Introducing Nitya, our luxurious Pret Line that captures the spirit of everyday elegance. Meaning "everyday," Nitya is our unique take on wardrobe essentials to make your hot summer months Cool, Comfortable and Stylish. The ensembles are created from fusioned Ajrakh hand-block prints in organic vegetable dyes in 100% pure muslin fabric enhanced with our colourful signature stitches and textured surfaces from upcycled katrans.    Nitya combines the artistry and heritage of Ajrakh hand block done by Abdul Aurangzeb, a tenth generation artisan with Sunira’s meticulous craftsmanship and in-house artisanal innovation. Nitya is designed for the modern woman who values sustainability and supports artisan communities. It embodies our commitment to exceptional quality and eco-friendly fashion.   The collection of modern-day essentials features breezy dresses, airy kurtas, versatile separates, coordinated sets, and comfortable lowers in relaxed cuts and soothing colours for everyday comfort that can effortlessly transition with you throughout your day.

Chikankari Collection | Shabana Azmi | Chikankari Indian Designer

Mul, khadi and white evoke a sense of respite from the scorching Indian summers. Inspired by this allegory, our latest collection, Mausam-e-sukoon, brings to you the classic charm of the 400-year-old craft of Chikankari in breath-taking silhouettes, from flowy dresses, oversized tops, to kurtas, ijars, and stoles.

Mausam-e-sukoon, the limited-edition Chikankari collection in hues of white, has been created in partnership with Mijwan Welfare Society, an NGO led by veteran actress Shabana Azmi. SUNIRA’s unique design approach combines traditional Chikankari motifs with our signature stitch details, to create stunning contemporary masterpieces perfect for those seeking a blend of comfort and luxury summer wear.   

Each piece is crafted by skilled artisans hailing from diverse cultures and regions across India. The fabric is handwoven by expert khadi and muslin weavers from Madi village in North Gujarat and Chak village in West Bengal respectively. The exquisite Chikankari motifs are skillfully hand-embroidered by the self-motivated women of Mijwan village in Uttar Pradesh. The final products are brought to life by our in-house talented artisans with their unique techniques and values aligned with SUNIRA’s design sensibilities.

Mausam-e-sukoon is a testimony of SUNIRA’s relentless efforts to bolster the traditional craft of Chikankari with Mijwan Welfare Society. This collaborative synergy has helped us accomplish our goal to empower women artisans through sustainable livelihood opportunities and providing on the job training to unskilled women.

Gulzaar Collection | Spring/Summer Outfits

A blossoming garden is a metaphor for new life, happiness and hope. Inspired by this thought, our new S/S ‘23 collection - GULZAAR - captures the spirit of spring flowers and India’s vibrant culture, with striking bright colours - bold fuchsia that commands attention, warm mustard that adds playfulness, vivid green that breathes freshness, and a classic blue that calms the soul. GULZAAR celebrates the synergy of many skilled craftspeople — Jamdani weavers from West Bengal, Khadi weavers of North Gujarat, and women crochet lace makers. The Vibrant-hued Jamdani textiles are combined with box-check handloom cotton to create a kaleidoscope of patterns and colours. This unique blend of traditional Indian textiles has been fashioned into do-it-all co-ord sets, statement-making layers, easy-breezy kurtas and light-as-air dresses. These exquisite pieces are embellished with beadwork, patchwork, crochet detailing and hand-done stitches, to create a beautiful synergy of traditional craftsmanship and artistry.

Lihaaf Collection| New Winter Collection

Lihaaf, SUNIRA’s new winter collection is our delightful re-imagination of cold weather classics that are designed to feel akin to wrapping yourself in the warmth of a blanket with effortless elegance and sophisticated flare. In our continuous pursuit to find unique ways to blend Indian textile crafts and traditions with contemporary flare we have collaborated with “Vankar” weavers from Bhujodi and Ajrakh hand-block print master craftsmen from Kutch to create a pastiche of Hygge (Pronunciation: hoo-gah) - Denmark’s concept of supreme coziness and comfort.

Welcome the change of season with our lightweight woollens that embody the styling fluidity of shawls, and provide a sense of reassurance through form, function and elegance. From matching coord sets that ooze old-world glamour, to blazers, coats and dresses that make for modern style statements, these winter outfits are as good as separates as they are together. The ultra lightweight handloom Merino Wool pieces combine a symphony of Ajrakh hand-block prints in earthy tones of natural dyes with masterfully crafted colorful details to create evergreen silhouettes.

Aagaaz Collection | Festive collection

Our festive collection Aagaaz is visually inspired from the silhouetted beauty of bare trees against a winter sky. The skeletal splendor of the winter landscape made of twisted bare branches and a maze of twigs is endlessly fascinating. Most people may identify the bare trees with something lost but in reality they are a reminder of the natures life cycle. It’s a reminder that the earth rotates on a daily cycle. It is a reminder that the only constant is change and t change is the sign of life. The sun sets to rise again and the annual cycle of spring, summer, fall and winter continues. Every end has a beginning and every beginning has an end. The spirit of our festive collection lies in this beautiful dichotomy inherent in the idea of endings and beginnings, that every ending is a point of Aagaaz, a fresh beginning.

Aagaaz, a collection of relaxed, effortlessly elegant festive apparel, was conceptualised to support a women’s weaving cluster in Phulia, West Bengal. The handwoven textile created by these weavers is a blend of linen yarn in warp and zari yarn in west to imitate the raw textures of the branches of a bare tree. The modern minimalistic language of the fluid silhouettes puts the tender beauty, grace and raw elegance of this lightweight textile at the forefront of the collection.

Our in-house artisans have used this subtly shimmering canvas to illustrate dense forest sceneries of the bare winter trees, using a multitude of traditional surface embellishment techniques with antique neem zari and tilla dori. The motif of bare trees endeavours to capture the renewed spirit of endings heralding fresh beginnings and the serene comfort found in nature’s continuity.

Rushaan Edit 2 Collection| Velvet Outfits

We are proudly extending our cherished collection Rushaan to add warmth to the beautiful winter days as the suns warm glinting ray that casts a soothing array through the carved silhouettes. The essence of Rushaan (a traditional latticework window) stems from the playful effect of light and shadow. The illuminated light builds a soft glowing effect that spells romance in the air and the shadows ignite mystery and intrigue. The collection draws its traditional flair from the Mughal Era, while the Gilded Era lends it a more contemporary feel bringing out allure in every single piece. It features effortlessly elegant outfits made from a curious blend of Bagru hand-block print silks and our signature art of patchwork using recycled fabrics. The juxtapositioning of warm earthy tones with a cluster of beautiful embroidery is enhanced with a sparkling hint of antique zari. Comfortable relaxed silhouettes and the lusciousness of rich velvets keep you cosy through the winter soirées. The collection makes a quiet, graceful statement while giving you endless layering possibilities!

Rushaan's first appearance was born in the midst of gloom, with the imperfections and uncertainties of a difficult year that brought out shaft of light that created incredible beauty and hope. The new edition of Rushaan is about the feeling of gush warm air in the cold, a ray of sunlight on the flowers that bloom through the winter breeze and the happiness you feel from within when you touch a warm cup of tea.

Mool Collection| Chanderi hand block print outfits

Story of threads travelling through the hands that weave tales to create something that you will cherish for a long time…

मूल meaning origin and source took us to our own space where we have the people that are the core of Sunira. Taking you through different spaces and processes that are the centre of our brand where Mool was brought to life through the untouched form of craft being practised and kept alive from the natural dyes to the fine handwoven chanderi.

Our Chanderi is handwoven by National Award Winner Mohammad Akram and dyed in vibrant natural colours that are biodegradable, non-toxic and non- allergic taking us back to the roots. Prahlad Rai Dosaya from Chippa community who did the natural dyeing for our collection still practices the craft of Bagru natural dyes in its original form keeping the practice flourishing that his family has been doing for 7 generations. Sunira aims to keep alive age old techniques and having them in the forefront. Our artisans add their touch of magic by adding the embroidery and vibrant running stitches on our indigo blue, ocean green, turmeric yellow and earthy brown. The bird motif on our Mool collection is inspired by ethnic tribal motifs which is said to bring luck to the wearer. The vibrancy in daylight and the subtle sheen in the moonlight shows the richness of the fine handwoven chanderi with silk yarn warp and soft cotton wefts. This collection is a perfect blend of colours taking you from a summer brunch to a festive evening under the glimmering lights!

Shibui Collection | Spring/Summer Outfits

The spirit of our collection SHIBUI is about surrounding ourselves with simplicity in every walk of life. The building blocks of our collection are formed by minimal, functional and simple design elements. Sunira has reinterpreted hand spun cotton from the Saurashtra region and the Chanderi textile with hand block printing in subtle colour palettes by the Sanganer craftsmen . The silhouette are based on the values of Japanese Shibui aesthetics of understated elegance, comfort of everydayness, simple and unobstructed beauty.

The Boro patchwork style and the jute used in our ensembles represent the philosophy of finding beauty and serenity in rawness of things and making elements come together to form the final structure of our collection. Though roots of hand spun cotton lie in simplicity and accessibility, our interpretation embodies a connect between the fabric and our design philosophy of blending traditional design crafts and customs with modern sensibilities to create everyday couture with stunning details using textiles made from natural fibres.

The collection is an ode to the most cherished Indian handloom fabric. The centre to these age old tradition techniques is to find beauty in mending so nothing is wasted and imperfections have their own subtle and simple appeal

Paakhi Collection | Muslin Jamdani

The incessant chirping of birds breaks the silence of the cold winter days and announce the advent of spring. It is surprising how fast it happens. One morning everything is silent and still and next you hear bird songs wherever you go. A riot of blooming flowers & chirping birds come to life on soft and exceptionally lightweight jamdani fabrics…. The canvas of our S/S22 collection is muslin Jamdani, a soft and exceptionally light weight heritage textile woven with intricately designed motifs in soft colors ideal for the summer months. This textile are represents one of the finest and most ancient weaving technique and has been developed in collaboration with a community of master weavers in Katwa (Bardhaman district, West Bengal). In our endeavour to bridge the gap between this community and the modern consumer, we have tried to juxtapose the identity and ancestral weaving technique of the community with sensibilities that resonate with the present times. Our SS/22 Collection is a celebration of this textile treasure and the ancestral knowledge passed on over generations of artisans.

Ethereal Collection | Handloom Textile

We bring our Banarsi collection to life on the shores of the mighty Ganges A magical experience laced with serenity and strength of “going with the flow”. Banarasi textiles are conventionally known for their richness, our collection reimagines Banarasi in a minimal, elegant and comfortable design language. You will find pure lightweight flowy silk ensembles finished with tussar silk in traditional tie-dye leheriya in natural colors obtained from onion skin and sappan wood. You also see various coloured brocade silks with embroidered panels using intricate resham and doriwork. The subtle shades are accented by gold Zari threads in the garments exhibiting fluidity and understated elegance. This timeless and seasonless handloom collection is rooted in the craft of Varanasi Weave to which we add a fresh, contemporary update while celebrating the magical spirit of the artisans and their divine flow of energy that went into creating these light, airy, diaphanous, “ethereal” handloom textile.

As Sharad Ritu, or early winter, knocks on our doors, we’re thinking of misty mornings when sun’s warm, golden light transforms a dew-covered garden into a glowing, mystical wonderland. ‘ओस’ — our winter capsule in luscious hand-blocked Ajrakh velvets captures this very magical moment with its earthy Fall hues and gleaming hand embroideries.

Mirch Masala Collection | Hand Crafted Design

The iconic ‘80s film Mirch Masala remains relevant to this day for its core ideas of solidarity, feminism, liberation and empowerment. Fascinated and inspired in equal parts by the message and the rich visuals of the film, we journeyed through the village of Mathania, Jodhpur, to shoot our A/W campaign alongside the real red chilli farmers — the fiesty women who work tirelessly in a challenging landscape to proudly produce some of the finest chillies in the world. Various facets of our rich crafts heritage are inextricably interwoven into our design language as we strive to explore collaborations with craftsmen and women from all over the country. An ode to the multifaceted spirit of women, our bright and colourful collection ‘Mirch Masala’ features hand-knotted bandhej from Tera village in Bhuj in a palette of jewel-toned natural dyes uniquely mixed with hand-block prints from Bagru, enhanced with glowing dabka, metal and resham needlework. Our surface embellishments are inspired from traditional folk embroideries, hand-crafted meticulously using up-cycled scrap lehriya fabrics, further enhanced with sequins and dabka.

Nazm Collection | Traditional Pichwai Art

Nazm is an assortment of classic angrakhas, tunics, kurtas and dresses that defy the vagaries of style. From hand-dyed Leheriya dupattas to intricate Nathdwara Pichhwai embroideries, each pays homage to Sunira’s dedication towards sustainability, Indian textiles and labour-intensive craft and handwork. Nazm’s heavy threadwork and hand-embroidery is inspired by the traditional Pichwai paintings native to the temple town of Nathdwara in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Pichwai originated in the 17th century when artists, out of devotion, painted backdrops to hang behind the idol of Shrinathji and depict the “leelas” of Lord Krishna with the moon, lotus blooms, peacocks, parrots, and birds nestled in lush foliage creating the most scenic setting. Our Nazm collection is an ode to the labour of love and devotion and an effort to capture the intricacies, awe-inspiring combinations and the jeweled quality of traditional Pichwai.

Boond Collection | Gaji Silk Outfits

Sunira's latest collection is inspired by the journey of a rain drop from the bosom of a cloud.... a journey of uncertainties and a myriad of possibilities. Falling in the ocean, the rain drop becomes the ocean, it becomes a pearl if it falls inside an oyster and it glistens and presents immense beauty if it falls on a lotus leaf. The heart of Boond is Ajrakh, a resist hand block printing craft from the Kutch region, involving 18 precarious steps made even more difficult in these uncertain times. The capsule collection of easy to wear designs on pure silk Ajarkh fabrics tries to capture the beauty of the raindrop along with the hope, resilience and strength that it symbolizes.
