw her.

She’s saved my life 3 + times, but would not hesitate to kill the average man or anyone who expects her to stand still for too long.

She hates other horses, but does not know how to bite or kick so it’s really only an issue if you love her deeply and struggle with the dichotomy between what good husbandry is for the average horse and how much she dislikes being turned out with other horses.

She used to have a bucking problem, now she only bucks if she’s overwhelmingly happy, embarrassed she tripped, or she overhears someone who has seen how bombproof she is offering to buy her.

Just a reminder that:

-almost no one is forced into horse ownership. Especially if you’re immediately replacing horses that pass away or you’ve sold, horse ownership is a choice

-we all need to vent about horse ownership sometimes but if you complain about it 50+ times a year maybe it’s time to reconsider owning horses

-everyone who owns horses should have an emergency plan/fund or insurance ESPECIALLY if you make money off of your horses

I bought an equisleeve at the horse expo for leg bandaging purposes but afterwards Anna showed my this model and I knew that I was immediately going to put it on my horse’s face. You’re supposed to cut a hole for the good eye, but the way it squished her eyes shut will either heal an ulcer quickly or cause a new one 😂
