Croise, crossed, body is faced at an oblique angle to the audience
En Croix, in the shape of a cross, the required movement is done to the front, then to the side, the to the back, then again to the side.
Efface, the dancer stands at an oblique angle to the audience so that part of the body is hidden from view
En Face, opposite the audience
En Avant, Forward. A movement to the front.
En Arriere, a movement towards the back
Port de Bras, carriage of the arms, an exercise for the movement of the arms to different positions
Glissade, glide, Beginning in fifth position, the front foot moves out to a point, both legs briefly straighten as weight is shifted onto the pointed foot and the other foot moves in to meet the first.
Pas de Chat, step of the cat. The dancer jumps sideways, and while in the air bends both legs up with the knees apart.
Balance, rocking step. One foot extends to a degage to second position, the other foot follows crossing front or back to make a rocking motion and the same is repeated to the other side.
Chasse, chased. A step in which one foot chases the other out of its position, done in a series.
Tombe, the act of falling, typically a beginning movement.
Pas de Bourree, begins with the extention of the first leg while in demi plie, closing the first leg to the second as both transition to releve, extending the second leg to an open position while in releve and closing the first leg to the second, usually in demi plie.
